Oyo Govt. Steps Up Palliatives Distribution Drive

The 15-man Palliative Committee on Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) has assured residents of the State that it will start disbursement of palliatives soon.

The Committee, headed by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi has divided itself into 5 sub-committees to fast-track the implementation of the palliatives, as directed by the Governor.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade on Monday in Ibadan.

Ogunwuyi said the state government was not unaware of the anticipation by citizens to benefit from the palliatives promised by Governor Seyi Makinde to mitigate the impact of the removal of fuel subsidy.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Segun Ogunwuyi, at a meeting with the enlarged committee members, said the palliatives would be rolled out the moment the Governor ratifies the final template for the implementation from members.

He added that input will be extended to 10,000 farmers in various enterprises.

Also, YEAP beneficiaries and small holders farmers who are known and proven to be engaging in active farming will benefit from the N500M government loan.

Hon. Ogunwuyi added that new routes have been mapped out by the Transportation sub-committee for residents of the State.

..as gov pledges to redouble efforts in taking people from poverty to prosperity

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, his deputy, Barr. Abdulroheem Bayo Lawal and the 32 Oyo House of Assembly members-elect, on Wednesday, received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

INEC's National Commissioner in charge of Oyo and Lagos states, Mr. Sam Olumekun, presented the certificates to the winners of the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly election in the state, at an event held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Governor Makinde, who spoke shortly after receiving the Certificate of Return, declared that he will redouble efforts towards taking the people of the state from poverty to prosperity.
The governor maintained that electioneering campaigns were over and it was time for the government to face the task of governance and building a state that will be the envy of all other states in Nigeria.
He appreciated the Resident Electoral Commissioner and his team, saying that the election in the state is a good reference point for elections across the country.
He said: “Today is not a day for long speeches but a day to thank the Almighty God on behalf of all the elected officials in Oyo State.
"I want to use this opportunity to say that elections, electioneering campaigns are over now. No more abuses and all that, and it is time for us to face the task of governance and building a state that will be an envy for all the states in Nigeria.

"This is the time for us to redouble our efforts towards taking our people from poverty to prosperity. This is a day to reflect on the decision of the people of Oyo State. It is a day to acknowledge all the people who have contributed one way or another to making today a success.

"I want to especially appreciate the Resident Electoral Commissioner and his team, because the Oyo State election is a reference point for elections right across the country. My co-contestants have congratulated me, and I received a call personally from my brother, Bayo Adelabu, and we got a notice from Senator Teslim Folarin as well. That is the spirit in Oyo State.
"Let me finally say thank you to my leaders and elders."

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran Tella, said that the commission is mandated by law to issue certificates of return within 14 days, to every candidate who has been returned elected.
"The electoral event is specifically designed for the presentation of certificates of return to the governor-elect, deputy governor-elect and 32 elected members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, for which the election took place on March 18 in the Pacesetter State.”

His wife, Engr.Tamunominini, voted at Unit 08 Army, Barracks, Iwo Road, also in Ibadan North East Local Government of the state.

Makinde had arrived the voting point at 10:40 am, and cast his vote at about 10:48am.

He had earlier been verified and accredited with the BVAS machine.

Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, the governor described the voting process as peaceful while also commending the security agencies for doing a good job.

WE WILL DELIVER ON OUR MANDATE TO MAINTAIN PEACE-AIG ZONE 11.. ASSURES OYO RESIDENTS OF PEACEFUL POLLS

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 11, which covers Oyo and Osun States, S.K Akande, has said that residents of Oyo State should freely come out to perform their civic duties on Saturday March 18 without exercising any fear of intimidation or harassment.
The AIG, in a statement released late on Friday, assured Oyo State voters that the Police will ensure the conduct of peaceful polls in the state.

The statement read: "Sequel to happenings in Oyo State especially in Ibadan axis, the AIG Zone 11 Command, Osogbo, has re-assured the citizens of Oyo State of their safety and directed that the electorate should go out and vote their choice candidates without any fear of intimidation or harassment on Saturday.
"More security personnel have been deployed to Oyo State to fortify the state.

