In 2019, I attended and I learn a lot from people like & .

A story shared that day that has stuck with me. A story on when he started his photography business, he posted consistently. I think he then went mute for a while. One of his Facebook friends who happened to be a Cameroonian reached out to him and said he has been following his works silently for years and he really loved his works. They worked together and even referred him to other of his friends outside nigeria.

For people like us doing any creative work, certain people are watching us crawl, stand, fall over and over again. They're watching till we can walk without falling. Let's not disappoint them.

Our best is yet to come.

We hate being first to try out something.

We like certainty. We like being sure that the coast is clear before we make a move.

We've all heard this request "Any Questions" or "Any Suggestions" at the end of a class/session. But it's followed with SILENCE.

And there are some of us who never raise our hands even when we're unclear. (I'm in this group and I'm not proud of it😓).

Most of what we see has become cliche. We rarely see contents that cause us to flip the way we think or that makes us question how we've been doing/seeing things. Because the internet has handed everyone a microphone.

This has forced us to fit in and create average stuff for average people. Sure, some of us would get the applauds for this, but what happens to the rest of us?

What's scarce more than ever is "surprise".

I hope we do better from now on?
