Yesterday, I chatted with a friend about a recent online business of his. He started this business, but couldn't continue for various reasons, including failure in a recent attempt. He shared this story with me:
A while ago, he was contracted to sell an imported mirror via Facebook. Using limited paid advertisement, he managed to be contacted by over 20 potential customers. He was a bit knowledgeable with his product and courteous with the prospects. But unfortunately for him, he couldn't get any of them to agree on the price of the mirror.
However, I want to focus on one person. My friend chatted with this woman and made significant progress. Yet just near the end of the deal, she called it off. Her particular words were "This is only suited for someone like her housemaiden. And even she would doubt to buy this mirror."
He couldn't think of anything to say in this sudden shift, other than "Very well, ma'am, please let me know if your housemaiden would be interested in buying this, then."
What I assumed to have happened was, someone she trusted told her that this was a sham, and she fully believed it. That or it's just a petty prank from someone who's got all the time in her life.
Considering such, his reply wasn't particularly great, but I give him props for keeping his calm.
So, I understand that being a novice in this field means that he could've still continued in this field until his growing experience and authority would garner him better results.
But for now, what I want to know is if there was a way he could've handled this particular deal better?
