In 2022 I went through many changes in my personal life: Starting therapy, learning how to manage ADHD, changing my relationship status, and constantly changing homes.

This year I want to focus more on improving professionally and creatively.

I want to learn who I am as a creator, what I like doing, and what my purpose is. I want to make cool s**t and help people and inspire people.

I will make it a priority to post content more consistently. Some of it will be good and some of it will be not so good.

But you learn more from trying and failing than holding off in an attempt to get it right the first time.

It’s that time for self reflection! I must admit it’s been pretty cool sharing my life and thoughts on here (along with some food reviews too 😛) and seeing people being receptive to it, sending me supportive words, and sharing their own experiences.

It’s scary being transparent but it’s taught me that we are all more alike than it seems.

So I want to thank YOU for being here and being a part of my journey. You’ve helped me grow to become a more confident and open minded person. And it is my goal to do the same for you.

Hi Instagram, I haven't really posted lately, and I feel horrible about it. But honestly, I don't have much to say. I haven't been feeling inspired, I have imposter syndrome, and frankly there are bigger issues in my life at the moment.

But what I've realized, is that we are not machines and we don't need to be consistent from day to day.

Life has its seasons. In one season you might feel inspired and motivated, and in another you might feel hopeless. And that is okay.

Because life’s ebbs and flows are important. These changes are necessary to help you realize what you need in order to grow.

One year ago I quit my job as a senior quality engineer because I wanted more from life and wanted a better balance between money, work, and happiness. I LOVED personal finance but had no one to share this enthusiasm with.

So I started making videos about it, even though I didn't feel like I had the authority to do so... and my voice is monotone af.

Before you know it, I am working full time for my hero and was so graciously welcomed into this online community. I've made a bunch of new friends, both creators and non-creators, who appreciate personal finance and inspire me to be better.

Last week, we attended FinCon and hosted a Personal Finance Club meetup. It was scary but also wholesome to meet so many awesome people from the internet… many who love personal finance way more than I do!

Whenever you do something out of the ordinary, IT WILL BE HARD. But if you find a community to support you, it makes all the difference.

This is a touchy subject for good reasons. I feel very vulnerable publicizing this, but if this can help someone, it's worth it.

Whether you make more or less than me, stop comparing yourself to others. Everyone's on a different path with different obstacles, privileges, and priorities... so there's no such thing as being ahead or behind.

I will admit that I have been guilty of letting my income define my self-worth. Or feeling like I am better than someone because I make more.

But careers are not always linear and there is more to a person than what is on their paycheck. I admire people who have hustled to make $200K/year, but I also admire people who support their families by doing delivery or rideshare apps.

Stop letting your income determine your value as a human. The same goes for your relationship status, weight, car, how many likes you got, etc. Nowadays it's so easy to measure people in those ways when there are much more important qualities (:

I am sharing this to remind you that behind every number there is a story. Everyone's path is completely unique so it's quite impossible to use numbers to compare people.

BUT ALSO, I think this information is important to share in order to lift each other up. Employers don't want you sharing this stuff so that they can rip you off. Make sure you get paid fairly, and if you think someone deserves more, help them get there.

I will be honest, lately I've been focusing too much on money and 'hustling'. I love it, but as a result, I've been neglecting my mental health, physical health, relationship, friendships, and family. But at the end of this life, what is really important?

Being successful is more than just what you've accomplished financially or in your career. I don’t really have a solution for this as I am personally struggling to find a better balance.

But I’ve finally decided that I want to start going to therapy. I've avoided it for so long because it's expensive and that is serious money that could have been invested in the stock market... but what about investing in myself?

Money isn’t the most important thing. Sometimes you have to sacrifice that in order to take care of your health and well being.

I say: just pick something and try it. It might not be the career you end up with. You might suck or you might get bored. THAT'S AWESOME. That means you're one step closer to figuring out what you want in life.

When it comes to success, we don't give *failure* enough credit. Do I regret attempting any of these things? No! Each 'fail' has given me experience and clarity, made me stronger, and led me to where I am today. (The same applies to dating too I guess) So now for me, the definition of failure is not trying.

I'm going live tonight!

To celebrate 4000 followers on Instagram, I will be facing my fear of doing an IG live alone 😥

I'll talk about my financial situation, how to get rich, how to calculate retirement stuff, why investing is important, and give an introduction on how to invest.

I'll leave the replay up for at least a day. Maybe longer but I can't make that commitment right now... I hate public speaking but the fastest way to grow is to do stuff that makes you uncomfortable.

I’ve always been insecure about my personality. I’ve been told that I talk like Ben Stein and Daria. Those are not compliments. I don’t have the ideal personality of a YouTuber or party attendee. They are energetic and show emotion. My sense of humor is not normal.

I QUIT MY JOB DURING A PANDEMIC.

Was this stupid? Hell yeah. Does the unknown future scare me? Very much.

Last year, while I was doing freelance graphic design full time, a previous employer invited me to come back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I suddenly became a senior quality engineer at this aerospace manufacturing company. They allowed me to work 2 days a week, with full benefits. I stopped doing graphic design.. and was saving money.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How FREAKIN amazing is that, right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did I really leave this rare opportunity? Giving up my awesome health insurance plan & paycheck..? During a time when people are getting sick and/or losing their jobs?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now I have no steady income. And I have to pay more money for a s**ttier healthcare plan from healthcare.gov.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So why did I make such an irresponsible decision?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I still find myself regretting it sometimes, but my gut was telling me that it was time to go. I have zero desire to further my career in this profession or industry. Life's too damn short and NOW is the time to find my purpose.

This was only possible because I have saved enough money to take time off from working. (Some people call this "F-You Money") Thank you frugality, index funds, and not owning a house.

Sooo... what's next? I'm not totally sure.. Not gonna lie, I want to take an honest shot at YouTube/Facebook. If that doesn't work out, then we'll go from there.

I have a constant fear that I'll never find a career that I'm content with. But I would rather die trying than stay stagnant.
