LATHI - .genius ft. ( cover)
cover project on now-happening in Indonesia. The music is well-known for fusing latest electro hype & traditional instruments along with ancient philosophy of the Javanese, most populous tribe in the archipelago.
The term “Lathi” means “Tongue.” It is put that way as one of the values Javanese people uphold is “Ajining diri ana ing lathi,” meaning “The true value of oneself lies within their words.”
Weird Genius & Sara Fajira fused those value with the popular music genre that is now being embraced by most Indonesian youth.
In this video, you can see how they put the proverbs into the lyrics, “Kowe ra iso mlayu saka kesalahan, ajining diri ana ing lathi,” which is translated to “You can’t run from your mistake, the true value of oneself lies within their words.”
