Half way done with contract 14 🤯
7 weeks has flown by and we’ve officially survived our first tropical storm 🙌🏼
We love having the opportunity to live and work in so many different places; getting to really experience the culture and way of living in so many parts of this country.
Packing our remaining weekends full of adventures.
SO much left to see and do !

Wanted to share a little more about us and how we manage to travel and do so many adventures. Just two people working full time jobs, taking advantage of a unique way to see the United States.
In January we had the opportunity to hike Coyote Buttes North, better known as THE WAVE! Permits are difficult to snag, so even though it was freezing, we took on this adventure and had a great time exploring the area.
Finally made it to Forrest Gump Point. Love this movie. Anyone else?
This has to be one of our favorite camping locations. But my goodness the wind was crazy.
Camping at Monument Valley | The Good, the Bad, and the...BEAUTIFUL
Monument Valley is an iconic landscape on the Arizona/Utah border and part of the Navajo Nation. It is a popular tourist attraction and is great for viewing...
For anyone new to following us, let us first say welcome and thanks for following.
We hope to share some of our favorite adventures that the United States has to offer, all while working in various states across the country.
We hope it is entertaining, but that it also provides ideas for easy to do (some not so easy) and fun activities to get out and explore.
Here is one of our more recent adventures in Arizona.
We have visited Horseshoe Bend from the overlook and of course it's beautiful, but we saw people floating in the river below and thought "Hey, that looks coo...
Assignment 14; Lets do this!!
No better way to kick start summer than with an outdoor, throwback, country concert 🎶 🤠
Enjoyed David Lee Murphy and Brooks and Dunn with family during our time back at home. And, we’ll be honest, it was one of the best concerts we’ve ever been to!
We made it to our new assignment location!
We did our cross country journey a little different this time and chose to stay home longer and enjoy time with family before heading out east.
Our last few assignments have been within a days drive from home so we were able to enjoy spending time with family regularly.
Knowing we’d be heading clear across the country and those long day trips home wouldn’t be possible, we decided to maximize our family time instead of extending our road trip and stopping to see multiple things along way.
Are we tired?? YES! We covered A LOT of miles in a few days. But, We’re happy to be here and explore this new part of the country.
This area is new to us so send us all of your southeast recommendations!!
We missed it yesterday because our 6.5 hour driving day turned into almost 12 hours. Just thankful we made it to our hotel safely 🙏🏻
So….Happy SECOND day of Summer ☀️
We think this might be our favorite time of year.
We love the warm weather, long days, sunshine and of course summer nights.
It has been the year of permits for us!!
We started off the year being selected for permits to hike the iconic Wave in northern Arizona. A permit that people apply for many many times before being selected.
As soon as we signed our contract for AZ The wave and Havasupai were placed at the top of our to-do list.
Kari was diligent about getting on frequently for Havasupai and was lucky enough to connect with someone on FB who was going to cancel their reservations for dates that worked perfectly with our assignment end date. She was on at 8 am sharp the next day and was able to secure the reservation for our first backpacking trip.
And, lastly, we happened to be at work when our coworker mentioned applying for half dome. We knew we’d be in the area for tax home days so decided last minute to apply. And what do you know, Tyler was selected! We have our coworker and the permit gods to thank for that one.
That’s THREE permitted hikes in 6 months 😮 😱 CRAZY.
We’re So so grateful for these opportunities and happy we were able to share them with family and friends.
Let’s see what permits we can score next!
What are your favorite hikes or activities where a permit is required???
We just completed 9 months straight of working in Southern Arizona with limited time off to really hustle, save and pay down our remaining student debt. We limited ourselves to 6 days off over the last 9 months (3 day weekends helped make that easier) 😴. We scored Havasupai permits for TWO days after our contract ended. So, after completing our contract we hustled to get our rental cleaned and everything packed before driving 5 hours to prepare for our back packing trip. When then spent 4 days unplugged and disconnected in some of the most beautiful parts of the country we’ve seen. After our backpacking trip we drove straight to Sedona where we spent an entire week just RELAXING! Well, mostly. We usually fill our days full of activities when we’re away but that week we limited ourselves to one big activity a day with some days having absolutely nothing. It was the week of rest we needed before we headed out to explore more of the northern Arizona/Utah area. It was such a nice change of pace for us. So, now we’re curious, How do you spend your trips/vacations?? Are you a relax and chill kind of person or are you filling your days full of activities and adventures???
It’s official, we just received news that our license has posted for our next contract 🙌🏼🙌🏼 we’re SO excited to be heading back across the country for contract number 14 😮 Our last 6 assignments have been out west so we’ve been dying to get back to somewhere on the east coast. Excited to be heading to a NEW state and to check out a part of the country we’ve never been!! Any guesses where we’re headed??
📣 NAME CHANGE 📣
We’ve debated this for some time and finally decided to make the switch to SAME us, NEW name 🙌🏼
Do we still intend to travel? YES.
Are we still roadtrippingPT? Absolutely. Just decided to change things up a bit.

