Exmar has announced that the keel has been laid for the first of six 46,000 cubic metre (cbm) midsize LPG/ammonia carriers at HD Hyundai Mipo in South Korea.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2025.

As previously reported, the first two vessels will be powered by LPG dual fuel engines. The remaining four vessels in the series will run on ammonia.

Wärtsilä has signed a six-year Lifecycle Agreement with Malaysia-based Nautica Ship Management covering two vessels, the MTT Saisunee and MTT Senari, that is designed to ensure the ships’ exhaust gas treatment systems operate at maximum efficiency.

The vessels are feeder container vessels and are fitted with Wärtsilä hybrid scrubber systems. The order was booked by Wärtsilä in Q2 2024.

Short-sea shipping company Wilson ASA has announced the signing of a contract for the construction of eight 6,300 DWT future-proof newbuildings.

In a statement issued yesterday (1 July), Wilson said the vessels are ‘designed to contribute in our effort to meet our environmental targets.’

Canadian ferry operator Marine Atlantic says international experts continue to work around the clock to clean debris from the fuel and lubrication system of its new dual fuel LNG vessel, the Ala’suinu, but the problem has not yet been resolved.

As a result, there will be additional delays to the start of the Argentia service, Marine Atlantic confirmed in a statement on Friday (28 June).

Canadian ferry operator Marine Atlantic says international experts continue to work around the clock to clean debris from the fuel and lubrication system of its new dual fuel LNG vessel, the Ala’suinu, but the problem has not yet been resolved.
