EMBRACING THE CHANGE

“You knew that I would change, and I think that you are trying to say that it’s okay.” These are the words from one of my favorite songs, “Yet” by Maverick City.

Are you one of those who mourn past versions of yourself? Do you say to yourself, “I wouldn’t have done this a while ago. Oh, I miss my old self”? I am a perpetual victim of this. I find myself wishing I could bring back the old me.

Well, embracing your changes means being audacious and courageous enough to discover and accept the new you. It means letting go of the familiar and holding tightly to the lessons. It means soaking in your experiences and, just like water, embracing the twists and turns of it all.

The new you could be better—in fact, is better. The song “Yet” opens my eyes to the fact that even God knew I would change, but it’s okay. Just the consolation that he isn’t seeking for perfection it’s all I need to run to him daily. I mean, the David that killed Goliath wasn’t the same person who was king. The changes in his life shaped him.

Dear mullans, let the changes in your life sharpen you.

MOSES NA HUMAN BEING

Studying Moses in the bible has made me see him, his character and how he could speak to us today.

Moses was never scared to express his humanity. He knew God wasn’t seeking for perfection so he showed up flawed and all.

He expressed to God when he felt inadequate, worried and confused. I mean, Moses was dealing with an identity crisis. One minute he was an Egyptian the next a Hebrew. The man was dealing with a lot.

He asked for proof, yes, (Daddy Moses sha stress God) but one thing I know for certain, through his story, is that God can be stretched.

Another astonishing thing about Moses was his humility and his ability to discern whom to receive counsel from.

He had alot of respect for his father-in-law, Jethro, and he recognized that God may be in heaven but he left mentors on earth.

We need to seek wisdom and counsel from the right source and with the internet running wild it’s a good thing we have bibles, parents, mentors and spiritual leaders.

Growing up I was an absolute Disney princess I loved “suit life on deck” “ Hannah Montana “ “ wizards of wavery places “ I mean, you name it .

Then there was “lemonade mouth” the film that brought this phrase to me “when life throws you lemons you make lemonades”. I made a pact with myself to make the best out of every bad situation.

Recently a friend asked me how I handle regret. I told him I barely regret. This is not because it sounds good or perfect; it is just my truth. Pain is a teacher and pain is the pathway to success.

Who would agree with me that we learn the most from our most difficult experiences? So I urge us not to focus on the negative aspects of our most difficult experience, rather see them for what they truly are: OUR GREATEST TEACHERS!
