Yesterday, the Police Oversight Board appointments were made for Chicago's Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability. Congratulations to the newly appointed Commissioners Aaron Gottlieb, Kelly Presley, Sandra J. Wortham and Abierre Minor, and reappointed Anthony Driver Jr, Remel Terry, who have a lot on their hands.

I had the pleasure of attending and supporting them as they presented their qualifications to City Council Police and Fire Committee, in hopes of favorable consideration for their appointments, which they ultimately received.

Despite the challenges ahead, I'm confident that these Commissioners are well-prepared to promote public safety and social justice, both of which every Chicagoan deserves. During the hearing, they presented their cases with unique perspectives and a common denominator - a commitment to the betterment of our community.

Congratulations to my friend Abierre and her fellow Commissioners! I'm looking forward to a safer Chicago under their leadership over the next four years. 🤗

It was a privilege to participate in the libation ceremony at the inaugural Mayoral Solidarity Breakfast, hosted by The Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Initiative (TRHT), the Unity Initiative, and Pastor Dr. Kenneth Phelps of Concord Baptist Church, with the support of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office.

My sincere gratitude goes to Common Purpose and Pilar Audain, M.S., M.P.H., Associate Director, Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation CCT Program Manager, Building Collective Power, for extending the invitation.

Communities from across , including newly “migrated” members, gathered today for breakfast, libations, and . This occasion provided an opportunity to share stories that celebrate our humanity, challenge harmful myths, and lay the groundwork for meaningful relationships that contribute to the vision and resourcing needed for systemic change.

Despite being fortunate to have family and friends of diverse backgrounds, the experience left me with a profound sense of empathy and an increased appreciation for shared or relatable experiences. It fostered hope for unity within the “Chi-aspora” during crises that impact us collectively.

This event follows TRHT’s receipt of the Solidarity Circles & Healing Illinois Grant and Mayor Johnson’s consistent commitment to the promises made to Chicago. TRHT not only facilitates Racial Healing Circles for organizations with their support but also offers individuals the opportunity to be trained as Racial Healing Practitioners.

Today, at the Polsky Center at the University of Chicago, Boss Women Matter, a Business Framework Academy founded by AleahMoore, held its first session of the , a focus group of aimed at highlighting concentrations of the Black Women Founders populations throughout Chicagoland, understand their challenges, recognize their aspirations, illuminate community assets, and identify opportunities to support them thoroughly.

We had thought provoking on:

🌟 70 Terms Every Founder Should Know, consisting of language understood and spoken by our future and how to take that language and integrate it into our for an increased chance of

🌟 The contents of each slide in a pitch deck to include demonstrating our individual market’s need, competition, financials, team needed to execute, and the plan to execute our ventures

🌟 Our challenges and aspirations in business, as well as how we may be of service to one another in the future

I will be attending this Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League an NULYP Chapter event tonight.

Yesterday, I participated in my first Veterati call where I acted as a instead of a mentee. My mentee asked for guidance on how to pivot her from Travel, Military, and Flight Attendant topics to HR while stopping any discussion on previous topics.

To start, I provided her with general information, such as the fact that education is usually free for , along with resources and connections to people who can provide more information about our benefits. I also suggested that she join groups, follow in that field, and look for topics to talk about. For her , I advised her to create a video, thanking her audience for following her journey and expressing hope that they will continue to do so as she pivots careers.

I frequently receive similar questions, so I am eager to learn more about this topic of career pivoting, which is similar to a military transition something y'all watched me struggle through lol

I am particularly excited to hear from veteran Alicia Sanders, MBA, who will be speaking on the panel.

No, truly!

Words cannot explain how important this confirmation was for me, on a spiritual level, to enhance my career in the — well, I don’t even know what to call this anymore.. uhm , , world lol? 😅

I was nervous to truly embark on this journey, continuously putting myself out there, and immediately shrinking myself because I don’t know any military women going from Intelligence to Media (especially not any black women).. And anyone from Intel knows the struggle of sharing information..

But this.. this.. I’ve been manifesting all of my life. From pageants to theatre production assistance to marketing internships to walking around performing mock interviews with Oprah in my head… This was meant to be! And since it was meant to be, it must be done! I won’t explain what “it” is, because God has a funny way of redirecting me..but,

A special thank you is necessary to be given to all of the speakers! It was an honor to be in your presence as you shared your stories and combined years of experience to show us that our dreams are possible! left feeling empowered, affirmed, and ready to execute. The information shared, the connections made, and the feeling of sisterhood were all priceless! 💝