"The Police hereby promise to deliver on the mandate of securing the electorate, electoral materials, and INEC staff to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in Saturday's Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

"The unreasonable killing of innocent souls, which happened in Ibadan, will not be tolerated again, and all perpetrators of this evil act will be dealt with.

"AIG S. K. Akande has also warned all troublemakers to desist with immediate effect or have themselves to blame.

Ibadan South-East killing of PDP members, proof of APC's desperation- Makinde’s Campaign Media Organisation

…says APC gov candidate will wreck Oyo

The Media Committee of the Governor ‘Seyi Makinde Campaign Organisation has condemned the killing of four members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South-East Local Government by thugs suspected to be loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin.

The governor’s media team, which called on security agencies to immediately arrest Folarin and all his boys who masterminded the killing of innocent PDP members, said that the incident has finally vindicated the general belief that the APC candidate is a violent man and a kingpin of thugs and brigands.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to the governor, Moses Alao, on behalf of the Media Committee, lashed out at Folarin and the APC for their penchant to orchestrate violence and disturb the peace of Oyo State in the name of politics.

The statement called on the Police to thoroughly investigate the incident with a view to bringing the culprits to book, stating that the blood of the innocent people slain in Ibadan South-East will forever cry for vengeance.

The governor’s campaign media team equally warned residents of the state to “shine their eyes” on Saturday and not to allow Folarin, a disciple of Ex-Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, who allegedly wrecked his state when he served as governor in Osun.

According to the statement, it was laughable and funny how Folarin’s ill-fated ambition has become a caricature with the invitation of Aregbesola, to campaign for him in Oyo State.
The group called on Oyo State voters not to elect an individual who is taking notes and direction from an ex-governor whose legacy in his state include meaningless and monumental debts, with workers and pensioners in anguish, sorrow and endless gnashing of teeth.

Makinde, Accord Party senatorial candidate, Shina Peller, others hold rally in Iseyin

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, was joined by the Oyo North Senatorial Candidate of the Accord Party and member representing Iseyin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for the governorship rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Iseyin Local Government.
The governor maintained that he is assured of victory in Saturday’s governorship election because it is God’s own project, adding that more achievements will come to the state under Omituntun 2.0.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the governor, who also inspected ongoing works at the College of Agriculture and Renewable Energy of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Iseyin Campus, said his administration has committed huge resources into the project.
He added that when completed, the Campus will become a centre of academic excellence and a tourist attraction, adding that he will consolidate on all achievements recorded under Omituntun 1.0, when he is re-elected.
Governor Makinde, who also met with Oke Ogun traditional rulers, tasked the people of Iseyin to tell those who are in doubt that the campus will become a tourist centre the way University of Ibadan used to be before the end of 2023.

The governor, who moved through the town with a mammoth crowd of party loyalists, thanked the people of Iseyin for their support.
He maintained that all political parties such as Labour Party Accord Party and Social Democratic Party (SDP) have agreed to cast their votes for PDP in the coming governorship and state assembly election on Saturday, stating that the PDP would coast home to victory.

While speaking at the LAUTECH Campus, Makinde said: "I greet all the traditional rulers, the CAN Chairman and Governing Council of LAUTECH, ably led by Professor Ayodeji Omole and all the elders in Iseyin.
"What I have come to do here is to talk about one or two things. I learnt some people are saying that we are lying about the Campus we had proposed to build here. And I know that, officially, the commitment we have put into the project is well over N5b, and it is ongoing.
"What we are planning to build here is a University and not a secondary school. This is a 500 capacity lecture hall. So, tell those who are in the city that this Campus will become a tourist centre the way University of Ibadan used to be, before the end of this year.
"And for the election on Saturday, I am confident of winning because it is a project God had already settled. For this reason, I want to promise you that Omituntun 2.0 will be better than Omituntun 1.0."

