Learning is an always-on process, no one ever learns enough to stop learning. At IndieAfrica we believe in books, art and media as being very vital instruments in the learning process. The implication here is that one of our main agenda at IndieAfrica is to promote continuous and circular learning through works of art, through publications (books) and through related media projects. So, in promoting Independent Artistry, Readership and Authorship, we incorporate works that will inspire the society to dive into the three agendas. We inspire consumers of the products of the three agendas by making them aware of what exists, for them that may facilitate their learning. And finally by featuring works that are focused of the three, we help creators show themselves and what they can do to the world.

The world will only curse or bless what you show to them. No one curses what's brought to facilitate their learning, maybe only if it hurts in the process.

In 1917, the Nobel Price in Literature was controversially shared by two Danish lieutenants, Karl Adolph Gjellerup and Henrik Pontoppidan. The former's award didn't receive a very good reception, additionally, he was considered more German than Danish.

Today we remember him for his most notable works in literature which include; The German's Apprentice, The Mill and The Pilgrim Kamanita which has been translated to more than 20 languages worldwide. More about Karl Adolph Gjellerup will be on our website. Follow the link on bio to read..

Hey you, check this out!!!

Widows are words or a small group of words that sits by themselves at the bottom of a page, their meanings usually don't come out until the reader opens the next page. Widows complicate connectivity and flow of the paragraphs and eventually the story. Too many widows could irritate readers to an extent of halting the read and even giving a negative review.

Orphans are words left over from a paragraph on the previous page. When a reader thinks they are done with a paragraph/a page then BOOM!!! a lone word that sends them back to the previous page to reconnect. Orphans could be difficult to absorb without referring to the previous page. Too much orphans tire the reader hence losing interest in the book.

Minimise or if possible, avoid widows and orphans by completing sentences on a single page or describing stray words and sentences on a single page. Widows and orphans wouldn't probably be completely avoided but it is advisable to avoid them (not at all cost though if your editor feels avoidance will affect the flow of the story)
