Ah summer. Horror tends to be most popular when the weather turns cooler, leaves change, and snow hits the ground. To me though, summer is the ideal time to dive into all things creepy. There’s something incredibly disarming about being out in the sun, feeling the anticipation and joy of longer days and warm summer nights and having that peace completely destroyed by the unexpected. Summer horror is truly special. Swipe right to see some of my favorite summer reads, as well as a few that will be released this summer!

I had no idea I needed wedding horror in my life until I read this book. Planning a big event can be TORTURE. The logistics, the drama, the planning. *shudders* If you were a fan of the films Ready or Not or Hostel and are looking for a tongue in cheek, cinematic horror novel, then this book is for you! I seriously loved the ride and it quickly became one of my favorite reads. Definitely say I Do to The Avenue 💍

Sooo… I was going to make a billion end of year lists but honestly, the only way I want to end this year is thanking everyone who follows this page, the authors who wrote the stories that let me escape the world when it got too hard, and the amazing community who fully embraced me when I decided to take a chance and start a bookstagram page and podcast. I have some seriously awesome author interviews to share coming up in 2022 as well as some other surprises. Thanks for being here, and please don’t unfollow me for this dad joke:

“I love when they drop the ball in Times Square ..... It's a nice reminder of what I did all year.”

It’s apparently “no buy November” where you read books you own without adding anymore to your collection during the month. I’ve already failed at this challenge three times over and I’m not done yet lol. October wasn’t a great reading month for me but I did reread a handful of favorites, including this beauty. So honored to have the chance to get signed copies from some of my favorite authors, these copies are definitely some of my most prized possessions. What’s everyone reading this month?

Witches and the occult have long been a favorite sub-genre of the horror world. Witches have often been used as scapegoats throughout history to explain away disasters and tragedy. While the terms Witch and Bruja have recently gone through a bit of a reclamation, this is still a popular trope in horror. Swipe right to see some of my favorite witchy tales.

Folk horror- another of my absolute favorite sub-genres. While the term “folk horror” is relatively new, the sub-genre itself is an ancient one. Folk horror takes elements of folklore to create that all too familiar feeling of forbidding. This genre has seen a bit of a resurgence recently thanks to films like Midsommar and reminds us that even in this modern world the old ways remain. Swipe right for some of my favorite folk horror stories. Happy reading!
