We heard in episode two about the significance of Mr. Harding in Crop Over on the plantation and in the early national festival, as memorialised by Barbadian calypsonians, Red Plastic Bag and the Mighty Gabby.

While Mr. Harding has lost his place in the closing of Crop Over celebrations, other islands, including Martinique, Guadeloupe and Dominica continue to burn an effigy named “Vaval” to signal the end of their Carnival festivities.
