Cross-selling and upselling - have both.
In order to have a complete strategy, brands need to have methods of both cross-selling and upselling.

Hubspot has a great analogy to help explain this. If you’re a burger joint, your upselling opportunity would be enhancing and upgrading your burger with bacon, extra toppings, special bun, etc, for an additional fee. 👀 Chipotle and their gauc anyone?
You’re not selling them something else, but enhancing the existing product. This is upselling. The issue with upselling is that not everyone needs the enhanced/advanced/or premium version of what you’re offering.

Cross-selling, on the other hand, opens new opportunities for everyone. Cross-selling for your burger would be adding on french fries and a drink for a more complete meal, building around your existing product.
There’s an important distinction between cross-selling and simply adding on another offering. Cross-selling works in conjunction with a single product/service, broadening and improving that specific offering or experience. Be mindful that you’re effectively cross-selling and not simply adding in additional products, as not everyone needs additional products or services, but everyone can benefit from an improved offer/experience.

🛑 Stop the drop!
It doesn’t matter if you’re an international corporation with 1000s of offices or an independent business owner working out of a garage, there’s a place in your business where people drop-off. You can be the most successful business owner, make millions of dollars, and you will ALWAYS have a drop-off point - heck, maybe even several drop-off points.

A drop-off point is simply a single point throughout the consumer journey where consumers drop-off - aka walk away, don’t complete their purchase, don’t click through, don’t book a consult call, etc, etc. This is completely normal and expected from consumers.

This drives business owners CRAZY. Have you ever felt like you’re missing “that one thing” or if you could just figure out “something,” you would be more successful? It’s probably because you’re trying to solve for this drop-off point, without truly realizing what it is and how it works.

Apart from the mental turmoil, this drop-off point also results in a lot of lost revenue. 😭
If this is normal and expected from consumers, this is just a reality to accept then, right?

Well, NO! You’ll always have to address these points throughout your business. You’ll most likely have more than one drop-off point and they’ll most likely change over time, even if your business and offerings stay the same. This doesn’t mean that it needs to cause turmoil or even result in lost revenue. ✨1) What are your main business goals? Additionally: What are you trying to achieve overall? What are you trying to achieve with social media? What are you currently doing to achieve these goals? Is it working?

✨3) What additional tools and processes need to be setup and budgeted for in order to make your social media marketing run smoothly, generate sales, connect to other workflows, look good, have purpose, so on and so forth?

"It creates this perception that a successful product or service sells itself."⠀

Have you ever changed your offer, service, or price because what you were doing wasn't working and you thought that by changing X, you'd appeal to more people? ⠀

Don't worry, we've all been there. When you change and try all the things to increase sales, you're changing how your marketing and sales strategy is oriented. This means that your previously aligned branding, marketing strategy, and product/service, are now unaligned.⠀

Not to mention, when you discount things to try to appeal to more people, you're not valuing yourself, your service, or your product as you intended it to be.⠀

Changing all the things won't help you sell. If you're not selling you either need to change your mindset around selling, create a proper marketing strategy, change your current marketing strategy, and/or implement marketing aligned with your business.⠀

Analytically and statistically, nothing.

HOWEVER, what content would you interact with if only your opinion mattered? If you were no longer influenced by others? If your mind had the freedom to create and consume by what it likes - not what the media says it should like.

Why does it matter how many people liked the post in the first place? Or how many people saw the video? Unless you’re analyzing your own content from a management perspective, the numbers don’t matter. Even then, you should be enjoying yourself while creating, posting, and interacting.

So, while hiding likes and views “technically” doesn’t benefit you, it may change how you use social media and view the world.

What's your daily plan look like and how is helping you achieve your goal? If you want to grow your brand, how is what you're doing today helping you grow? Are you talking to existing people or truly gaining new reach? If your goal is to get more sales and make that cash, is what you're doing contributing to that? If you know who you want to target, understand who you want your audience to be, nailed down your brand values, but aren't reaching your business goals, then you don't have a strategy...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
