The 2020 Fallas which is taking place during the month of September 2021, has already proven to be quite the conversation starter, notably surrounding two, of many, pieces that have caught the attention of the public, local as much as touristic. One of them being the very large effigy of a show that almost everyone has been talking about since its debut back in 2017, La Casa de Papel. The popular sculpture is designed by the local artist Alejandro Santaeulalia SerrĂĄn and with the approval and support of Netflix themselves, the 8-personned Falla, commissioned by the CĂĄdiz-Cura DemenĂa de Russafa can be found in Calle Cadiz.

The cool bauhaus vibes of the concrete-walled interior, the shelves stacked with the best produce and products from back home, the menu that proudly boasts a full spectrum of authentic Italian cuisine, from the antipasto like the Vitello Tonnato, Tri Burrate & Tartuffi le patate to the fresh, and/or, dry pasta dishes, pizzas aplenty and of course, the dessert, is fast masking a name for itself amongst the hippest Italian places in town. Whether you’re looking for something smart but low-key; cool without being pretentious; brilliant value despite its impressive quality, or simply a place that offers a hearty, filling and delicious lunch menu at a reasonable price, this place ticks all the boxes.

As can be seen in the pictures, from their Lunch Menu: Piadina, spinach Canelloni, chef’s pasta special and provolone. Veramente Buono.

There’s more to this place than just the amazing dumplings, their range of traditional Pad Thai are the closest thing to the real deal that you’ll find in Valencia. As this place is an Asian fusion, they offer dishes from Thailand and Japan and Chinese. The meticulous preparation of each dish, the open kitchen, the decor that brings you back to what feels like a 1930’s American-influenced Saigon all add up to give you a great experience of Asian Cuisine and feel. Top marks go to who have been in Ruzafa since 2014.
Tip, ask for their spicy sauce, it will add an amazing kick to whichever dish you opt for.

🍕The “Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana AVPN” is an Italian organization which promotes and protects, in Italy and Worldwide, the true neapolitan pizza. From the type of oven, to the materials used to make it, the products chosen for the pizza, to the making of the pizza itself is maintained at a high standard. What does this mean? Basically, if the restaurant you go to is a member of this Association, then it will be the best pizza you’ll have outside of Italy. And there’s only one in Valencia! (15 in the whole of Spain, 5 of them being in Madrid, 4 in Barcelona, and the rest around and about).

At .valencia Not only does the pizza taste amazing, but the venue itself feels like you’ve walked into a small pizza place in Italy. The tables and chairs are reminiscent of what one’s idea of an authentic Italian place looks and feels like, and that’s because it is.

If you want a true Italian experience, try the best bufala you’ll have in a while, a pizza you won’t forget, and that you’ll want to eat over and over, then iDon will become your new go-to-place. It’s so good, even your italian friends will have to nod their heads and agree.

It’s the small shops that add the most character to a city, and .ind proves that point perfectly. This little shop is a great pit-stop for anyone looking for brands like Levi’s, Burberry or Nike, or the unbranded pieces that scream originality.

What makes this place different from the rest? The visionary and owner behind Blossom has a hands-on approach to vintage clothing, while selling some of the coolest curated pieces from the past, he also creates his own, by customising pieces and making one-of-a-kind garments that you won’t find anywhere else.
A great shop with a lot of personality if ever you’re searching for a great find.
Check out their instagram page for for some outfit inspirations.

La Catrina is the alternative rock and heavy metal bar of Ruzafa. Music covers each wall and even table of this rocking bar, with throwbacks to past festivals and concerts, to vinyl covers of the legends of heavy metal, from Black Sabbath all the way to Queens of The Stone Age. The decoration is creatives, colourful and straight-up Rock! Although one might associate the vibes of such a place with a dive bar, serving only bottle beer and nothing else (a cocktail would feel out of place), is actually a master in innovative and imaginative cocktails, presented and served at the level you would expect at a fancy-shmancy “mixology” bar. This place not only has a great selection of drinks, but a pool table, and a foosball! So, let’s summarize: Rock Music, check. B*tching decoration, check. Beers and cocktails? double-check. Snooker & Foosball for hours of fun? Yep! If you don’t know this bar yet, Friday will be the perfect pretext and occasion. L’Apéritif Round 2 will be taking place there from 6.30pm. Limited capacity! So make sure to come on time.

One of our favourite things to see in is longevity. Of course we want to see new places pop-up all over town, with new concepts, fresh takes, cool spaces… But for business to last, be it a restaurant, a bar, a shop, or in this case, a small, quirky and quite unique little treasure trove of books and art memorabilia. first opened its doors to the public 8 years ago, and like in dog years, that’s like… a lot of years. It has survived a crisis, a pandemic, and the digital invasion (cough cough, looking at you Amazon, you suck). Here you can find books in all languages, from cinema studies to fiction and non, t-shirts galore, stickers to cover your computer or door… a special place that we hope to see more many more years to come.

re-imagines the concept and experience of eating out, with delicious and varied vegan dishes, and a PWYW pricing strategy. 📚A can shatter your heart in a more real way than any relationship can, it can transport you to places better than any mode of transport can, it can make you laugh harder than any friend or comedian can, make you see the world without even leaving the confines of your room. A book will capture and solidify a moment in time better than any camera or photograph. A book is more than a mere companion or past-time, it is something magical, it can lift you up when you’re down, fill you with love when you’re lonely, scare you, intrigue you, confuse you, give your answers and complete you. We have decided to suss out and highlight all of the best bookshops in and its outskirts, for the bookworms that seek literature of all kinds.

🎵🎧I think we can all agree at this point that vinyl isn’t dead, and that nothing can compare to the unique experience that is Analogue. You can praise the higher sonic quality of digital all you like, but holding a record, reading the back of it, as you listen to the whole album on a record player, and completely losing yourself in the moment… that’s incomparable. Too few are the vinyl shops left where you can listen to an album before buying it though, and that’s one of the things that makes , in Ruzafa, such a gem for music lovers. On top of that, they organise the odd live DJ set in the afternoons. We’ll make sure to share the next dates when we hear about them.

🛍️If you’re looking for a gift shop with a sense of humour, an eye for design, a love of colour, and last but not least, accessories with profanity on them (which we are big fans of), then you must have heard of .eu . Although this shop has been around for over a decade now, the feeling you get when you visit is ever-changing, fresh and always staying up-to-date and relevant with the world of design and curated goods. A shop with a lot of personality and quirkiness. 😊
