Skyleader 400 has arrived in the UK and it’s first flight last week to Manchester Barton from North Weald, Essex didn’t disappoint ✈️
Side-by-side two-seat low-wing
monoplane with conventional three-axis
control. Wings have swept leading and
trailing edges. The tail is conventional. Pitch
control by elevator on tail; yaw control by
fin-mounted rudder; roll control by ailerons.
Undercarriage has three wheels
in nosewheel formation; Trailing
arm suspension on mainwheels.
Nosewheel steering connected
to aerodynamic controls.
Hydraulic disc brakes on
mainwheels. Totally monocoque
airframe built entirely from structural
aluminium and steel, all corrosion
proofed prior to assembly. Ballistic
recovery chute mounted rear of engine as
standard equipment. Engine mounted at
wing height, driving tractor propeller.

Which one would you pick?

✈️ The Skyleader 400 is designed for recreational flying and pilot training. It is distinguished by it’s racy sports car-inspired looks and unique gull-wing canopy. It features a spacious interior with plenty of space for pilots and baggage, and a 120 Litre fuel tank that gives the 400 a range of around 500 miles depending on engine selections and options.

✈️ The Skyleader 600 is an all metal two-seat, low wing constructed aircraft with a trapezoidal wing. The aircraft has either a tricycle towed fixed landing gear with wheel pants and a steerable nose wheel, or a retractable gear. The aircraft is designated mainly for recreational flying, pilot training and special operations.

Ashok Aliseril, director of Inditu Air Services Ltd. trading as Skyleader UK, based at North Weald Airfield (EGSX) in Essex is the sole distributor for Skyleader Aircraft in the United Kingdom & Ireland. Both the Skyleader 600 and 400 are approved by the CAA in the 600kg Light Sport Microlight category.

5 facts about building (assembling) your own aircraft ✈️ Swipe ➡️ for photos of the build.

1. To qualify as a home built 🛩️, the builder has to do at least 51% of the tasks involved in building the 🛩️

2. Depending on the type of 🛩️ it can take anything from 500 to 5000 man hours.

3. Building from a kit will be a lot easier and quicker than building from plans where you fabricate the various parts needed.

4. When deciding which 🛩️ to build, make sure the 🛩️fulfills your mission when built, as it may take a few years and your mission might change.

5. The more changes you make to the original 🛩️ plans or the kit, the longer it will take and you might introduce new failure risks.

Due to lockdown the monthly inspection was delayed to 6-8 weeks, which also meant that Ashok did 90% of the work himself. Once the inspection was complete it was assembled at an hangar and the engine was installed by the Sling Aircraft engineer.

The build took 18 months and 1800 hours of work to make it airworthy. Plus 30 hours of test flying by the test pilots before it can take any passengers.

Aircraft is named after our youngest daughter Diya and there is already a plane registered as Tara, which isn’t ours.

Total cost excluding labour £180k, this is precovid cost. Shipping and price of kit has gone up significantly since then.

Flying trip from England to Norway back in June this year.

✈️ Day 1 was North Weald, EGSX to Calais for customs and off to Soest, EDLZ in Germany. A quiet German town where one of the pilots is based.

✈️ Day 2 was from Soest EDLZ to Itzehoe, EDHF for a BBQ organised by a resident pilot and friend. Long run way, very relaxed airfield with plenty of Hangarage and loads of aircraft.

Day 2 after lunch and giving the planes a bit of a clean set off to Hoganas, Sweden ESMH overflying Denmark. Filled a SkyDemon flight plan and flew high at around 6.5k ft all the way. ATC was great throughout and no issues with any requests for zone transits, altitude changes for some better views etc...

Day 2 Hoganas ESMH is rated the best GA airfield in Sweden and we found out why. Great welcome and facilities. Our base for the night was the nearby town of Helsingborg. The Scandic hotel was great with nice food, bar and the Champions League final on telly to wind down after a long day of flying.

✈️ Day 3 We were early to get to the airfield for the slightly longer leg of the journey to Kjeller ENKJ, Norway. Norway needed 4 hrs notice for customs clearance for any leisure flights from EU countries. So we had to wait a bit before setting off. The flight itself was a pretty one following the Swedish coast with good weather and helpful ATC allowing the whole flight at FL065.

Day 3 We tied down the aircraft at Kjeller ENKJ and found accommodation in the centre of Oslo about 20 mins away by car. Had a walk around the city centre and the impressive Opera house after dinner with plenty of daylight still available at 10 pm local time.

When you miss flying in the Winter.
When it’s dark, windy and raining all the time. You look back at what makes flying so special ✈️

Some photo’s from the trip to Europe back in June 2022.
I was accompanied by 9 pilot’s and 5 aircrafts in total.

3 aircraft’s took off from Stow Marries aerodrome in Chelmsford, Essex and others joined in Germany.

📍Calais to Saarlouis
Saarlouis to Rothenburg O.B.T
Rothenburg to Zell Am See

560Nm distance and took 4.5hrs of flying.
Breathtaking views of the mountains 🏔 and ski resorts.

Some photo’s from the trip to Zell Am See, Austria back in June 2022 .
I was accompanied by 9 pilot’s plus 2 student pilot’s and 6 aircrafts in total.

3 aircraft’s took off from Stow Marries aerodrome in Chelmsford, Essex. Stopped at Calais, France to get our passports stamped!
Others joined in Rottenburg, Germany for the flight to Zell Am See, Austria.
Breathtaking views of the mountains 🏔 and ski resorts.


Plan is to do this trip again with the girl’s when they are a bit older and we should be able to fly to Austria in 3 hours and 30 mins ✈️✈️

Hoping the weather to improve here in England so we can make most of the last few weeks of 2022.
