The world's largest single-capacity offshore wind turbine, successfully installed on August 28th in Hainan, China by Mingyang Smart Energy

MySE18.X-20MW, model features modular, lightweight design with flexible power up to 20MW and a wind rotor diameter of 260-292 meters.

The race for bigger offshore wind turbines is continue and Mingyang smart energy is leading the charge. It has already designed 22 MW Offshore Wind Turbine model which means in near future, we will witness installation of 22 MW Wind Turbine.

The Netherlands has granted permits for the construction and operation of its largest offshore wind farms to date. The permits have been awarded to Noordzeker and Zeevonk II, Noordzeker is a consortium that consists of SSE Renewables, Pensioenfonds ABP and APG . Zeevonk II is a consortium that consists of Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners with Noordzeker taking charge of the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Site Alpha and Zeevonk II managing the IJmuiden Ver Wind Farm Site Beta. Together, these projects will contribute an impressive 4 gigawatts (GW) of Offshore wind energy capacity, covering approximately 14% of the country’s current electricity consumption.

Developed independently by Dongfang Electric Corporation, this colossal turbine boasts a rotor diameter of 260 meters and a blade sweep area exceeding 53,000 square meters—equivalent to 7.4 standard football fields.

Each rotation of the turbine generates 38 kilowatt-hours of electricity. Remarkably, a single unit can produce up to 72 million kilowatt-hours annually, enough to meet the electricity needs of approximately 36,000 households.

This impressive output also translates into substantial environmental benefits, saving over 22,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 59,000 tons each year.
