Manchester United today Ended Arsenal's Unbeaten streek after a 3-1 defeat to the Emirates at the old Trafford. Manchester's New Signee scored the first goal in the match and his first goal in the Premier League.
However Manchester United is now 5th on the Premier League table, while Arsenal is 1st with only a point ahead of Manchester City.

Other Premier League game today was Brighton and Leicester City. The Bright side left Leicester City in the dark after a 5-2 defeat.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has appointed a 7-men Rapid Response Committee to tackle and discipline media publications, opinions and interviews which are rebellious to its members' interests.

Prof. Ade Adejumo from LAUTECH was appointed as Convener (Chief Disciplinarian), as approved by ASUU president, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke.

: CORRUPTION IS THE REASON FOR ASUU STRIKE - MR PETER OBI.

The Presidential Aspirant of labour Party Mr. Peter Obi has spoken out concerning the industrial action embarked on by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, that was just moved to indefinite. The Aspirant said that the Nigerian corruption level in Nigeria is so high and that is the reason for the long industrial Action by the union.

According to Mr Peter Obi on his Twitter handle yesterday on Twitter, he said the staggering level of corruption in Nigeria is the reason the university is currently on strike. He said the country had been characterized by ethnic and religious practices which has made the country leaders insensitive to the main issues of the country. He also lamented on the poor medical system of the country.

NEWS: A Nigerian soldier who shot and killed an Islamic cleric in Yobe state has recounted how he carried out the heinous crime.

The cleric, identified as Sheikh Goni Aisami, gave the soldier named John Gabriel a ride at Nguru Army Barrack on Friday, August 19, after he said he was heading to Jaji-Maji in Yobe state.

However, the soldier shot the cleric along the way and attempted to steal his Honda 2006 model but the vehicle would not move and he was eventually caught by some vigilantes.

The President of the union Professor Osodeke, today told Nigerians asking Asuu to take another alternative and end the strike. The union president replied saying Strike has always been the last alternative for Asuu.

He said that the government should use the money that was gotten from Abacha's loot to settle the union.

The President also clarified that Universities are not on strike but the union is, he said any school can open, but Lecturers won't attend any class or teach any Student.

Bandits allegedly planning to marry off kidnapped 300-level KASU student to commander
One of the kidnapped victims of the Kaduna train attack, Azurfa Lois John is reportedly set to be married off to a commander in the terrorists camp who is said to be in love with her.

21-year-old Azurfa, a 300-level student of the Kaduna State University was among hundreds of other passengers who were kidnapped by the terrorists back in March 2022.

While most of the victims have regained freedom, the student and a few other persons are still in captivity and it has now been revealed that one of the top commanders of the gunmen is in love with her, and she may be married off any moment from now which may ultimately make her release impossible.

This was revealed by a member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu who also doubles as the media consultant of sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

Mamu called on the federal government, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and other relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts to secure the release of the student before it is too late.
