To all the children awaiting the start of school tomorrow, I pray that you have the greatest first day!! I pray for strength for both, mama and baby, over the next year. I pray for your strength to be brave. Strength for new beginning and strength to accept change. I know change is never easy but is almost always good! I pray that your mind is eager and ready to learn, that you have the courage to ask all the questions, confidence to take all the risks, and the discipline to focus and work hard! I pray for quality friendships and most importantly, safety in and out of the classroom! 🍎

On this Day, 2 years ago, I shared the letter I wrote to my kiddo starting Kindergarten, and while my sentiments stand true while he enters second grade, we've got a little bit of a better idea as to how the year will go! 🤍

To the mamas with babes entering school for the very first time, I am here for you babe!! There are so many emotions and while you are feeling overwhelmingly excited for all they are about to experience, I know those tears are stinging behind those eyes... (hugs!!)

Here is your reminder to write your babe a little something, it doesn't have to be five pages deep or even something you share with anyone other than your little scholar, but trust me, you'll be thankful you did it!! 🍎

I'm sure you've heard the saying "early bird gets the worm", but what is the appeal to being said early bird? 🌅

With the [[ new school year ]] starting this week, I am hopeful that my early rise to the day will allow me to start my day in peace. 🕊

There is something so peaceful about rolling out of bed before the rest of the world, (well my kids... anyway), hearing the bzzzzz of the coffee being brewed in the kitchen, slipping on slippers, moseying into the bathroom with my eyes barely open, brushing my teeth, admiring my Ben Franklin style ponytail and making a beeline for the freshly made coffee in the coffee pot. Filling up my favorite morning mug of coffee with vanilla creamer, settling in on the couch with my favorite, cozy, leopard blanket, cuddling up and preparing myself for the day ahead. I like to take in my surroundings. The stillness of our normally little boy filled living room, the way the fresh, hot coffee mug warms my hands with the smell of the vanilla creamer lingering after each sip. Slowing down, taking time to invest in me, my well-being, for just a moment.

[[ ɪ ᴅɪᴅ ᴀ ᴛʜɪɴɢ ]] 🦩

For Mother's Day this year, I asked my husband and children for a gift that would last a lifetime.

The flamingo, to some, reminds you of the sun shining on your skin, while you sip a frozen cocktail out of a coconut with an umbrella on top. You can feel yourself lounging in a hammock, relaxing, while listening to the sounds of the waves in the distance. Flamingos are oftentimes, the epitome of tropical vacations, endless relaxation, and playful luxury. But to me, it is so much more than that...

Motherhood is like the story of a flamingo.
Both go through a phase full of selfless sacrifice, devotion, and love.

And while I am reminded that I am not alone, and know that my pink will return as it once was, that I am doing my most accomplished job of all, being a mommy to my two precious babes! While Hudson may be too young to write "I love you" on his own regard, I look forward to adding his replication underneath when he is able. 🤍

Back - to - School Jitters 🍎🖍

While we are busy crossing off the forever long, end of summer, to-do list and grabbing the four packs of colored pencils, the six small, purple, glue sticks, and the twenty other items on the school supply list, our children are preparing for a new school year with a new teacher, a new classroom, new friends, and new opportunities.

To combat Finley's back-to-school jitters, in addition to our daily affirmations, I like to remind him of ALL he is capable of and all he has to give!!

Whew baby, it is Friday and I can't be the only one skating by, wondering where my perfect little angels went... 😅

But then I had my come to Jesus moment, while sipping on my coffee, and I remembered, "It IS normal for a child to behave one way at home and differently when they are at school or daycare, with grandparents or caregivers, etc."

Sometimes it can be hard to remember that what we may consider to be “misbehavior” may just be our children demonstrating age-appropriate boundary tests, with whom they feel safe with.

I think that it is fair to say, that we all, have things in our lives that don't look exactly the way we wish for them to. We don't have the community we wished we had, we're unhealthier than we'd like to be, our marriage isn't as close as we hoped it'd be... something in our life is just not up to par with where we believe it should be.

The seeds we plant in our lives turn into something, and if we want something to exist in our lives, those are the specific seeds we have to plant.

Something that I have learned the hard way, time and time again, is the two-way street that makes for a meaningful friendship. I am the friend that is very loyal and will always show up for you. I will text and call, I will show up to your house and to girls’ night. If you invite me to a party, I will be there with a bottle of wine or a 12 back of beer. If you want to grab lunch or a drink, I will make it happen. And I am super proud that I rarely cancel my plans and commitments once they are made! But something I have really had to come to terms with, is how the people that I invest my time into, does not always reciprocate with the same energy. I put in 110% and they are wavering at 50-75%.

I have always had different kinds of friends and a lot of times; my friends were opposites of me. I have had super meaningful relationships that turned out to be "fake," and I have had "fake" friends who were genuinely good friends. I have learned how to be a better friend and have also learned how to "attract" the type of friends that match my values and boundaries.

I cannot put into words how incredible our trip was! The memories created are endless, the tans are tanning, and we are excited to get home to our two furry loves!! 💙
