The success of Colin Lillie continues to build off the back of his two singles released through Beverley Hillbilly Records – “The War” and the stunning duet with Catherine Britt, “The Road”.

Now comes the third single – “The Headlights” – lifted from his acclaimed EP, “The…”.

Again produced by Catherine Britt and mixed by Shane Nicholson, “The Headlights”, was co-written with Lo Carmen in Los Angeles and is inspired by Colin’s eldest stepson.

“We all have stories to tell and as parents we hope our lives’ wisdom can be passed on but in truth, we humans have to learn for ourselves, no matter the consequences”, says Colin.

“This is my attempt to share a little wisdom on the world because sometimes we are not the hero of our story and that can be where the richest of truths can be found”.

The self-proclaimed gypsy Scotsman who resides in the red heart of Australia’s central desert, has gone from strength to strength as an artist over the last few years. Last month, he was the only Official Showcasing Australian artist to appear live in person at the Folk Alliance Conference in Kansas City (other Australian’s performed via online methods). He will also return to the USA soon to tour with Catherine Britt and has also just been announced as an Official Showcasing artist for the 2022 Americanafest in Nashville in September.

Following the success of “The War” – Beverley Hillbilly Records recording artist - Colin Lillie - today releases the second single from his forthcoming EP.

“The Road” is a stunning duet with multi award winner, Catherine Britt, who also oversaw production of not only this track, but the entire EP.

“When all the world was in lockdown in 2020 I got in touch with Catherine to ask if she would be keen to write with me”,says Colin.

“I had this guitar melody and some random lyrics but I couldn’t find a solid lyrical foundation. To my surprise, Catherine said yes! So, I sent a very basic demo to Catherine and somehow she plucked a few words and inspiration and “The Road” was born”.

The self proclaimed gypsy Scotsman who resides in the red heart of Australia’s central desert, says “The Road” paints the picture of touring musicians who found it hard being off the road for the best part of the last two years.

“The essence of this song was the optimistic idea that we would be back on the road working again as normal after the initial lockdown – how wrong was I?”

“As a working artist I spent so much time away from home and my family were grateful for the lockdown because they could spend time with me, I could do the odd jobs around the house and we could just be a family again. Yet, underneath that gratitude was the knowing that I longed to be working and I needed to get back on the road to follow my dreams and pay the bills”.

NEWCASTLE SINGER SONGWRITER – SUZ DORAHY SIGNS TO CATHERINE BRITT’S BEVERLEY HILLBILLY RECORDS AND DROPS SINGLE, “TELL YOU

Catherine Britt is excited to announce a brand new signing to her boutique independent label, Beverley Hillbilly Records – welcoming Suz Dorahy to the roster.

“Not in my wildest dreams did I think at this point in my life would I be standing here with Catherine Britt being signed to her brand new record label. I’m so very excited for you to hear this new music”, says Suz Dorahy.

The first of an incredible batch of new songs is being unveiled today in the form Suz’s brand new single, “Tell You”.

Produced by Catherine Britt, “Tell You”, is a story of betrayal that is laid out simply and strong while revealing much vulnerability. At its core is a sentiment that is instantly relatable and full of stone cold truth.

“It took a mighty blow to crack me to the core”, says Dorahy.

“It's that moment of realisation where it turns out some folk are not who you thought they were”.

Suz Dorahy is the real deal. An authentic and nuanced singer and songwriter that you need to hear. But that realness didn’t come easily. It had to be earnt, nourished and developed. There were roadblocks all along the highway that needed to be overcome.

Life so often takes a dark turn and nine years ago Dorahy was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and then depression and chronic fatigue. It was a debilitating time and the songwriter locked herself away and used music as a form of escape.

“I spent seven years being a recluse and just tapping into my music because it took me to another place away from the darkness of depression and PTSD,” Dorahy explains. “Music was my saviour.”

