HomeGrown | I realised I don’t share much about my podcast with on this account, so here goes a little self-appreciation, bear with me...
We started in the summer of 2020. As a society we were in the depths of chaos (and still are tbh 🤷🏾♀️) - waiting with baited breath to see the long-term impact of a year of protests in HK, manoeuvering through the unknown territory of a global pandemic, reeling from a brutal murder that catapulted the long-standing mistreatment of Black people to the world stage. All this plus the personal battles we all face as individuals trying to find sanity when it feels like we’ve lost our footing in the world.
We set out to be a steady, honest and familiar voice in the midst of it all, creating a platform for our community to share our stories and experiences as Black people living in Asia. And nearly a year in, I like to think that’s exactly what we’ve done so far.
I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved so far, and I’m excited to keep making an impact, no matter how small. Baby steps but steps all the same!
If you don’t follow already, now is a good a time as any - hit that blue button, and maybe tell a friend to tell a friend too 😄😄
Right, long-ass caption over - let me go back to my beans and dodo ✌🏾
