Ecolution Small changes for a more sustainable lifestyle as a teen, family, or adult to help save out planet and the animals

04/09/2019

Hi everyone!
Last weekend I went to an activity group event and it was 1h30 drive from my house.... So I went by train and my parents came to pick me up (because there was a brunch for parents at the end). So how to make this more sustainable? Well when my parents picked me up, we took two other girls that live near us and took them home! This divides by three the carbon footprint it would have been if both of those girls had gone home by car with their parents! So carpooling is a great way to minimize your carbon footprint, you can do this going to school, work, or other activities!

Last weekend I went to a secondhand market. Not only was it really fun, but I also found pretty clothes that are so good as new and for a tiny price! Did you know that making 1 pair of blue jeans uses 10 000 L of water?
Giving things a second life is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint! There are many ways to do so:
> Give your clothes, or other things you don't use to people you know would use them, (for example friends or family)
>donate them to charity for homeless people or people living in poverty.
>Sell, give, your unwanted things by social media (ex: groups on fb:) or get the things you need secondhand from these kind of groups
>buy your clothes or other things you need from secondhand markets and even sell your unwanted clothes/things there!
Doing this is not only good for the environment, but also for others and even for your wallet 😀.

I have been vegetarian for 2 years now! I really like it because I know I'm not hurting animals and there are so many delicious vegetarian recipies!!!
Reducing your meat intake is very good for the planet. The carbon footprint of the following is from least to greatest:
Vegan, vegetarian, fish, poultry, red meats. So when you have a choice, try choosing the one closest to the beginning of the list. Just reducing you meat intake to 2-3 times a week can make a big impact! (if you are concerned for medical problems with being vegetarian, this is a good option because it is the amount the doctors recommend.) If you want to take it a step further become a vegetarian or vegan!

Hi everyone!
My name is Celia, I'm 15 years old. I've started this page to share with everyone information about sustainability, climate change and ideas to help solve these problems starting with our daily lifestyle... This is specifically about how I and other teens, families, and adults can make small changes in their day to day life to evolve to a more sustainable lifestyle. I will show you examples of small changes I have made to help our planet. Hopefully you will share with me, and others seeing this page, how you have changed your daily life to help the planet and animals😊
