Producers spend hours and hours making beats and working on your projects, if his computer dies no one is gonna help him buy a new one or repair it. It's only fair to pay producers for beats and his services. If you cant afford beats feel free to use free beats from YouTube until you are financially good to buy your own beats. Music production is very expensive guys not to mention the number of hours we are behind the PC. Pay that producer dawg stop asking for free beats💯

Here are some key pieces of advice for hip-hop artists:

1. **Develop Your Unique Style**: Find your voice and perspective. Authenticity resonates with audiences.

2. **Master Your Craft**: Invest time in writing, flow, and delivery. Practice consistently and experiment with different styles.

3. **Network**: Build relationships within the industry. Collaborate with other artists, producers, and promoters to expand your reach.

4. **Utilize Social Media**: Share your music and engage with fans on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Use these platforms to showcase your personality and artistry.

5. **Create Quality Content**: Focus on producing high-quality music and visuals. Invest in good production and consider professional videography for music videos.

6. **Stay Consistent**: Release music regularly to keep your audience engaged. Consider singles, EPs, or a full album.

7. **Understand the Business**: Learn about music distribution, royalties, and contracts. Protect your rights and explore different revenue streams.

8. **Perform Live**: Gain experience by performing at local venues, open mics, or festivals. Live performances can help you build a fanbase.

9. **Stay Inspired**: Listen to a variety of music, read, and stay informed about current events. Use your experiences and influences to fuel your creativity.

10. **Be Resilient**: The music industry can be tough. Stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep pushing forward despite setbacks.

Focus on your passion, and let that drive your journey.

In Business, it's the small things that count. Every sale makes a difference.

It's the reason why you can't see a doctor without paying a fee, a lawyer never gives free legal advice.

However, when it comes to music, the availability of free downloadable music has created a mentality shift. People would rather search for a link than buy online. This gives platform for poor quality music to rotate and dominate, taking away the true value of the art. It makes artists to put in little effort and producers to make rush jobs, thus so much bubblegum music all over the Internet.

Friendships, ironically, supposed to be the first customers who consume the music that's great, however, friendship is viewed as free access to free music, which also kills the business.

Honest friendships are good for business because they're the first critics, if a song is horrible they should be the first to tell you not to put it out, and work harder on it. If they find it good, they should be the first customers to put their money where they're support is, and buy it without discount.

We are the dominant society, making up the majority of the customer statistics, yet because of the lack of true support our businesses fail the most!

NB: The theme should be: Don't support me because I'm Black or Proudly South African. Support me because my product is good enough and worthy enough to be purchased. This will enable more quality products on the market, and force entrepreneurs to step it up.

Career advise for artists

1- If you have nothing constructive to say about another artist and their craft, anything to help them advance then shut up
2- music is subjective, we're all just trying to find our crowd and create a market from that. What you consider wack, another person cannot sleep without giving a listen.
3- respect everyone in your field, hip hop is very competitive and that's good because the competition brings in outside listeners. Don't get caught up in the competition that you lose respect for others, you never know which feature can make your career.
4- Focus on your sound. Creativity is something that needs sharpening with every day that passes, focus on making your next song better that your last.
5- Always listen. Don't get so stuck on being the best that you forget you're not the only artist in the world... listen to different sounds and listen when people advise you on improving your sound

"As an emerging artist, signing to a label doesn't 100% guarantee you'll "blow up."

But one thing is certain: every penny the label spends-recklessly or prudently-will be on you to recoup.

So, as much as having a Manager and Lawyer is important, but equally critical is ensuring the label has an Accountant, proper Internal Control and solid auditing procedures to avoid financial mismanagement.

Think of signing to a label like taking a loan-where your talent is the collateral.

Make sure the label’s financial irresponsibility doesn’t end up on your effort.

Protect yourself and your career."

I believe that those who call themselves singers/rapper's should buy a microphone at least once in their lives.

Not only for the sake of investing in their craft, but also for the appreciation of the equipment they use wherever they go.

Guys if you wanna be independent in this music biz then you gotta have deep pockets or some serious funding. You gotta have MONEY. That is not stressed enough! A business functions because there's money invested into it. You need resources to even produce a finished product, a studio, a producer, engineer, a photographer/videographer with proper cameras for high quality professional visuals that are industry standard, you need transport. If you don't have all those resources then you gotta have MONEY to source them out. To market your brand requires MONEY. To get on national radio you need what?! MONEY! You gotta have a PR & they don't come free, you gotta pay them for their services with MONEY! Posting on social media to reach more people, "sponsored posts", that requires MONEY. Distribution is not free, you need MONEY. For you to even be able to submit to playlists on DSPs you gotta pay, you pay with MONEY! Capasso, RISA, you gotta pay an annual fee & as an independent entity you gotta prepare for no ROI neither 'cause that's still much a possibility.

You need all of that & that's before we even get to how good your product is. That's before we even get to how much effort you put in on a daily basis or how relatable you are to the SAn audience. My biggest worry is that do you know exactly what independence mean?! what type of deals one can sign as an independent brand. Do not starve yourselves following the like of Areece guys. He is one in a million to make it in that manner especially with that style of music he makes. Just know what you're getting yourself into. I'm all for ownership too but there's too much blurred lines in the independence talk that isn't highlighted enough. Areece paid his school fees at Ambitiouz. I would've liked to see how things could've panned out had he started out fully independent. Maphorisa paid his school fees ko Kalawa, Cassper paid his school fees alongside HHP & so forth... Drake is a brand with a lot of MONEY put behind, all those streams are not manna from heaven, MONEY was spent. Just know what goes into this whole ish yo. Don't be misled! It takes MONEY to make MONEY let alone to even be visible in this industry.Guys if you wanna be independent in this music biz then you gotta have deep pockets or some serious funding. Producers have the ability to manipulate samples in various ways, including flipping and remaking them. This is a common practice within the music industry and is generally accepted as part of the Hip hop culture. However, what baffles me is when a producer/Artist not only uses the same concept for a song, but also decides to keep the original name. This lack of creativity and originality is something that I have a major issue with. It feels like a lazy approach to music production and does a disservice to both the original artist and the listeners.
When a producer takes a sample and flips it in a unique and creative way, it can breathe new life into the music. It adds depth and dimension to the track, showcasing the producer's skills and vision. Remaking a sample entirely is also a way to put a fresh spin on the original material, allowing for experimentation and innovation. These are all valid methods of using samples in music production.
However, when a producer/Artist simply takes the same concept from another song and reuses it without adding anything new or innovative, it becomes repetitive and uninspired. It shows a lack of effort and imagination on the part of the producer/Artist. Naming the new track the same as the original further diminishes any sense of originality or creative input.
Music is meant to be a form of expression, a way for artists and producers to share their unique perspectives and creativity with the world. When producers resort to recycling ideas and concepts without adding their own personal touch, it cheapens the art form. It becomes more about replication than creation.
In conclusion, while I appreciate the flexibility and creativity that producers bring to the table when working with samples, I believe it is essential to uphold a certain level of originality and respect for the source material. Using the same concept for a song and retaining the same name shows a lack of creativity and originality that detracts from the overall listening experience. Producers should strive to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas, and create music that is truly their own.
