The San Bernardino State of the County is an event met with excitement and joy! This year over 1,000 gathered to celebrate the jewel that is San Bernardino County. Rotary International stands as a beacon of hope for communities throughout it’s global network. Last week the empowering of youth leaders was realized through scholarships, presented by LaMirada Club’s outgoing President Raymond Fernandez and incoming President Lori Evans Smith, fostering a global network of change-makers. The efforts of Rotary have touched countless lives, including providing young scholars with a robust network of resources and support needed to become leaders in their own right.
In District #5320, Rotary International's nearly 120 years of service continues to inspire and activate new generations of leaders. The recent District Conference was a testament to the draw and power of the organization, bringing together Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike to celebrate the work being done in their communities.
Lately there has been an exciting push with initiatives to increase membership, bringing a new wave of opportunity and impact. Recently, an event of nearly 100 non-Rotarians, curious and excited to learn more about the organization's mission and connect with local leaders was a wild success! Stories shared at the event were inspiring, illustrating the personal journeys of each Rotarian, sharing their passion that fuels a greater purpose. Leaders of these efforts include: Stefanie Huynh of the provisional NEOC club, District Governor Dan Ouweleen and incoming District Governor Roy Jefferson, showcasing the core values of Rotary.
As one who participated in these events, it was an honor to share my own Rotary story with community leaders, emcee for the District Conference weekend and witness the distribution of scholarships. It is a humbling yet powerful experience, to witness firsthand, the ways Rotary International is transforming lives and bringing people together for a common cause. I'm proud to be a part of this incredible organization, and I look forward to watching its impact grow and flourish through District #5320 and beyond.
