Controversy? JUDGEMENT?! 💀
Based on local hearsay, let’s take a second to address some possible misconceptions:

We, ROUTINE EXPLOITS, don’t see ourselves as “show promoters”. We aren’t “in competition” with other local promoters or venues.

This notion is silly, never mind counterproductive.

We’re a local art/music label. We’re members of a vibrant & multi-faceted arts scene in Niagara—one that is new and growing.

We aim to help continue that growth, and we’re among good company—Mt. Vile, Medium Baby, Niagara Artists Centre (NAC), Suitcase in Point Multi-Arts Company, & Archives Wine and Spirit Merchants, to name just a few frequent collaborators.

(To the many other like-minded artists & organizations in our community: if we’ve collaborated on an event, been to each other’s events, or even just exchanged kind messages—we consider you part of our community too, of course, and we thank you!)

The local cultural landscape has changed dramatically in the past year alone. It’s an exciting time to be an artist in Niagara.

Not every project fits neatly into a box 📦 (or a warehouse). We work hard to make space for alternative styles & new voices.

Not every experiment of ours is a success. That’s for sure. But we experiment nonetheless.

Thanks for ur time & attention, which you’ve offered to our hits and misses alike.

This galvanizing new release from Sunshine Express sees the group graduating from experimental recording project to living, breathing band. Urgent & electric. Rock ‘n’ roll with an experimental edge. ⚔️

From Sunshine Express:

Our goal was to capture (rather than manufacture) our dynamic performance style as much as possible. We recorded live as a group, without a click, in the same room.

The track mixes rock instrumentation with experimental sounds like pad synths and Mario 64 samples. It includes our signature elements: AKAI sampling, hard-tuned vocals, and an ambient wall-of-sound.

The video gives an immersive sense of our live show: lo-fi grit, an atmospheric aura, and a chaotic, communal energy. It features members of our local following, the Musical Militia, and live-mixed visuals by our projectionist .

Many people helped! To thank a few: Matt, Liam, and Evan from our Routine Exploits family, Amryn, Ty, and Niagara Artists Centre (NAC) for hosting our video/picture shoot.
