As I sit and started scribbling on my paper, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the cherished upbringing I had with my grandparents. Now, as an adult, I find myself yearning for the warm care, unwavering support, and pampering that made me feel like the most special child in the world. My Nanay Pining's love was truly one of a kind. It is perhaps this upbringing that has instilled in me a deep love for all things vintage – old songs, old objects, and the wisdom of old souls.

One of the things I hold most dear are the stories and experiences shared by my grandparents and other elderly people. Listening to them recount their lives, the tools they used in the past, and exchanging intriguing historical fun facts has been a wellspring of inspiration for me.

This inspiration manifested in my artwork, "Pamana," which means "heritage" in Filipino.

This is the very reason why I also stumble upon Postcrossing in Google while searching for a way to rekindle the joy of receiving handwritten letters and postcards.

It was like unearthing a treasure from the past. The excitement of receiving a heartfelt message from a distant land, carefully crafted and sent via snail-mail, warmed my heart in a way that modern communication couldn't replicate.

Thankfully, I eventually found a local Postcrossing group where I can get more details how to start sending postcards here in the Philippines!

As a parent and homeschooling mom, I find my heart's desire is to instill this same kind of passion in my own children. I want to nurture in them a love for their cultural heritage, an appreciation for the wisdom of the elderly, and an excitement for exploring the world through meaningful connections like Postcrossing.

Last Independence Day, we were fortunate to witness a remarkable event. Juan Luna's magnificent masterpiece, 'H***n, oh H***nee,' also known as Boda Romana, was unveiled to the public after mysteriously vanishing for over 130 years!

Ayala Museum crafted a compelling documentary, taking us on a quest to recover this lost treasure. We also marveled how intricate sketches and painstaking process Luna employed before transferring his vision onto canvas. It was a testament to his mastery and dedication. 🥺

Looking forward to have another Museum visit soon! Will definitely include this to my Juan Luna Artist Study cards and puzzle collection in the future. 🥰

For months now, a particular idea has consumed my thoughts.

It revolves around the concept of finding solace and tranquility amidst the chaos of our weary world.

Perhaps it stems from our inner desire to find comfort and rest in the face of relentless work and challenges each day.

Then, I find myself sketching this piece I named, "Waiting for the King".

In this scene, we find a patient wife, gracefully reclining upon a throne chair as she eagerly awaits the triumphant return of her good husband, the Mighty King.

Now, my new goal as an artist is to learn how to paint. I hope to paint this someday. 🥺

Reading-a-loud and having discussions together are important for us since that might be the only time I can focus on teaching. It's like hitting two birds with one stone, considering my tight day-to-day schedule.

This has been a struggle for me ever since I started working full-time again.

I have to decide my priorities daily, and it's never easy, especially when I feel like neglecting them in some ways.

Fortunately, they have become more independent in many ways, but personally, I'm still adjusting to it.

I miss having longer homeschooling sessions. I miss doing our own unit studies and worksheets. If only I could be a paid homeschool teacher, life would be so much happier! 🤧

But even though times are tougher now, I will continue homeschooling.

Reflection on my life

Freelance works related to Crafting, Souvenirs, and Party printables taught me how to exercise my creative process without the fear of trying new things.

I can say that my styling and designing career is a God-given provision for me to manage my time aligned with my priorities as a Homemaker.

That freedom (though it requires more effort and time of work to create and produce ideas into life) is exactly what I need to sustain my love for art despite having a mutual commitment of love to take care of my family.

It also allowed me to teach my children how to be resourceful, be grateful for whatever project we could get, and that hard work and passion in whatever we choose in life reflects on how we deal with our outputs (good and bad) and the relationship we maintain with the people we work with that boils down to our chief end - to glorify God.

Finally, even if we struggle in whatever circumstances in life were in, know that we are serving and being taken care of by a Good and Wise God.

And if we're lost and forget our ways, we should strive harder to find our path back to Him who will never leave nor forsake us.

So never fear starting over again. 🧡

This is not a published book "yet".

I think, most creative people who loves reading books, has a dream of making their own someday.

Specially in today's age, where almost everything we could think can possibly made.

I guess, the only thing we couldn't is to buy more time. 😅😆

It is indeed, a daily decision for us to make when all our tasks and responsibilities got piled up already.

Where should we put our mind, our energy, our time?

These are some thought's in my head as I started to scribble on my tablet. Trying to relax after a long tiring day.

I felt sad, cold, and cloudy.

But as I cheer myself up, I look at my children, thinking the goodness of the Lord in our life. We can eat, healthy, and not enduring any physical pain.

I remember that I was never alone in this journey.

I started singing in my head.

"So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchanged it some day for a crown"

and viola! I found myself putting the red scarf, and it warms me up.

Sometimes, the ordinary turns out to be a big core memory in our children's lives.

We might be forgetful, but our heart (even our body) remembers the ordinary.

There are times when I wanted them to be more independent in their reading time so I can be more available in other things.

Then I will hear a side comment from my Grade 4 student,

"Mommy, It's different when you are the one who reads."

Begging me to stay by their side for a bit more time. Waiting for some giggles and funny moments as we read.

So I'll end up reading it for them. 😅😂

Of course, if weren't that busy, we will always choose them. But we know that besides from our busyness in life as parents, we should slowly teach them to be more independent as they age.

I honestly still get thorn in between. But, I will do my best to buy some time and collect ordinary days with them.

We don't have many books, but we value every book we read together.

As a matter of fact, most of our books when we started homeschooling (back around 2019) were either donated or borrowed from a good friend.(This is the same reason why iI DIY materials we could use hahaha)

So, we kinda treasure every piece of book that we could afford to have along the way.

Recently, I have decided to let go some of our books to collect more money for our school year expenses.

As I pick one by one, I can't help but to reminisce the days we were reading it. Hahaha. Even my two students are having some sort of nostalgia as we uncover it again.

So we decided to read it again for the last time before letting go.

Hello everyone!

It's been a while since the last time I became so energetic on IG.

By God's grace, I finally have the courage and strength to face the virtual world again!

Though for sure, I might feel the pressure together with our constant busyness in life once in a while.

But this time, I find it more comforting to showcase our daily life as a family, as homeschoolers, and as an artist by art itself. Thankfully, our kids artworks are involve too! Hahaha.

I also manage to rebuild my brand, Website and Shopee again. Yey!

So hopefully, all these provisions will help me create more useful materials to the community.

My heart is truly grateful for all your support and encouragements.

Made for teaching children about the things of God, Man, and Creation.

Includes 10 Commandments and the Lord's Prayer.

Several bible verse reference that supports each answer were included.

Card dimension approx: 3.5 x 2 inches/card

Catechism is a lifetime tool not only for our children but until to next generation to come.

We recently visited National Museum as part of our year-end field trip . Sobrang happy and excited ng kids as we encounter historical paintings and sculptures around Fine Arts Hall.

I even got emotional in some moments where I found each painting piece that I could only have a glance at from books and art prints before.

It also reminds me of how Lola Purita Kalaw Ledesma's first Museum experience that changed her life forever.

Iba parin pala talaga in person. I wish to have more Museum field trips pa.
