YouTube drops 1000 subscribers monetisation requirement to just 500 subscribers

Before the changes, a YouTube creator needed at least 1,000 subscribers to apply to join YouTube Partner Program (YPP), but now you only need 500.

You also need to have done three public uploads in the last 90 days, and clocked up either 3,000 watch hours in the past 12 months or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Before, you needed either 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Joining YPP under via the lower bar will give new creators access to various fan-funding features such as channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Thanks, and more.

This new requirement won’t kick in for all users globally, but rather only in the US, U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea and later the rest of the world.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan is urging national and community leaders to discourage the smuggling of arms into the Protection of Civilians site in Malakal. Following the eruption of deadly inter-communal violence at the site last Thursday, the UN Mission said in a statement that it has been taking steps to prevent the infiltration of arms into the PoC site, and is working with the Government and various leaders, to explore additional measures, to ensure the security and well-being of the affected communities.

Balaam went ahead to condemn the acts of Abitex by claiming his own chairman of the Promoters Association couldn't stage a concert on the same day with him .

P-Square

The twins Peter and Paul Okoye were born on 18 November, 1981 in Anambra State, Nigeria. Their parents are late Mrs Josephine Okoye and late Pa Moses Okoye. The twins' siblings are Jude, Mary, Tony, Lilian and Ifeanyi Okoye.

They later formed an a ca****la quartet called "MMMPP" (M Clef a.k.a. Itemoh, Michael, Melvin, Peter and Paul). Drawing inspiration from their music idol Michael Jackson, they began break dancing, formed the group called "Smooth Criminals" in 1997. They dropped M Clef from the group "MMMPP" which later was changed to "MMPP". Their artistic talent and precise dance routine soon made them household names in the city of Jos, where they performed at school functions and other occasions.

Later in 1999, Peter and Paul returned to music school to develop their skills on the keyboard, drums, bass and rhythm guitar. Their work includes the soundtracks for a number of films like Tobi, Mama Sunday, Moment of Bitterness and Evas River.

Later in 1999, they applied to the University of Abuja to study Business administration. The Smooth Criminals disbanded when its members left to various other universities. Subsequently, Peter and Paul formed their own group, variously called "Double P", "P&P", and "Da Pees", until they eventually settled on "P Square". They were managed by Bayo Odusami aka Howie T, a seasoned concert promoter and the CEO of Adrot Nigeria Limited.

In 2001, "P-Square" won the "Grab Da Mic" competition, and hence Benson & Hedges sponsored their debut album, titled Last Nite, which was released under Timbuk2 music label. P-Square was also nominated as "Most Promising African Group" in the Kora Awards three months after the release of their debut album. They eventually won the 2003 Amen Award for "Best R&B Group".

In 2005, they released their second album, Get Squared under their own label, Square Records. This album was marketed nationwide by TJoe Enterprises, although they were still managed by Howie T of Adrot Nigeria Limited. The video for the second album held the No. 1 position on the MTV Base chart for four straight weeks.

The group performed with artists like Ginuwine, Sean Paul and Akon.

Late in 2007, they released their best selling album so far, Game Over, which sold 8 million copies worldwide.

In 2009, P-Square released their fourth studio album, Danger. The album features collaborations with 2 Face Idibia, J Martins and Frenzy. The first single called "Danger" is a hip hop song with cutting synths and a frog bass baseline similar to an Eminem song. The video affirms this with the presence of clowns and staggered movements in front of the camera reminiscent of comical videos by Eminem. They are also known for the close resemblance which the twins have to American R&B singer, Usher Raymond.

On 4 April 2010, P-Square were named the Artist of the Year at the Kora Awards in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso while they were in London for a concert at the Troxy, and they will receive a sum of $1 Million Dollars as the award winners, in Ebebiyin City.

On 29 August 2014, P-Square released a single track featuring a top American Artist T.I. which P-Square titled Ejeajo produced and co-written by VTEK,[9] EjeAjo official video featuring T.I was also released 29 August 2014 on both TV stations, Radio Stations and Web blogs. On 14 September 2014 P-Square released their 6th studio album titled Double Trouble . On 8 October 2015 P-Square were given Range Rover SUVs from Globacom as Glo Ambassadors for their sponsorship of the TV Radio entertainment programme. The programme brings dancers from around the world to showcase their talents for prizes.

On 24 February 2016 News of how Globacom decided not to renew its Ambassadorship deal with the duo, albeit renewing the contract with other Ambassadors hit the news. This was as a result of a fallout between the company's representatives and Peter, one half of the P-Square twins during the grand finale of the Dance with Peter talent hunt show.

OPINION: The reality of illegal detention of Wau's KCB staffs, take them to court or release them

The ongoing detention without trial of Kenyan Commercial Bank staff who were arrested in Wau, South Sudan, and subsequently transferred to Juba, is a severe violation of their fundamental human rights. For over a year now, these individuals have been incarcerated without any explanation or investigation into their alleged crimes, and their families have endured immense suffering.

The transfer of these individuals from Wau to Juba, without clear explanation or justification, raises further concerns about the circumstances surrounding their arrest and detention. It is crucial that the South Sudanese government upholds its obligation to ensure that justice is served in accordance with due process, and that the human rights of all individuals are respected, regardless of their nationality or profession.

We call on the South Sudanese government to immediately release these Kenyan Commercial Bank staff or bring them to court and provide them with a fair and transparent trial that is consistent with international human rights standards. The government must ensure that the charges against them are clearly outlined, substantiated with evidence, and that the detained individuals have access to legal representation.

Moreover, we urge the South Sudanese government to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the detention of these individuals, including their transfer to Juba, and hold those responsible for any unlawful actions accountable.

It is crucial that the South Sudanese government takes immediate action to demonstrate its commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting human rights, and ensuring that justice is served. The continued detention without trial of Kenyan Commercial Bank staff is a severe violation of their fundamental human rights, and we call on the government to act urgently to address this situation and ensure that justice is served in accordance with international human rights standards.

Popular Nigerian artiste, David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has revealed that he once ran away from his father’s $60 million family home in Lagos state, to live in his friend’s studio.

He made the revelation during an interview with Real 92.3 FM, Atlanta while dismissing the belief that because of his wealthy background he didn’t struggle to become a star.

According to Davido, a lot of people make assumptions about him because they don’t really know his past, and having a rich dad was one of the hinderances in his music career.

He said that he had to release a couple of songs before finally started to attempt that he was a good musician.

Speaking further, OBO admitted that there was never a time he was struggling to feed like those artistes who came from poor backgrounds.

Davido said; “People don’t really know about my past like the early part of my career. What was difficult for me was coming from a very wealthy background. Everybody just felt like, ‘Nah, his dad…This is money’. I dropped several records before they had to agree like, ‘Okay, he is actually good.’

“You know people love the grass to grace story. Everybody love the story of ‘I was down bad, now I’m up.’ I had never been really down bad. But I was passionate . We had a $60million-house in Nigeria that I ran away from; I was sleeping in my friend’s studio, hot. They were look at me crazy like ‘Bro, you better go home.’ I said, ‘I’m not going home.”

The ‘FEM’ crooner added that refused to go back home because he his family would have locked him up in oder to stop him from doing music.
