Lightroom tutorial 🔥➡️. We hiked 8 miles on Devils Garden trail at Arches with the plan of making sunset at the Delicate Arch. Little did we know that hike itself is easily an hour long, especially on sore legs 😂😂. We didn’t make sunset but I was prepared for some Astro shots anyway. I hope you enjoy watching the process as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Life isn’t perfect. Every struggle and hardship is an opportunity to look inward and see how we can be better. How we can push our mind to think differently or frame situations in a way that helps us and doesn’t hurt us. I’m a hard head. I’m stubborn. I sometimes like to stick my head in the sand and keep trudging Along. But that’s the easy thing to do. The hard thing is to look inward and see where our faults are. To see how we get in our own way. Thank you for always being a support to my growth process and for pushing me to improve in all aspects. I truly appreciate and love you.

“Perfect is the Enemy of Good.” Man, I saw this quote on someone’s Facebook yesterday and it really resonated. If I had a nickel for every time I didn’t start something or didn’t finish something because it wasn’t exactly perfect.. well, I’d have a lot of nickels. I almost didn’t post this photo. I like aspects of it don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think it’s even close to a 10/10. But nothing ever is. I will find mistakes and annoyances in every single shot I take or post and in every video I make. Just ask (she hears all about it lol) A part of that has to do with the simple fact that it’s mine. I’m sure I could see the same photo on someone else’s feed and I’d be thinking “man that’s great I want photos like that.” It’s impossible to be completely objective about your own work. You’re too close to it. So instead, create things that are good and continue to try to improve upon them over and over again. The improvement is the fun part anyway!

Where do you struggle with having to be perfect? I’d love to hear about it!

Every day is an opportunity to wake up and do something different than you’ve done in the past to pursue your goals. Chasing dreams isn’t a 9-5. Sometimes it’s a 9-9, or a 7-9 or even more. Sometimes it’s finishing your day job to start your real job. Our society is set up to force us in to the rat race. It’s okay to do something you dont want to do to get you to the next place where you can do what you want. Just make sure you keep the real goal in perspective!

Hospitals, more hospitals, driving cross country, urgent cares, these are a few of the things that have happened in the last few weeks. Man what a roller coaster. I’m happy to say that is healing up and on the other side of it all. What a trooper. I’ve been a little absent in the last few days getting everything situated back in California, but hopefully I’ll be able to get back into a regular rhythm now. Catching a plane to Seattle shortly, and I’m excited for what I have planned for the feed in the coming weeks :). Oh yeah, and here’s a sunset shot in Puerto Rico.

I hope everyone has been doing well and staying healthy.

I quit photography. At least for a long long time. Last year I bought a Leica Q2 as a walk around camera since we were going to be living in the Czech Republic for 6 months while shooting Ballerina. That little camera is pretty much responsible for me getting back on the photography horse and I’m so glad I made that choice. These are a couple rainy day shots I got after we arrived to our little hotel visiting Munich Germany over a weekend.

What’s something you’ve quit in the past but returned to with a new fire later? Sometimes we need that break to come back with fresh perspective and new motivation.

This 95mm Tilt shift really gave this image a dreamy effect! For pretty much any forest shot to get greens like this you want to desaturate the green channel and actually you mostly want to desaturate the yellows. Our brains tend to remember greens in this way, but when you take a photo, the yellows are what make the greens looks so hyper saturated. I really prefer to eliminate for my style and what i like to look at. There’s no right or wrong way but that’s what works for me! :)

Catching sunset just before a crazy storm at Montones in Puerto Rico. I thought the shoot was gonna be a bust because I was hoping for a bright sunny day but ended up with some fantastic moody overcast images I can’t wait to share. Just goes to show that even if something isn’t what you expect you can always find the silver lining if you’re looking!

Welcome to the road less traveled. It's the road to your dreams, or your goals if that sits better with you. It's full of heartache, frustration, disappointment, impatience, failures (many), naysayers, and self-doubt. But it's also filled with joy, inspiration, wonder, gratification, growth, triumph, and most importantly, a massive amount of fulfillment. It's the hardest thing you'll do, but it's the most worthwhile. I remember working at a cell phone store, feeling like the clock was ticking and I was wasting every minute of my life, longing for something more. When I finally took the leap to quit and pursue my passions, the days got longer and the days got harder, but that feeling that I was wasting my life had vanished. More than worth it. Take steps every day that move you closer to where you want to be. Keep pushing.

Ocean or Active volcano 🌋?

Photo tip! You can use a neutral density filter (like sunglasses for your lens) to be able to slow your shutter speed down without overexposing for images like this to get that silky smooth dreamy water effect. A side effect to shooting this way is it makes your shots more intentional as you cant just spray away.

For shots like this and the majority of my work I like to underexpose a bit just to be sure not to blow out any highlights. Some of this is using your histogram or meter if you need, but after a while and especially on cameras with an evf you get used to your camera system to the point where you can just eyeball it. Snagged this one at sunrise at Cueva De Las Golondrinas. That place just kept on giving as a lot of my recent posts show 🎁