Then Dorahy bumped into an old friend, Natalie Henry, who offered her the chance to travel to Tamworth and play with her group The Wayward Henrys. The opportunity was inspiration enough to bring Dorahy back into the light. “I honestly will be forever grateful to Nat, she brought me out of depression, made me believe in myself and changed my life,” Dorahy says.

Enter Catherine Britt who fell in love with Dorahy’s new songs and signed her to the new her boutique independent label, Beverley Hillbilly Records.

Suz Dorahy has emerged as a singer and songwriter of remarkable strength and presence. In her music you’ll hear the influences of those artists and styles that have inspired her. Think Sheryl Crow, Lucinda Williams, Lori McKenna, Allison Krauss, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac, old school country and western, Loretta Lynn, Jimmy Rogers, Hank Williams, Bill Monroe.

But you know what you hear more than all of that? You hear Suz Dorahy.

SCOTSMAN COLIN LILLIE JOINS BEVERLEY HILLBILLY RECORDS ROSTER AND DELIVERS FIRST SINGLE – “THE WAR”

Beverley Hillbilly Records is proud to announce the signing of Colin Lillie.

After finding a new home in the red heart of Australia’s central desert – Alice Springs – the gypsy Scotsman has thrived as a singer-songwriter.

After catching the ear of fellow artist and owner of Beverley Hillbilly Records, Catherine Britt, she not only signed Lillie to her label but also produced his forthcoming EP.

The first single lifted from the EP is “The War”.

“Within us all we have the answers to our pain, yet its not until we discover true love can we then win our own personal war on fear”, says Lillie.

“To be brave is to be loved or to be loved is to be brave. It’s not until we see the light of love do we truly accept we can change our narrative and that light can come from the most unexpected of places”.

In pre-production, Lillie admits he was a bit unsure of Catherine’s suggestion of including a time change in the song.

“She got so excited as she heard the time change immediately and to be honest, I wasn’t as excited. Yet in the spirit of the song, I was ready to see what would come from Catherine’s production idea … and gosh, she was right!”

“The War” was produced by Catherine Britt and mixed by Shane Nicholson. Shane also contributed guitar, keys and backing vocals, while Jeff McCormack was on bass, Steve Fearnley on Drums and Luke Moller on strings. Jim DeMain at Yes Master Studios in Nashville completed mastering.

NATALIE HENRY DROPS NEW ALBUM "WHITE HEAT" VIA CATHERINE BRITT'S BEVERLEY HILLBILLY RECORDS

Country music’s Wild Woman, Natalie Henry, has been sitting pretty on her sophomore album, "White Heat", which will debut with a whirlwind this September. "White Heat" comes on the back of two acclaimed single releases this year, "W**d, Wine and Women" and "More Than a Woman". Both were celebrated by the likes of Tim Rogers (You Am I), Shane Nicolson, and Freya Josephine Hollick.

"White Heat" is a country album through and through, but fans of the genre know that’s not as straightforward as it may seem. The album provides a rich landscape both sonically and stylistically of the many diverse and vibrant sounds of the Country genre. There’s tracks that feel straight out of Dolly-era Nashville (When’d You Change Your Mind; We Don’t Stand Together), as well as tracks that offer up a contemporary atmosphere (Reckless; Blue).

While the risk of an album offering both ends of the stylistic spectrum is confusion and discomfort for the listener, Henry glides by any doubts confidently and instead comes bearing an album that is so satisfyingly balanced and robust. That, paired with Henry’s no-holds, vulnerable and un-sanitised style of story telling, serve to make this album a timeless body of work.

“Well, it wasn’t easy…”, Henry begins when asked about the inspiration behind this album. “White Heat was only made possible by all the real life fixins’ that go into cookin’ up good stories. I did the heartbreak in live-action technicolour; the lovin’, the leavin’, the drinkin’ and grievin’. They disturbed all of the peace in me, and what came after the happenins’ were the songs. I hope it feels like I’m speakin’ the truths of many folks out there. ‘Cause lord knows I didn’t hold back to make myself seem shinier…”.

