This article goes into the details about gender (in)equality in the workplace. "While most of us are aware that women are often paid less than men in the same occupation, ILOSTAT data show where the gaps are largest. The median gender wage gap for 115 countries with available data is 14% in favor of men. And male-dominated occupations have even higher wage premiums for men. "

A study done by Cornell University in 2005 found that mothers have a disadvantage when being hired compared to women with no child, men with no children, and men with children. Participants were likely to hire 84% of women without children, but only 43% of women with children. The study also found that men with children almost had an advantage over men without children, as they were viewed to be more committed to their jobs.

According to the IWPR, after a full year's work, women earn about 76.3% of a man's salary for equivalent work. While, on average, non-white men earn disproportionately less than white men, women earn less than men of the same race.
