Armenian Children Forced Transfer During The Armenian Genocide 🔽
The Armenian community's elimination was critical to the Unionist objective of converting the Ottoman Empire into a Turkish nation-state.
Armenian children were placed in state facilities or in the homes of individual Turks, continuing to be victims of genocidal politics. They were destroyed, sometimes forced into sexual or labor exploitation, and subjected to identity conversion. The candidates were chosen based on their beauty, health, and other factors.
The orphan collecting and orphan missions created following the Mudros ceasefire posed a barrier to assimilation, resulting in the repatriation of many children to Armenia via the efforts of Armenian and international humanitarian organizations. However, a part of the forcefully moved lost their national identity and Turkified.
