Blind Faith Books Do you have blind faith? We want stories that demand to be told. Blind Faith is when you pour everything you have into your story, no doubt of its merit.

Are you sick of bombastic publishers whose submission instructions require you to put extra time and energy into making sure your manuscript is formatted exactly right, just so they can throw it out without reading a word of your story because the page number in your header was in Calibri instead of Times New Roman? So are we. Do you roll your eyes when you try to submit a story somewhere and thei

r website pretentiously declares “don’t even bother sending something about vampires or aliens,” and you imagine the publishers laughing at you as you read it? So do we. Are you tired of waiting months for snobby rejection e-mails saying “this didn’t quite do it for me, I’m afraid.”

So are we. Are you tired of being told by “experts” that you must change everything about your story in order for it to sell, and all the contradictory advice from writers, agents, editors, and publishers? As many of you might agree, the publishing industry just isn’t what it used to be anymore. Day by day, traditional publishers seem to strip away more and more services from aspiring and established authors. Be it cash advances, marketing, editing services, or design, traditional publishers seem dead set on acquiring the best stories to sell while putting in the least time, effort, and money to sell them. Basically, they want to have their cake and eat it too. We can’t let them. Do you have a story that demands to be told? Do you believe in your story above all else? With a little bit of Blind Faith, your story can exist among the pantheon of stories out there in the literary world. We can help. See our editing and design services. Talk to one of our experienced editors to make your story the best it can be. Live the dream of being a published author. All with just a tiny dose of Blind Faith.

I Am Strength contributor, Amber Hyder, has a leadership project, GNA Success Stories, where she highlights successful and inspiring alums from her home town. If interested, please give GNA Success Stories a follow for these positive and uplifting stories.

“I don't see being successful as a one-time destination, but rather a journey. To me, I believe I've achieved success because I continually strive to be the best version of myself. From my time as a GNA student until now, I have grown both personally and professionally, despite facing the inevitable setbacks.

Along this journey, I have been afforded many great opportunities. In addition to working for America250PA, the Pennsylvania Department of State, Pennsylvania Governor's Office, and Pennsylvania House of Representatives, I have been able to meet some pretty influential people, like Governor Tom Wolf, President Biden, and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Growing up, I didn't see myself represented in the media, or even in our community. Thankfully, in recent years, we have seen more diversity in NEPA. Through my story, I want other young people to see themselves in me and inspire them to believe they could achieve anything they put their minds to.

After graduating from King's College in 2019, I planned to seek employment in Harrisburg. However, I just so happened to see a Facebook post from Ms. Muench, regarding the College and Career Adviser position at GNA. I decided to accept the position because I thought about how impactful it would've been to have someone helping me navigate life after high school, and I wanted to give back to the community that helped shape me.

Additionally, I created the "Justin J. Victor Legacy Award," which is in memory of my dad. It is given to a Greater Nanticoke Area senior who has exemplified perseverance and strength, despite personal challenges. The recipient also demonstrates kindness and generosity in an effort to improve the lives of those within his/her community.

Now, as the Director of Partnership and Engagement, I foster strong relations with stakeholders, from across Pennsylvania, as we prepare for the Semiquincentennial in 2026! I would also love to run for political office in the future to create meaningful and positive change.”

Jaclyn Victor, 2015
Director of Partnerships and Engagement for America250PA
Deputy Director of Scheduling for Josh Shapiro

It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to our sister in strength, Sharon Mitchell, who passed peacefully in her sleep last night. Her poem, “The Baggage of Mortality,” is more poignant today than ever. Sharon will be remembered as a talented and moving writer and a wonderful person. I am so happy to have known her, and so sad it couldn’t have been longer. Our prayers, positive energy, and compassionate thoughts are with her family.

Congrats, Elise Emersyn on being a featured author at Grateful Roast Cafe and Coffee Roaster! If you’re local in the Nanticoke area, head over for some coffee and a copy of her book, Drowning Back to Life, for only $10!

And the best part: $5 from each purchase will benefit Ruth’s Place, the only emergency shelter for homeless women in Luzerne County. A program of Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, Ruth's Place has provided emergency shelter and services for over 4,000 homeless women since its beginning in 2003. contributors Alyssa Waugh, Kabria Rogers, Dawn Zera, and Tara Lynn Marta will be presenting at the 2019 Women’s Conference hosted by King’s College and Wilkes University Monday, April 8 at 9:30am discussing “New Narratives of Gender in the Media.”

The theme asks participants to consider how gender has influenced, changed in, and been changed by various media platforms. The public sphere increasingly intersects with private lives, and the consequences for s*x and gender have been numerous. This conference seeks to examine the impacts of these intersections and their significance for women and gender in our societies.

Thank you for joining us in the new conversation on women. See you there!
