John Grace from Midnight Movie Cowboys returns to talk about another Hong Kong vampire film – a complete Robocop rip-off that mostly makes no sense as it was a couple of films mashed together called Robo Vampire from 1988!!. John and I try to make sense of this train wreck of a film and while it’s nowhere near as good as any of the films that we’ve covered so far and might make you demand your 90 minutes back, it’s somehow fun...I think?
Check your brain at the door and prepare for some laughs! Special note to fans of our other show, The East Meets the West: One of the Venom Mob, Sun Chien, has a brief cameo in this flick (and we do mean BRIEF!)!!

We’re back after a bit of a hiatus! On today’s show, Re-Gor and Patsy discuss the Shaw Brothers film Sword Stained with Royal Blood from 1981 and the spaghetti western The Mercenary from 1968.
In Sword Stained with Royal Blood havoc breaks out when a warrior on the run uncovers a sword, training manual, treasure map and a secret message on the body of a deceased master. The Mercenary concerns Sergei Kowalski (Franco Nero), a mercenary only out for himself and a few dollars, who joins up with a Mexican peasant-turned-revolutionary, Paco Roman (Tony Musante) -- when the price is right. No longer content to toil for the rich and powerful, Roman plans to bring a new order to Mexico by force with his small ragtag group. While Roman and Kowalski are outnumbered facing the Mexican army, they also have to contend with Curly (Jack Palance), a vengeful killer out for blood.
Join us for a fun discussion!

So, while you're waiting for the next episode to drop, which will be very soon, I found this while getting scans for my Retro TV Guide and Vintage Newspaper Movie Listings page! After an unplanned hiatus, we’re back with more Shaw Brothers and Spaghetti Western goodness!!! On this episode, Patsy the Angry Nerd and I discuss the films 10 Tigers of Kwangtung from 1980, and The 5-Man Army from 1969.
In 10 Tigers, the Venoms are back in a complicated story that moves between past and present and details the origins of the Chinese legend of the 10 Tigers from Kwangtung! Great cinematography and fighting as always, and we had a hilarious time dissecting this film!
In the 5-Man Army, Peter Graves stars as a man who puts a team together for an almost impossible mission of robbing gold from a heavily guarded train. Bud Spencer co-stars and it’s great seeing these guys team up!!
So check out these great films and come back for our discussion!

We’re back!! Sorry for the delay! Patsy and I discuss Legend of the Fox from 1980 and The Big Gundown from 1966. In Legend of the Fox, Chin Siu Ho plays a young man who believes himself to be an orphan. Until one rainy night when he and three different men find themselves taking shelter from the storm in the same place.
The Big Gundown stars Lee Van Cleef as unofficial lawman John Corbett who is tasked with hunting down Cuchillo Sanchez, a Mexican peasant accused of ra**ng and killing a 12-year-old girl. Who needs an entire posse when you’ve got Lee Van Cleef??
Two highly entertaining films that you should definitely check out!! We take a fun dive into these films and hilarity ensues!!

Chris and I had the good fortune to interview the amazing actor, Paul Taylor, who is best known for his portrayal of Pinhead in Hellraiser: Judgment! Paul was very candid with us and opened up about stuff he’s never said in interviews before, and we are so honored that he shared these things with us! We had so much fun dishing about his career and dealing with various Hollywood personalities that we went over two hours with him! So, this is part one of our amazing interview with one of the nicest actors we’ve met! Enjoy!

Merry Christmas, everyone!! In our final episode for 2021, Chris and I continue our series about helping folks get someone interested in horror movies. Our recommendation is to start with the classic Universal horror films! In Part 1, we discussed Universal’s Dracula films, then Part 2 we discussed the Mummy films, and in Part 3 we talked about the Invisible Man series of films. Today we present Part 1 of our discussion of the Frankenstein films, starting with Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and Son of Frankenstein (1939).

All three films are well done, hold up today, and we had a blast talking about them! So snuggle up with your loved ones and watch the films, and then come back and listen to our rousing discussion! We’ll see you in 2022!!

Patsy and I return to our regular format as we delve back into the Venom films and a Bud Spencer film! First up is The Rebel Intruders from 1980. Three refugees become sworn brothers during a war. One (Kuo Chui/Philip Kwok) works in a w***e house, one (Chiang Sheng) in a gambling house, and the other (Lo Mang) in a martial arts school. They become embroiled in the war and are betrayed by one's mentor.

And in Today We Kil, Tomorrow We Die! (1968) Brett Halsey stars as a Django lookalike who goes on the warpath to avenge the death of his wife. Bud Spencer teams up with him, this time without Terence Hill! The film was co-written by Dario Argento, and we discuss his influence that can clearly be seen in this movie!

Last episode was part 2 of our Primer on Shaw Brothers films and Spaghetti Westerns. Today, we break our usual form again as we will NOT be discussing a Venom film from Shaw or a Terence Hill related Spaghetti Western. This episode, we’ve got a very special guest returning to the show, podcaster extraordinaire, Derek M Koch! Derek, Patsy and I discuss two wonderful films: just in time for Halloween we present the Shaw Brothers/Hammer Films team-up, Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires (1974) and the Spaghetti Western, Requiem for a Gr**go (1968). You’re in for a great treat!

Be sure check out the cool lobby cards & posters from 7 Golden Vampires and Gr**go posters in the show notes!