In his address, the Pro-Chancellor, LAUTECH, Prof. Omole, expressed confidence that the Campus will commence academic activities by the next academic session, adding that the state government provided necessary support for the governing council of the institution to record certain success.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of Iseyin Elders council, Alhaji Moshood Olanrewaju, on behalf of the people of Iseyin commended Governor Makinde on the giant strides recorded in Iseyin.
He pledged that the people of the town will reciprocate the gesture by voting enmasse for Governor Makinde and other PDP candidates in Saturday’s election.

Second term: Makinde receives Aare Musulumi, Chief Imam of Ibadanland's blessings
..as clerics laud gov over fairness to all religions

Governor of Oyo State, 'Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, paid a visit to the residence of the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Daud Akinola, where he declared that his administration has, in the last three and half years, been fair to all religions in the state.

The governor, who also received the blessings of the Aare Musulumi and the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiy Abubakar Agbotomokekere, towards his re-election bid, said he will continue to serve the people of the state with fear of God when he is re-elected as governor.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the duo of Aare Musulumi and Chief Imam of Ibadanland commended the governor for governing the state with the fear of God as well as being fair to the Muslim Ummah and adherents of other religions in the state.
They equally commended the governor for the renovation of the Oja'ba Central Mosque, Ibadan, which they noted had been yearning for renovations for years.
They, therefore, prayed for the success of the governor in his re-election bid.
In his remarks, Governor Makinde maintained that he was assured that the prayers of the clerics would make him victorious in Saturday, March 18 governorship election, adding that there has been religious harmony in all the nooks and crannies of the state because of the prayers and support of the religious leaders.

The governor equally explained that when he is re-elected, his administration will be continue to be fair and just in relating with all religions in the state, saying: "As we have done in these last 45 months, we will continue to be fair to all religions.
"Whatever is due to Muslims, Christians and traditional worshipers will be given to them equally without any bias or favouritism. I have said this many times, but I will reiterate it here, that we will continue to serve Oyo State people with fear of God. We will serve without favouritism or bias towards any religious organisation."

The governor added that equity, fairness, and inclusiveness would remain sacrosanct in his government, pledging that all the achievements recorded in the past three and half years would be consolidated under Omititun 2.0.
Governor Makinde also appreciated the support his administration has been enjoying from various religious organizations in the state, saying that the gathering at Aare Musulumi's residence demonstrated unity and tolerance among the religious leaders in the state.

A special prayer was also offered by the Political Affairs Coordinator of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Oyo State, Bishop Daniel Oluwajimade.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor of the state, Barr. Abdulroheem Bayo Lawal, commissioners, PDP leaders; Oyo State CAN chairman, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju, Muslim scholars and Ibadan Mogajis.
Notable political bigwigs from other political parties, including the Accord Party House of Representatives Candidate in penultimate Saturday's election and son of the immediate past Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Abulazeez Arisekola Alao, Faruk; Dr. Ibrahim Ajiboye of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and a former Commissioner for Finance under the last administration in Oyo State, Mr. Abimbola Adekanbi.

Makinde commissions remodeled Ojoo Police station, commends police, other security agencies
..donates 74 vehicles to Divisional Police stations in Oyo

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, commissioned the new Ojoo Divisional Police Headquarters, Ibadan, which was constructed by the state government following its destruction during the protest, which engulfed the country in 2021.

The governor, while speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the Ojoo Roundabout, said that his administration will continue to maintain cordial relationship with the Police and other security agencies.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the governor equally handed over 74 vehicles to Divisional Police Stations across the state, commending Police officers and other security agencies for keeping lives and properties safe and secured in the state.

The governor explained that the cooperation of the security agencies in the state with his administration and the synergy among the Police and other security agencies have ensured that criminalities were reduced to the barest minimum in the state.
The governor, who stated that he has received an additional report from the judicial panel set up to look into the incidents of police brutality in the aftermarth of the protest, said that he will act on the report to ensure that everyone who lost lives and properties will get adequate compensation.

