Sabrina Osso was a victim of violence in her home who started Osso Safe to help children and adults feel safe and respected in their homes.

She is a TEDx Speaker, author, and Real Estate Agent on creating and maintaining respect in homes. Her TEDx presentation is entitled “If You’re A Victim of Home Violence, Don’t Leave...Stay”.

During the conversation, she talks about the importance of giving a voice to children, who are often the most victimized and most silenced. She educates them on safety and helps to ensure they are living in a safe space.

She talks about how Osso Safe combines education (through books, dances, and shows) and technology to prevent dangerous situations from occurring. She also discusses how Osso Safe communities are held to higher standards.

Dr. Michelle May is a former family physician, recovered yo-yo dieter, founder of Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Programs and Training, and author of the Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat book series that teaches mindful eating to resolve mindless and emotional eating and senseless yo-yo dieting.

She has trained over 800 health professionals to offer mindful eating programs. She is an Associate Professor at Arizona State University and taught a masterclass on mindful eating for the Calm App.

Dr. May is the co-author of an article reviewing the scientific evidence for why healthcare should shift to a weight-neutral approach that presents the evidence and framework for weight‐inclusive patient care practices.

During our conversation, she discusses what it means to have a non-diet, weight-inclusive, and mindfulness-based approach to health and wellness. She talks about eating from the inside out by paying attention to hunger, fullness, and feedback from our bodies.

She discusses how diets can lead to disordered eating, weight stigma, weight cycling, and other issues that do not lead to better health. She also talks about how people don’t have to weigh one specific narrow range to be healthy, beautiful, and acceptable.

She went years and years with undiagnosed anorexia, but she had a wake-up call when she had trouble getting pregnant. She shifted to focus on how working out made her feel instead of how it made her look.

She talks about the mind-body connection, Health at Every Size, and how we can take care of ourselves while bridging the gap between our mental health and physical health.

She also talks about how healing is possible for anyone struggling with food and body image.

In her picture book for adults, The Upside-Down Forest: Fables on Trauma Recovery, she parallels counseling in the way that she talks about healing from childhood trauma.

These stories are entertaining and creatively discuss trauma in a gentle way for survivors. So, while they can simply be taken as wonderful stories, people can also gain a deeper meaning from them as they are able.

She talks about how she has forgiven bullies, alcoholic parents, full years of her life, and even buildings. She talks about how we can forgive on a scale of 1 to 10 and how forgiveness sets us free to live our lives and become the people we are meant to be.

Kim Rahir had a full-time job, kids, and a beautiful home when she started seeing double and realized something was wrong. At only 45, she ended up paralyzed and spending six weeks in the hospital.

It took her six months to be able to walk again, and that was only the beginning. A year later, as she continued to have symptoms, she was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis (MS).

She talks about how she tried to regain her strength and started weightlifting. She is now a health coach for women who focuses on embracing female empowerment and confidence.

At the age of 60, she won a European Masters Weightlifting Championship, and she empowers women by teaching them that it is never too late to try something new.

In 2014, Kristelle took the leap to start Siarza Digital, a full-service marketing agency. She prides herself in having a strong team that is diverse in background, thought, and culture.

In 2020 she was convinced her business would not survive, but received assistance to help her continue on. However, during this time, she noticed that the API community was not receiving the same type of funding, resources, and support

In six months, she started a nonprofit, The Asian Business Collaborative, that helped the API community access PPE in addition to business resources and financial assistance.

Kristelle talks about the importance of DEI, educating ourselves, representation, and feeling comfortable in spaces. She also talks about how DEI is a place, not simply a term.

After her diagnosis, she felt like she was sorting through dark and heavy medical jargon to learn more about the disease. Wanting to help others with lupus, she wrote The Girlfriend's Guide to Lupus. Her book is a down-to-earth how-to guide that educates, inspires, and empowers women to navigate the ups and downs of living with lupus.

She talks about accepting her body, trying new things, and being inspired by the amputee community. Eva learned she had a genetic mutation that gave her an 87% chance of breast cancer and a 55% chance of ovarian cancer. In three months, she had a double mastectomy and hysterectomy.

Eva talks about honoring traumatic experiences, having resilience during difficult times, and healing through artistry.

She had a "b**b voyage" party before her surgery where she allowed her friends to paint her naked body from head to toe. She also coped with her changing body by writing a one-woman musical comedy which she has performed in the US, UK, and via Amazon streaming. Additionally, she has written the novel, "Pinocchio's Guide to the End of the World" which explores his adventures of Pinocchio as a human.

Risa was an Ironman athlete, but when she noticed that her body was changing in unusual ways, she turned to doctors for an answer. They ultimately found a tumor at the base of her brain and diagnosed her with Acromegaly.

She knew that her life and body wouldn't be the same, but that has not kept her from living big. Instead of focusing on what she couldn't do, she focused on what she could do. She pushed the limits of her body and ultimately rode her bike from Canada to Mexico down the Pacific Coast. She wrote a memoir about her journey called The Road Unpaved - Border to Border with a Brain Tumor and a Bike.

Risa talks about overcoming challenges, embracing her changing body, advocating for patients, and supporting others as a Gestalt Practitioner with a certificate in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
