“I can’t breathe.”
These were notably the last few words of George Flyod , a 46 year old black man who died on 25th May, when the Minneapolis Police officer kneeled on his neck
for about 8 minutes , though he physically resisted.
There has been a huge number of protest that erupted in America ever since.
This video is my little take, as I experienced the outrage on ground in reality standing among those people.
On 7th June , We Reston Strong team decided to conduct a
peace protest in Reston, Virginia to show respect and solidarity for Floyd.
To my surprise , more than thousand people showed up for the peace protest ,even during a pandemic. From infants to adults with their pets to old aged people everyone sprung out of their houses in solidarity for Floyd .
The rally had a radically diverse people from all ethnicities holding sign boards standing across the street , peacefully making a point. The passerby in vehicles honked to show their support and respect for Floyd.
As a videographer , I saw the anger in people standing peaceful but with teary eyes, like they were mourning for their someone own, they want for change , they want to live peacefully and to change the system for everyone.
Many who joined the protest were first time protesters who said that George Floyd death made them feel that they simply couldn’t stay at home. People have started questioning their safety, the call for change is so much urgent now.
" It was the last straw "
Everyone wanted justice, For Floyd and for an all the black
community who have been facing the wreath since years now. It has to stop now . We live in a world of different races with different skinned people and being black shouldn’t be the reason to hate someone.
“We are all human and we are all one.”