He said: "Let me remind everybody that this time four years ago, I was nearly killed at a spot close to this location. They shot at my vehicle and the bullet impact is still on the bus we used for our campaign that year. Despite that, you came out and voted massively for me. So, I see this as an opportunity to thank you, my good people of Ojoo.
"The Police station we rebuilt here is one of the three police stations destroyed during the protest. The damage done to the one at Egbeda was not much. The one at Iseyin was extensively damaged including the shops surrounding it. I am aware that it was the PCRC that renovated the one in Egbeda and I appreciate that.
"With this new Police Station here, we are restoring the facilities and also using the opportunity to build and further cement the relationship among the Police, the people and this administration.
"Let me also use this opportunity to thank the Nigerian Police, Oyo State Command, because you are doing very well for our people.
"I have been on this job for close to four years now. I get a security report every morning and find different issues, ranging from robbery, murder, arson and all sorts. But in the past one year or so, I have had days that when I get a security report, I go back to relax and take my coffee, because such reports pointed no ugly incidents across the length and breadth of Oyo State. So, thank you for the efforts.

"Equally, I would like to use this opportunity to thank other security agencies who have been working cooperatively with the Police Force. On behalf of the good people of Oyo State, you have been toiling tirelessly to keep us safe and this is our own time to say thank you."
The governor, who urged residents of the area to see the new facility as their own, noted that whenever protests are allowed to get to the point of vandalism and destruction of public properties, the people themselves will pay for it while the resources meant for other developmental projects will likely be diverted to rebuilding such properties.
"When the CP was talking, he said this project belongs to the residents of Ojoo. So, as citizens, you have to be careful about how protests are carried out. "Yes, during , I stood with the people because the people have the right to protest when they feel things are going wrong. But, as we witnessed, the protest was hijacked by hoodlums.
"We all know that resources are scarce and when things like this happen, we have to use part of the scarce resources to replace what was destroyed. "There are about 74 Divisional Police stations and each of them got a vehicle today. During the protest, four operational vehicles were destroyed but today, we are replacing the four with 74.

"Well, you already know that I am an advocate of State Police and restructuring and I hope that in the nearest future, we will surely achieve this. But in the meantime, let me pledge to the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in Oyo State that we will continue to support you," he added.
The governor also used the occasion to address the outcome of the state's EndSARS panel, noting that the report had to be reviewed to accommodate Policemen who lost their lives in the incident and that the report has now been resubmitted to him.
He said that he was ready to give the report the required attention.
"I know some may be saying some other people were also badly affected by the protests and want to know about the outcome of the Judicial Panel. The day the Panel brought their report, I asked them to take it back because, in their recommendations, they did not include the police officers who lost their lives.
"I am happy to say that the report has been reviewed and the new one has been submitted to me, and I will act to ensure that Police and all those who lost one thing or the other during the protest, are duly compensated," the governor said.

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Adebowale Williams, commended the governor for being a visionary leader who is interested in improving the security architecture of the state.
He called on the residents of Ojoo to see the new Police station as their property and ensure it is protected at all cost.

In his remarks, Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Makinde and a retired Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni (rtd), stated that the governor has done something unprecedented in the history of security architecture in the state.

He explained that the Governor Makinde-led administration has donated more than 500 security vehicles, a feat he noted is uncommon even at the federal level.

Wike joins Oyo gov to commission 3.2km Ibadan Airport Road, aviation fuel facility
..flags off Olunloyo Park, rallies support for PDP in gov election

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Friday, was joined by his Rivers State counterpart, Barr. Nyesom Wike, to commission the 3.2 kilometres dual carriage Ibadan Airport Road named after a former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo and the 500,000 Litres Aviation Fuel Storage and Dispensing Facility located within the Ibadan Airport, Alakia.