The album was made possible by Henry’s supportive and loyal community, who contributed a cool $15,000 to her Pozible crowd funding campaign. Recorded in the hills of Byron Bay at Rocking Horse Studio, the album was produced by accomplished Country music heavyweight Catherine Britt, as well as ARIA charting producer Michael Muchow. Henry is the first artist to be signed to Catherine Britt’s label, Beverley Hillbilly Records. Britt remarks, “I am so PROUD of this beautiful gem coming out on my record label!”.

"White Heat" is an album definitely worth paying attention to, with a bright future ahead.

CATHERINE BRITT CELEBRATES SIX MONTH ANNIVERSARY OF LATEST CHART BUSTING ALBUM – “HOME TRUTHS” - WITH RELEASE OF STELLAR TITLE TRACK

Boasting four number one hits, Catherine Britt’s latest album, “Home Truths”, celebrates its six-month anniversary with the release of the fifth and title track.

“Home Truths” was co-written with her good friend, Melody Moko, during a writing session for Melody’s album. When they finished the song they realised it was better suited for Catherine’s album.

“We felt it was more in the direction of how my record was heading – its more like the Dixie Chicks sort of vibe – that late 90’s country feel”, says Catherine.

“It was inspired by Melody’s and her husband, Michael’s relationship and how their dynamics are. He can tell her something that would be hard to take but with love she takes it on board. To me, this song is what country music is all about. It’s telling the hard truths but it’s being sung by someone like Hank Williams so you listen”.

Catherine says, plain and simple, “Home Truths”, is a song written about love.

“A love that understands who you are and loves you anyway. A love that can gently guide you - with words, kindness and understanding - into the light and keeps you on a true path. Everybody needs some Home Truths every now and again from the right person”.

The moving music video was shot by the wildly talented, Jazmyn Bowman, from Jazmyn Produces. It features a cameo from Melody laying down some “Home Truths” to Catherine.

On the back of a comedown from the euphoria and chaos, Natalie Henry, takes a resoundingly frank measure of life after leavin’ the slow and steady comforts of her old familiar in her new single, “More Than A Woman”.

With each line penned as though she forgot the question mark – Henry wages that reassurance oughta come cheap as she lilts between bargaining chips feeble and anguished – herself the one not buying: “If I pray real hard and drive real fast, I won’t look back … no, I’ll never look back”.

“More Than A Woman” licks the wounds and chokes back tears. It’s an inherited Medal of Courage trying to pass itself off as well earned, though the proclamation fools nobody. The tarnish on its face offset only by the polish of its introspection; Natalie Henry does candid and authentic better than we expect of her grade, proving her songwriting valour with each torch she dutifully holds to herself. A track that leaves an impression but never meant to. One for the honest and ill among us.

CATHERINE BRITT AND LEE KERNAGHAN PAY TRIBUTE TO THE “COUNTRY FAN” ON NEW SINGLE

The success of Catherine Britt’s latest venture into complete independence has been nothing short of phenomenal. The first three singles lifted from her latest album, “Home Truths”, released through her own Beverley Hillbilly Records have all found Number 1 chart positions along with comfortable spots on radio playlists across the country.

Now comes single number four.

“Country Fan” is a special thank you to her loyal fans that have continued to support her for two decades.

“I wrote Country Fan during Covid when I was doing the Facebook Lives and I realised, I have been doing this so long and there are people who have been with me since day one.

They’re still there, they still care and it just shocks me”, says Catherine.

“Country fans are their own breed of people and I love that. When we go out West on the Bush Pubs Tour and meet the country people - they’re so grateful that you’ve come and played in their small town – they love their country music. I grew up loving country music too so its like we’re kindred spirits”.

For the track, Catherine called upon her dear friend and another early champion of her music, Aussie country legend, Lee Kernaghan.

“Lee has always been such a supporter of my music, ever since I was a little girl going on tour with him. We’d sit around every night after the gig – he on piano and me on guitar and we’d do this thing called the musical challenge where we’d try and catch each other out with rare old songs - he’s such a music guy … I always won in case you were wondering!”
