In today's video, I tested my freedom to record along the public sidewalk outside this Dutch Bros. coffee location. With this chain of coffee shops popping up throughout Southern California, The length of the drive thru line rivals some of the Starbucks locations I've recorded outside of. I had one point of contact from a woman in the drive thru lane asking why I was recording & asked If I was affiliated with the company. I wasn't in the mood to really engage as I was busy recording, so I asked if she was affiliated with Dutch Bros. She seemed to take offense with my asking her & when she approached the pick up window, she got the attention of the employee inside. A few minutes later another employee approached & informed me that my recording was apparently making some of the customers uncomfortable. I pointed out the cameras mounted to the business & suggested that their cameras might be making the customers equally uncomfortable. He returned inside without further incident. Feel free to chime in below in the comment section with your thoughts on today's video & would also love to hear your opinions on if you prefer Dutch Bros. over Starbucks.
Thanks for watching!

In today's installment, we did some public documenting along the public sidewalk throughout the shopping & dining district & we checked out this quaint dining establishment. I was impressed with the vibe with the overgrown trees & fountain in the middle of the patio. Shortly after we began recording , customers & employees took notice of our presence. A woman came out who identified herself as the owner asked what the filming was for, she asked nicely if we could turn off our cameras, however I did decline to submit to her request, as I stated We were just making a video of the restaurant & the area. Another individual came out with his camera & got within close proximity to my documenting partner & began criticizing my partner for wearing a face mask, calling him a coward for wearing one. We did hear a brief threat of calling police so we stayed in the vicinity to continue recording if & when they would arrive , but that never happened so we continued on with our business down the sidewalk.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this video , so please feel free to comment below & I thank you for tuning in to the channel to watch!

In today's installment, or should I say this evening's installment, we tested our freedom to record in public along the sidewalk outside this Trader Joe's market. It was rather busy from the traffic flow going in & out of the parking lot while we were here. We had a few points of contact from various individuals as well. The first one came from one who just parked behind us along the curb, got out of his car & began recording with his phone behind us. He asked why we were recording & said to the extent that it was odd. I mentioned to him that it wasn't so odd since he was recording as well. I asked why he was recording & he replied because we were . So I aske if it was the, you started it mentality & then I asked if he was a sheep who does something merely because another person does it first? police arrived on scene, just briefly stopping to ask if we were recording. We let him know that we weren't going to answer questions & he was cool with that & drove away. The next mail point of contact came at the entrance of the parking lot as I was standing to the side recording my partner chatting with some folks opposite side of the driveway , when an individual walked up behind me with his camera within a rather close proximity to me wanting to know why we were recording. He then proceeded to call us A$$****s for doing what we were doing. He they mentioned we were in his neighborhood & I told him it was actually a public sidewalk , along a public street in front of a grocery store. It didn't look quite like a neighborhood to me. I then called him a nosybody & he took offense to that claiming he wasn't a nosybody. I then reminded him that he indeed was since he approached wanting to know my business recording. He eventually walked away with his sack of groceries in hand into the darkness without further incident.

In todays video, I did my public documenting on the public sidewalk outside this Starbucks drive thru. The line got busy at times throughout the time frame I was here. The employees never made direct contact with me which was a nice change from other locations when the employee comes out to tell me I can't record from where I'm standing. The main point of contact came from a customer, who apparently overheard me calling out her license plate # , so she pulled into the parking lot next door , got out of her car to question me as to why I was doing that . she returned to her car & got on the phone. Did she call the police? Not sure , I did however see police do a drive by a short time later & did not make any contact as they did a drive by of the area.

In today's installment, I tested my first amendment freedom to record with my cameras along the public sidewalk outside this church. I had a few points of contact from various people of this congregation. The first individual came out who was cordial & curious. Thankfully he left it at that & returned inside. The next encounter came from two individuals who just parked & walked over towards where I was standing. I was asked why I want to record & I returned a similar question asking why they want to attend church. He replied because he loves Jesus & I told him I love to record with my cameras. They eventually made their way inside. The 3rd encounter came from a woman who went immediately into accusing me of recording children walking in to the church & telling me that parent don't give their permission for me to record their kids. I explained to her that I have every right be be doing what I was doing & that she was making something out of nothing since I hadn't seen any children in the area since I began my recordings. She told me that if I continued recording, they would call the police , so I told her that if the police do their job correctly they would explain as i did that there was no crime with documenting from where I was standing. I continued my recording for an additional 20 minutes or so after se returned inside to give law enforcement ample time to arrive on scene, although they never made an appearance while I was there.

In this installment, we did some public documenting with our cameras outside various locations along the public sidewalk, The first location was a bank , that wasn't extremely busy. The bank did the proper thing to create their privacy by closing the window shaded so we couldn't see inside. As we continued along the sidewalk, police rolled up on us. The officer asked if we were tourists & when I asked why , he mentioned because we were recording. I asked if he was a tourist as well since he displayed a body worn camera. It was a cordial encounter with the officer & he drove away without further incident. We eventually made our way to the front of a hotel valet parking area, occupying a portion of the public sidewalk . An individual came out who identified himself as hotel security acknowledged that we were on the public sidewalk & informed us that we were hindering their valet operations & asked if we would move further down the by a tree, we declined & a short time later took out his phone playing music of who I'll call Swaylor Twift in an attempt to stop us from publishing our content on social media. I told him I'd simply mute out the portions of the video that featured identifiable music. He eventually gave up his effort & went inside without any further incident.

