There’s one question I have to ask when listening to Rust: are you moshing hard, or hardly moshing? Cause guaranteed you gonna be moshing. 🥋

Tune in Thursday to hear more about the New Age signing and upcoming plans from drummer and absolute sweetheart Dillon Forret! 🖤

This week we’re giving a shout out to Baytown Hardcore. Booking shows in a smaller town can always have its difficulties, but you gotta show some respect to people working hard to build a scene in some of the hard to reach areas. Baytown is focused on booking shows in the Barrie area and creating a scene for all-ages accessibility, something that every city could benefit from having.

Tune in Thursday to hear more about both Baytown Hardcore and Slewfoot from promoter and vocalist Ty Askin!

22/01/2024

Today we’re listening to Enveloping Absurdity, the newest LP from Phobophilic. I’m loving current climate of death metal with so many new bands that are super heavy, but you don’t usually see the ones playing on the technical side such as Cynic, Death, or even Cryptopsy. Phobophilic is forging a path in that direction, and a clear one at that.

Tune in Thursday to hear more in this week’s episode with drummer Vincent Tweten!

15/01/2024

This week you better AIM-STRAIGHT cause we’re listening to DEMO 2023 from Brampton’s 100%PURE. I love when a band isn’t afraid to pull from a number of genres and make a unique brand of hardcore. Pure truly do this, pulling from elements of melodic and Baltimore hardcore, they’ve also thrown a curve by adding Sonic Youth-esque sounds through every song, and I’m here for it.

Tune in Thursday to hear more in this week’s episode with vocalist Kevin Tipan!

08/01/2024

This week we’re listening to Evil Eyez, the latest EP from Torena. I feel like crossover can be a very confusing and vague term most of the time. It’s kinda thrown around to classify hard-to-describe bands. When I use the term crossover to define Torena, that statement couldn’t be further from the truth. A perfect blend of hardcore vocals and rhythms with brutal metal riffs that feel straight out of a lost “Iowa”-era Slipknot record. I constantly find this album in my listening rotations.

02/01/2024

Starting off this new year, we’re listening to the 2022 self-titled LP from Spite House released on NMZ. This album checks a lot of boxes for me; it’s emotional, it’s heavy, the songs are incredibly well written, it sounds good. It’s one of those albums that sounds familiar and nostalgic even if it’s the first time hearing it, which I find to be a very special quality.

Tune in Thursday to hear more in this week’s episode with Max and Mark from Spite House!

We decided to take a little break from releasing an episode this week, but with the new year swiftly approaching, we just wanted to take a moment to look back at all of our guests of 2023 and say a huge thank you to everyone that has spent time sharing about their lives and music over a cup of coffee!

Cheers to you all, and raise your mugs to a great 2024! ☕️

18/12/2023

This week we’re listening to “Trouble in the Winner’s Circle”, the newest single from Canadian Hardcore legends Comeback Kid. It’s crazy to think that “Wake the Dead” was one of the first Hardcore songs I ever heard as a kid, and twenty years later these guys are still putting out great music. This new single feels like a step into a new era of CBK, much more melodic and punk-forward, but definitely a sing-along!

11/12/2023

This week we’re listening to Verminous, the most recent release from The Black Dahlia Murder.

For 20 years The Black Dahlia Murder has been a leading force is Metal music, influencing countless bands and musicians in the scene today and releasing ten records to date. I remember seeing the video for “Funeral Thirst” for the first time and being entranced by the combination of speed and melody of the music and knowing I’d never heard anything like that before.

Tune in Thursday to hear more about the writing in this week’s episode with drummer Alan Cassidy!
