Getting REAL, here…
A few weeks ago, I had a session with a wellness coach. We’ll call her “Amanda”. ☺️
Amanda has been in the game for YEARS, and has made it her mission to empower folks who want to heal themselves from the inside out.
She posted early every day, showed workout routines, showed meal preps and mindset exercises , even went as far as to show the fact that she’s a grandmother… and was frustrated out of her mind because no one was engaging; save for friends and family— and no one was buying her program.
But Amanda was sitting on a huge secret.
She had struggled with body image for her entire life and felt as though she wasn’t being real with her audience by only showing the upside of wellness.
So, we worked on content and messaging that empowered her to comfortably tell her story and her present struggles, and how her programming empowered and changed her.
Baby, when I tell you those reels went OFF?! Engagement through the roof, community revived, and butts in the seats for her webinar! 💥
Release the burden of perfection. Your people will find you, and when they do they need to be able to relate to you. They need to be able to SEE you. Your struggles are a part of your purpose! Don’t hide behind them. Let your light SHINE! You are proof of hope. You are proof of “better”. Your content is your megaphone. 🫶🏾

Don’t lean on or insist on leaning on a platform if you’re not quite sure how to optimize it and make it work *for* you!
Facebook isn’t nearly as poppin’ (or dare I say as relevant) as it was ten or even fifteen years ago; but it still has some uses that can help boost your marketing, productivity, and community building!
It’s a HUB. It’s the motherboard, and if you still have an account most of its advantages in that regard are FREE.
Is it flawless? NAUR…. but it’s a super freakin’ solid option right now.
Of course, if you know in your soul that the audience you want *are* primarily on Facebook, that means your audience is likely a little older and your content should reflect their needs—not just be accessible because of the platform. You may want to look at tweaking your reels, etc. a bit.
All things I dive deeper into during sessions with my coaching clients. 😉
Think of it this way…
If social media is Bikini Bottom— Facebook is “Karen”. (No pun intended) 😂

My favorite part of this session was us getting REAL and talking about the frustrations of showing up online consistently. Burnout looms, and when you don’t see the ROI you hope for after all the WORK and TIME; it’s TOO easy to start questioning your path and your purpose. Babe, I GET IT.
That’s why I don’t shy away from talking about it or incessantly seeking solutions that make sense for YOU.
Client satisfaction is of utmost importance to me, of course, but satisfaction can also be very subjective.
I’m much more concerned with:
1. Did they leave with more than they came with?
2. By the time we log off, have they been given actionable steps and relatable examples as opposed to just industry buzz words and fluff?
3. Have they reconnected with or located their jenae-sais-quoi? Their own unique and personal “something special” rooted in their why that supports their Big Picture goals and will keep them on an upward trajectory toward them?
4. Have I been a safe space for them? Unleashing your greatest desires for your business and being okay with needing help is a display of VULNERABILITY and TRUST! Have I honored that? Have I honored THEM?
5. Have we had FUN?! Business ownership and being a creative is not always a good time. Have I helped them remember that, “oh yeah… I friggin’ LOVE this work! I’m AMAZING at this! I’m having a wonderful time!” ?

… I interrupted a killer workout (courtesy of @keepgoingkat ) to talk about two of my favorite things :
-Social Strategy and Mexican Food… 😆
Clients come to me almost daily burnt out, frustrated and ready to throw in the towel because they are overlooking one KEY COMPONENT to content creation, content strategy and social media strategy…
🔊Social media isn’t about saying 200 different things 200 times every other day…
It’s about cementing your messaging and saying a few KEY things 200 different ways.
🌯 I look at social like Mexican food—-(HEAR ME OUT)—which takes nutritionally dense, high-value base ingredients rich in culture, flavor and love; and making a ton of different meals with them.
If you have tortillas, meat, cheese, and sauce you can make burritos, taquitos, flautas, quesadillas, tostadas and so on… All it takes is varying temperatures, meal sizes/appetites, kitchenware, etc. to take the same handful of ingredients and make them into a whole new meal/concept.
In that same way, a blog can transform into a newsletter, a reel, a TikTok, a YouTube short or long form video , a LinkedIn post, a tweet thread, and so on.
Making “Mexican food” out of your social strategy is ultimately a masterclass in social listening and knowing how any given audience digests your value on any given platform.
Now this isn’t to say you shouldn’t be fresh, come with new ideas and disrupt industry. It’s to say there’s an art and a magic to making your business/brand digestible, effective, and time efficient.
“This burrito should’ve just been a taco”, said no one who ordered a burrito, ever. 😂

I hate to break it to ya…. 😬
But it’s true….
Unless your business goals support or require you going the route of an influencer, vanity metrics like follower count and views are not *that* significant. 🙃
Instead of focusing on gaining a ton of followers or a million views, ask yourself if you creating content that is converting followers into customers, or that’s inspiring the folks who may not be interacting directly with your content to hire you and take the relationship offline.
I’d rather have 500 followers and consistent sales/bookings than 1M followers and be struggling offline. 🤷🏾♀️
There are unicorns that can do a million roles in one—but no one should be asked to carry the weight of an entire marketing department unless they want to, are able to, and are getting compensated accordingly. Folks on both ends of that relationship—get very clear on your goals, the abilities and the capacities of folks you bring in and make sure it all works cohesively. 💯
…and finally…
Your social media is ultimately a reflection of your business goals and of yourself. Bringing in a team or someone to help you doesn’t mean you can wash your hands of social entirely. Your team needs to be able to translate your goals into a strategy, and create with YOUR voice, YOUR flare, YOUR je ne sais quoi.
Nurture your team , listen to their guidance and expertise, and give them what they need so they can create work that will contribute to your overall success. They need you and so do your followers/future consumers. 💙
Some rough truths, but I share because I care—and because I can help you figure all of this out and execute it in a way that honors your goals, your team, and your vision. 😉
