Viewers/readers,

In the last few months, it has become more and more difficult to give the magazine the attention that it deserves. Life happens, changes happen, and we feel our team has a lot on their plate at this time. Because of this, the magazine will be taking a hiatus at least until the end of the year.

We greatly appreciate your contributions to our issue as well as your continued support. We hope to come back next year with a new plan, new ideas, and a fresh perspective.

Thank you so much for your patience! Congrats to our cover artists, Patka Aparatka and Tim Bracey Photography! Note that the first half of this magazine is on the more family friendly side of Halloween, while the later half is a bit more spooky! Such a fun issue!

Also a big shoutout to mkilgoreart, our featured artist for this issue! Her featured pieces are apart of a larger series titled, “Spooky Springfield”!

Emails will be sent out a little later today with published photog/artist badges!

Hello all!

We thank those of you who submitted for the Halloween issue. We had anticipated on getting that out to you today, but sometimes life happens and things don’t work out as planned— Saturday our head editor was sick and yesterday, she dealt with a hit and run car accident. She’s fine, but has some work ahead of her for sure!

We still anticipate getting that issue to you this week, but it will not be out today, unfortunately. We hope you all understand!

We hope you had a fun Halloween weekend! Stay safe and healthy!

Good afternoon!

We wanted to remind you that our Halloween issue is currently open for submissions through the 27th. We are hoping this nearly month-long submission window will allow more time for photographers, writers, and artists to plan, create, and submit.

We have created a board of photos that we hope inspire you to try new things/experiment! Also note that not all submissions have to be “spooky”. Halloween means something different for everyone!

We are needing a new cover photo (or photos) for our Facebook for the month of October!

To be considered, please comment with one photo and include your business name. Horizontal/landscape oriented photos work best!

If more than one winner is selected, then one persons’ photo will be featured as the Facebook cover photo for the first half of the month, and the second photo will be featured for the second half of the month.
Winners are guaranteed a spot in a future magazine!

A winner (or winners) will be chosen Sunday, 10/10. Good luck!

We’re changing things up! Please read prior to submitting.

Issue 27 | Halloween is now open for submissions, and will be open for most of the MONTH!
We want to allow more time for our writers, artists, and photographers to create works around our themes and submit. Depending on the size of this issue, it may be broken out into two issues. This theme encompasses all things Halloween — spooky scenes, kids & adults in costume, pumpkins— you name it.

Tolkien and his son and editor, Christopher J.R. Tolkien, and celebrates the Middle-earth cycle for the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit books! We thought it would be fun to honor this and release a “Fantasy” issue! As always, photos, art, and writing submitted should revolve around the theme, so think of magical, supernatural, and fantasy elements!

Update: the Vintage issue has been cancelled. We felt that there were not enough submissions that matched the theme to complete the issue.

With that being said, our next submission call— “Fantasy” — will open tomorrow. This theme is in honor of J. R. Tolkien Week/Hobbit Day (Sept 22). This is a broad theme, so we hope it will bring in a large number of submissions! 💚

Issue 25 | Vintage is now open for submissions!

“Vintage” includes anything emulating a certain period of time / dating of the past — decade photoshoots (20s, 50s, 80s, etc), old cars, retro fashion— you name it! Photo work should be taken by you (the photographer) and should be relatively current.

Photographers/writers:

We would love to see some writing for the Maternity issue. Below are some ideas as to what we might accept, though we are open to other ideas!

- a guide/tips on shooting maternity photos, shooting photos in the delivery room or at home (home births), etc.
- creative writing (poetry, non-fiction, etc) from mothers/others regarding pregnancy, becoming mothers, having children, etc. We also welcome those who have suffered loss to have the opportunity to share your stories.

Please message us if you are interested! We need this sooner rather than later to allow time for our editors to review/make suggestions and get it in the next issue!

This is our first maternity issue! Any maternity photos including of that expecting persons/families, delivery, bo***ir, OR newborns, etc. are welcome. This will be an issue that will permit certain instances of nudity — however, if you do not wish to post your submission as a comment here (due to the graphic nature or nudity), you are welcome to email us your submission.

For PHOTOGRAPHY

Upon acceptance, you will be sent a submission form to complete your submission. We meant to post this yesterday, but it’s been a crazy month and we’re getting back into the swing of things! It’s about time we did a night sky issue given our name, right?! This can entail afternoon sunsets, evening stars, northern lights/aurora polaris, morning skies— you name it.

We haven’t done a flash issue in a while! “Flash” simply implies a smaller submission window, as well as a faster release date! This submission call will close Sunday EOD, and we will send acceptance messages on Monday!

Comment with one to two photos and tag your business name. No cell phone photos please.

Issue 23 | Summertime is now open for submissions!

Note: we’re doing things a little differently for this issue, posting a submission call on a Monday instead of the normal Wednesday, as we are behind schedule. We will be updating the schedule pinned on our page with new dates/deadlines ASAP.

This mag encompasses all things Summer! Vacations, beaches, pools, swimwear, summer treats, sunflowers, families or solo photo sessions— you name it! In addition to photography, as always, we’d love to see some writing or artwork for this issue! For writing, we might be looking for someone to provide tips on shooting photos on sunny days, shooting water/poolside, or submit more creative work such as short stories, poetry, nonfiction, etc that has some summer detail to it! Message us your ideas, or submit your work via email!

To submit your photography, comment with 1-2 photos (the second as a comment of your first comment) using your personal FB, and tag your business page. If you comment using your business page, then Facebook will not allow us to message you to let you know that your image has been accepted.