In today's installment, we did some recording outside this In n Out location during the dinner rush. As most In n Out locations are, this one was quite busy , with the drive thru line extending around the corner. There was no indoor seating & only had tables with umbrellas around the back of the property from what I could see. They also have a walk up window to place an order , with the line extending into the parking lot in the path of cars leaving the drive thru lane at times. The employees did a great job at this location & did not make contact with us & I even heard one of the employees telling a curious customer that there was nothing they could do since we were standing on the public sidewalk. We did get contact from various customers in the drive thru lane, with one gal asking why I was recording but wanted me to turn off my camera while she asked. Another customer overheard me reading a license plate & asked why I was doing that. I told her I was a license plate enthusiast. She tried to tell me that I wasn't allowed to record license plates as far as she knew according to the law. I asked her where she heard her information & she replied , where I work. I asked where she worked that gave her that information & she declined to answer.

In today's installment, I decided to test my freedom to record in public, outside this Islamic center. The main point of contact I encountered was from a groups leaving the property in their vehicle. Almost immediately, they asked if I was doing an audit & jumped straight into identifying me as a trans man (technically a trans man is a female who transitions to male). They then claimed I was one of those Trump people, whatever that is supposed to mean. The verbal exchange went back & forth & then the driver made a false assumption that I am a hateful person who doesn't like Muslims. they eventually drove off without further incident. A short time later, an individual popped out from what appeared to be the office & on his phone telling me not to take pictures here. Apparently they had called police, as law enforcement arrived on scene soon after. A total of 3 police vehicles were dispatched to the center. while the 3rd patrol car hung back most likely observing the scene from across the street . Police did make contact with me, asking if I was recording & when I declined to answer questions he reversed direction to go back to speak with the calling party. As the officer walked away I did ask him for the incident # & he informed me I'd get that information before he left. After talking with the calling party, he returned with the information I asked for. I then asked him if he knew why in general often times police are seen not wearing their seatbelts. His reply was have a good day as he walked back to his car. For this location, I gave an obvious fail to the calling party . Police did a decent job from what I witnessed , although I was disappointed he didn't answer the seat belt question.

In today's video we recorded outside this Starbucks drive thru. We were met by some curious customers & employees demanding we stop recording. The first gal rolled her window down wanting to know what we were doing from across the alley. I asked her why she was getting Starbucks. You ask me a question , I ask you a question 😊. Another customer in the drive thru wearing a Denver broncos shirt, seemed a bit more irate & began recording us after saying what we were doing was weird. I pointed out that since he was recording us too , It wasn't so weird after all. As he drove away he had some choice words for us . The broncos fan returned moments later for a lengthy cam back. He then proceeded to go inside & give another cam back. A short time later, law enforcement arrived on scene. The female officer we encountered was quite friendly with us, as my audit partner asked if there was an incident # for the call. I noticed another patrol car in the parking lot area. Since we didn't hear any threat of trespass from the employees , although we never stepped foot onto the property before, we proceeded to document the police action in the parking lot. One woman accused my audit partner of hitting her car & another driver in the parking lot claimed she heard from another person we were recording children & accused us of being child m*****ers. Eventually everyone went on their way without further incident.
A definite fail goes to the calling party on this one & I give a pass to law enforcement for their professionalism while on scene.

In today's installment, we did some documenting with our cameras outside this foreign consulate. The entry gate was just feet away from the sidewalk where we saw a security guard posted at the entry point. A 2nd guard was also near the entrance , who peaked around the door asking if we needed help. My audit partner asked the guard if he could please move out of the way of our line of sight. He said no & closed the gate. We noticed a few steps down the sidewalk there was a vantage point through the shrubbery we could still see through the fence & some of the happenings going on near the entrance. I mover further down the sidewalk in the opposite direction where I saw what seemed like a courtyard with a gazebo in the middle going from one building to the other. Security & a couple others took notice of our presence once again & within about 10 mins. L.A.P.D. officers arrived on scene. They proceeded to go inside & speak with whoever called for their services. A short time later the officers returned out to the public sidewalk. One officer who was driving, asked if we were recording & my audit partner asked the officer if he was chewing gum . He told my audit partner that there was noting illegal with us taking pictures & my partner then told him it wasn't illegal to chew gum either lol. A passerby seemed to show support for the First amendment & engaged with us telling us that he watched YouTube videos & tried to name a couple people by describing them , could be anyone as his description was vague.

In todays video, I tested my freedom to document on the public sidewalk outside this catholic church . The majority of folks coming & going seemed friendly with the occasional wave hello, although there were some encounters I had where I was met with curiosity & some rudeness. The worst of the bunch was a woman leaving the property demanding to know what I was doing. when I asked her the same question in return, she stated I looked stupid doing what I was doing, so In my nature to return the energy I get, i told her she looked stupid with her arms covered in tattoos . She must not have liked that very much as she gave me the 1 finger salute as she drove off. The friendliest encounter I had was from an individual who came out to extend an invitation to come inside, however he didn't want me to come inside with my cameras on. That's fine since I was content where I was on the public sidewalk. I was even able to capture some bonus footage as I was leaving. An individual who reminded me of Borat's sidekick wanted to know what I was doing as well. When I didn't give him the answers he wanted, he then asked if I was one of those silly auditors who provoke people. I asked if he was provoked & he said no. He did tell me he was 5'5 so I figured he might have been Curious George, The Curious Little Catholic. As I continued back to my car, I did notice law enforcement was posted further up the street. As I made my way in the direction of the patrol car, the office immediately reversed direction & vacated the scene.