The two projects, embarked upon by the state government, were lauded by Governor Wike as part of the Makinde administration's infrastructure revolution, even as he called on residents of the state to re-elect the governor for another term in order to enable him continue to deliver landmark projects to the state.
The Rivers State governor equally flagged off the Omololu Olunloyo Park, which will serve as a car park for transport services to and from the Airport.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the aviation fuel facility, a Public-Private Partnership project built by BOVAS Company Limited, is part of Governor Makinde's efforts to ensure the upgrade of the Ibadan Airport to an international airport and, thereby, boost the economy of the state.

Speaking during the commissioning event, Governor Makinde explained that the completion and commissioning of the 3.2 kilometres road and the aviation fuel tank projects were fulfillment of the promises he made to the people of the state.
He called on the people of the state to re-elect him on March 11, so that the state could move onto Omituntun 2.0, which is about the sustainable development of the state.
According to Makinde, who stated that the commissioning of the Airport Road is part of his vision to turn the surrounding areas of Ibadan Airport into an aerotropolis, all the projects and policies of his government have ensured that the Oyo State economy continues to grow.

He added that his administration will continue to serve the good people of the state till the last day of his first tenure in office and that it will continue to honour heroes and leaders, who have served the state diligently.
He further stated that with the completion of the Aviation Fuel Facility, an aircraft will be fuelled for the first time in the history of Ibadan Airport and that the state is well on its way to achieving the upgrade of the Ibadan Airport to an international airport.

He said: "You are all welcome to the commissioning of the Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo Ibadan Airport Road, which is part of our vision of turning the surrounding areas of Ibadan Airport into an aerotropolis.
“They have explained to us the other projects attached to it but history is being made here today because after the speeches here, for the first time, an aircraft will be fuelled at Ibadan Airport. Those who are saying all the projects we have been carrying out are audio, they will see the video of the aircraft being fuelled here.
“Let me specially thank Captain Edward Boyo, MD of Overland Airways, who flew the aircraft down here to take the fuel and would fly away with it. So, those of you here today, I congratulate you for witnessing this history, which will be in the book of records.
“I shared my dream of seeing aeroplanes take off and land on this airport every thirty minutes and I have also shared my of this airport becoming an international airport. We are well on that journey. "Our vision goes beyond building roads as we have ancillary projects, which this airport is part of.
“When we came into office, I remember stating in my inaugural speech that depending on over 60 per cent of FAAC allocation was not sustainable. So, I promised that we would take actions that will put Oyo State on the path to sustainable development. With this project being commissioned today, I am happy to report that we have kept that promise.

“Our projects and policies have ensured that Oyo State economy continues to grow. As of 2022, we have reduced Oyo State dependence on FAAC to just about 50 per cent. But this will be one of the last projects we will commission before the election, and it is significant that we have taken another step towards opening our state to further economic growth.
"I can say this is a transition project. On one hand, it was conceived as one of the projects that will form that foundation for accelerated development, which we call Omituntun 1.0. Work on this road commenced in the month of February 2022, we have completed it in one year and just in time to move into Omituntun 2.0.
"We believe that just as you gave us the mandate to serve you the first time, you will do so again in about eight days from now. "Completing and commissioning this project also fulfils our promise to continue diligently, serving the good people of Oyo State to the last day of our first tenure. As you can see, campaign is still ongoing, but we have not stopped governance."

Governor Wike, who was the special guest of honour at the event, commended Governor Makinde for delivering massive projects in the state, urging the people of the state to cast their votes for the governor for a second term so that he could continue his good works in the state.

Wike said: "Today, I am happy to see history being made in Oyo State. It gives me pleasure to know that an aircraft will take fuel from this Airport. Before now, when aircraft land here, they go back and refuel, but now, no going back; you land and take fuel here. May God continue to bless His Excellency for his people.
“He wants the economy of his people to improve. Look at the Airport, the VIP Lounge and the road named after our elder statesman, which are supposed to be the responsibilities of the Federal Government.
