One Kind Word Podcast

Helping loved ones grow: As part of my daily routine, I write, record, and post episodes for my podcast. My intention is to promote kindness as an essential way to relate with others and make the world a better place for you and future generations. While some episodes may be better than others, I wanted to share today’s post with you > “Treat a man as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be and he will become as he can and should be.” Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We believe if we care about someone and want to help them improve, we should bring their weaknesses, shortcomings, and failures to their attention. This assumption, however, has three noteworthy flaws: 1) The person most likely already knows at some level. 2) What we focus on, we become. If we focus on the negative, we are cultivating the unfavorable aspects of a person. 3) Pointing out a person’s flaws can damage your relationship with them - their tether to humanity. One Kind Word reduces criticisms, judgments, and intolerance and delivers more praise, genuine interest, and appreciation for others.

Honestly, I am feeling very sad about my friend, Michael Stackhouse's passing, and it's making me wonder why this loss is affecting me more than others. I suspect this has to do with changes in me rather than the value of others. I hope it means I have become more sensitive, open, vulnerable, and less self-centered and guarded. And I realize I still have a long way to go in all these areas. One question leads to another, and I find myself asking: how do I stay positive and cheerful with a broken heart? The answer lies in staying present, in noticing the kindness of others and the many gifts that life brings. But it's not enough to notice these things; I must also be grateful for them. And more importantly, I must engage in the moments I have left. So when I wake up, I choose to be positive. I make my bed my first achievement of the day, stretch and reflect on how I can serve the world today. Then, I roll up my sleeves and get to work. I hope that my thoughts may help someone else's day, and I apologize if my ramblings offend.

Since the Age of Reason, we have developed a bias towards approaching life as if it were a problem to be solved. While the human intellect is undoubtedly an impressive tool, it is not the only one at our disposal. Other tools, such as imagination, intuition, insight, inspiration, and acceptance, are equally valuable. With our imagination, we can conceive of the impossible and the improbable. Intuition and insight provide access to information from within and beyond what the intellect can comprehend. Inspiration utilizes intuition and insight to take action in the world. However, acceptance is the most profound wisdom of all. One Kind Word accepts that most of the universe surpasses our understanding and remains shrouded in exquisite mystery.
