Join us (Tasha and Julia) while we discuss and analyze our favourite horror movies from the classics to modern day creep-fests. Each episode we'll delve into a specific movie, series, or subgenre and rate them using our "Scare-o-meter" and "Jack-o-lantern" rating systems.

We learned so much about vampires from this film. A lot of the lore may have already been around for a while, but we learned they could be young, cool, and bad ass as well as lethal. Also a certain blond vampire may have been heavily influenced by Keifer Sutherland's character in a later famous television series... Can you name the show/character??

It was the year 2003 - and this film was so perfectly dark and moody. Underworld seems to exist in a simpler time, very stylistic, and yet because of its use of mainly practical effects, it holds up quite well with some of the best onscreen werewolf transformations out there. Exciting news from the wrecks of the Erebus and Terror!
This month on the podcast we covered the entirety of AMC’s The Terror season 1 based on the lost ships.
Fascinating artifacts were collected, and thousands of high-quality images were taken during the twelve-day research period.
This month's theme is centred around the 2018 miniseries, 'The Terror' - from the 2007 novel by American author Dan Simmons. This haunting historical fiction centres on Captain John Franklin's lost expedition on the HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. The Arctic exploration from 1845–1848 was tasked from England, to locate the Northwest Passage, but ended up meeting a horrible fate in the Canadian Arctic.

The X-Files brought the spooky and creepy to audiences for over a decade. There were many a creepy and disturbing episode throughout the series, but the character of Tooms stands above the rest and began the series' "Monster of the Week" trend that influenced all televised horror to follow.

For our special 100th episode (which happened to fall on Halloween) we decided to do a cult classic and favourite - 1996's The Craft. This film influenced a generation of alternative culture and renewed interest in the Craft itself.

2016's The Autopsy of Jane Doe is definitely not for the faint of heart. If graphic depictions of autopsies are not your thing, you may want to skip this one - BUT if you're going for a crappy thriller this spooky season - this might BE the movie to watch! 🎃

One of the closest film adaptations of a novel, Hellraiser is based off 'the Hellbound Heart' by Clive Barker. He also directed this film, and managed to create one of the most famous villains in horror, although he hates the nickname. 'Pinhead' was originally known as the Priest. This film also features some of the greatest body horror and practical effects in horror.

Technically you could call it a haunted doll-esq movie, but the original 1982 film Poltergeist is So. Much. More. From the real life tragedy that spans all three films to the onscreen thrills that do not disappoint (although some have aged a little ridiculously) this film remains one of the scariest and most influential of the 20th century!

This 2007 haunted dummy flick was actually directed by James Wan. Although not his best work, clearly he has a thing for dolls.

You can't have a killer doll theme without this guy! The Child's Play series not only brought full personality and character to the haunted doll tradition, but also produced some of the most advanced animatronics of its time. The 'true life' Annabelle Doll was in fact an oversized Raggedy Ann Doll. Ed & Lorraine Warren retrieved the doll in 1971 from a nursing student who claimed the doll exhibited malicious and frightening behaviour. The Warrens pronounced it demonically possessed, and it's been sitting in their occult room ever since under lock & key....

Haunted or "creepy" Dolls are our theme for this month, so we decided to start with an infamous one based on a true story.
The first Annabelle movie was actually a bit of a flop, interestingly the sequel (or more accurately, Pre-qual) begins with the origin story of how Annabelle came to be.. 🎎 👹
