“Dear Me, I’m Sorry” is a poetic apology to oneself. Author, Jessica Livia, having gone through her own journey of grief and healing, decided it was time to apologize to herself, for both the things she could control and things she could not control, yet had to endure, all the same. In doing so, the author gives her readership the chance to apologize to themselves as well.
The collection catapults you into each state of mind one would go through, if experiencing trauma. In the first few chapters you are right in the very center of grief, how it alters your thought process, and even your everyday way of functioning. And in the last chapters you begin to make subtle, but healthy changes, because you are finally accepting your own apology to yourself.

He lives in Vancouver, WA. with who cats, who do not contribute to rent.

Book overview:
In the 1970’s we first heard about the link between “madness” and “genius,” (the word referring to literary genius, scholarly genius, and creative genius). However, speculation dates back at least to the time of Aristotle. In Aristotelian tradition, genius was believed to be the quality perhaps responsible for both extraordinary achievement, and melancholy.

While there have been many studies conducted on the correlation between mood and creativity, all resulting in varying findings, one thing has been agreed upon. Negative emotions have been proven to increase the quantity in which a person will reflect and contemplate, ultimately leading a person to be more creative.

Author, Melissa M. Combs, also known as The Enchanted Poetess, states, “Writing A Disease Called Poetry was therapeutic for me. I allowed myself time to reflect, ruminate, even, and ultimately release some of my deepest thoughts and struggles, without the fear of judgement.” She also states, “We are are all human, and we all should be given the grace to feel what we feel. Those of us that have chosen creative career paths are no different. Even if our emotions or our afflictions do not always fit perfectly within the social bounds of what is deemed ‘normal,’ it is normal for us. My greatest hope for this collection is that it makes anyone (not just artists,) that struggle with mental health related issues, feel seen. We are all in this together.”

As of right now, our publishing house opens submissions only twice a year. Our first submission period starts today, March 5th, 2024, and ends April 5th, 2024.

If you or anyone you know are interested in having your poetry represented and recognized, please follow the guidelines below. 👇

1. All submissions must be submitted to: [email protected]
and addressed to: Melissa Combs

2. Requirements: Submissions will only be considered if submitted in a word document, 30- 50 sample poems, and suggested title and book cover idea are included. If you have a completed cover, please attach a file sample.

3. It is not required but, any notable accolades are reviewed and deeply taken into consideration throughout the reviewing process.

In addition, don’t forget to follow and like our page to stay up to date with future posts and announcements!

Scarlett has been a writer for as long as she can remember. It wasn’t until she suffered a tragic loss that she decided to share her work with the world, in hopes her work would help others in their healing journeys. Join her as she takes you through her mind, which can be a little chaotic at times. Her up and coming collection, “Footsteps of Life: A Journey into a Chaotic Mind” covers a range of topics, from grief and anxiety to parenthood and love.
