So, Toyota Motor Corp's current President Akio Toyoda who's also the grandson of Toyota founder Kiichiro Toyoda has announced he is stepping down and will be replaced by Koji Sato, the Chief Branding Officer and President of Lexus , a subsidiary of Toyota. The unveiling of Sato as new Toyota president will take place on April 1 this year.
Toyoda who wants to let the 'new generation take over' told the Financial Times that the objective of the new team is to fully change Toyota into a Mobility company. Toyoda claimed that Sato was the ideal candidate for the position of CEO because he was eager to learn about Toyota's philosophy and technology. Another factor that he highlighted was his youth.
As for Toyoda, he will continue to remain in power. Takeshi Uchiyamada ,Director of Representative will give up his chairman position and Toyoda will assume that role.