We’ve been trying to come up with the right words to describe our first backpacking trip and are still finding ourselves speechless. The last 4 days was an experience beyond our expectations. Still taking it all it but looking forward to sharing more with you from our time at Havasupai.
So Long to the sunniest city on earth ☀️
It still seems so crazy how this assignment came about. We were on our summer road trip in Washington when we got a knock on our door from someone staying next to us asking if we’d seen their cat. Their cat had gotten out and was lost so Tyler went to go help find it. While looking, Tyler struck up a conversation with the gentleman who told him he was a “snowbird”. He said he spent his winters in Yuma and would return to Washington for the summer. He talked about how he loved Yuma and the foothills. The NEXT day we received an email from one of our recruiters for two positions in that area. So, of course, back to the neighbors we went to ask all about southern AZ. 7 weeks later we were starting our 13th assignment in Arizona.
Talk about a traveler hub in the winter! We’ve met so many great people at this assignment. Leaving here with the best stories and laughs. We got to explore so much of Arizona during our time here and enjoyed a warm, sunny, winter!
We celebrated the end of our contract/ end of our fellow travelers contract/ welcoming of summer with a taco night by the river.
This is yet another assignment that is hard to leave
And, yes, the neighbor found his cat.
Finalizing plans for our upcoming time off and we’re looking forward to some days on the water. We are more than ready for some relaxing days like this!!!
Never thought we would love this desert life so much. The warm weather and sunshine are making it hard to leave Arizona. We may just turn into permanent snow birds! Starting the search for our next assignment helped us realize just how much AZ has made us feel at home and also reminded us how hectic the process of finding your next assignment can be 🤪 😵💫.
Tyler surprised Kari with a day of off-roading adventures! We see why all the snowbirds come here with their ATV’s. It’s a fun way to get out and enjoy the desert foothills.
Another item checked off our AZ bucket list. Trying to get in all our last minute to-do’s before we wrap up this contract. Crazy to think we have just TWO weeks left of desert living 🌵
The hardest part about travel therapy???
‼️GETTING STARTED‼️
If we know anything, we know making the switch from perm to travel is HARD! We’ve been there and questioned if our decision to pursue travel was the right one. We had great jobs after graduating; great coworkers, ideal settings, amazing mentorship and we were both very comfortable where we were at. I think that’s what scared us the most; leaving the comforts of our first job and home and heading off into the unknown. We’re not here to tell you it’s going to be smooth sailing, there will be bumps in the road. We’re just here to tell you, we’ve been there and we know it can seem extremely intimidating, overwhelming and exciting all at the same time. But, we’re also here to tell you it’s the ‼️BEST ‼️decision we’ve ever made 🙌🏼👏
Finding yourself in the same situation?? We’re here to answer any questions you may have! Not sure where to start or feel like you have a million questions?? We’ve been there and would love to help make the transition easier for you.

Happy National Park Week!
This week needs more than 10 photos to celebrate but here are some of our favorites.
We love finding new ways to explore these parks 🚲 🥾 🛶 🐎. (Check out our story for more!)
Together, we’ve visited 22 different ones. We have a lot to go but have loved being able to explore the ones we have in various ways.
Tell us, what’s the most unique activity or unique way you’ve explored a national park???
We have now visited the East and West sides of Saguaro National Park and we have to say the West side is our fave! There are SO many more Saguaros and we love the little mountain foothills. Even the drive through the mountain park is phenomenal. We did multiple road side pull offs to check out all the different cacti and take in all the views. And, We probably saw one of the most beautiful moon rises we’ve ever seen while driving through. If you’re debating which side to check out, we say West side = Best side 🌵 😉

Did you know Lake Jocassee has multiple hidden waterfalls?? We visited over the weekend and set out to find them. This lake is stunning and the hidden waterfalls just add to the magic of this place. The best way to access them all is by boat. Have you found any of the waterfalls at Jocassee?? #southcarolina #lakejocassee #jocassee #summer #waterfalls #lakelife #lakedays #pontoon #devilsfork #devilsforkstatepark
Who bought their first PSL yesterday?? ☕️ We did not hear about the release until the afternoon yesterday so we did not get in on release day. Although there is still a month left of summer; we’ve had cooler temps this week and we’re getting excited for the season ahead 🤎 Who’s ready for fall and who’s still holding on to summer?? #fall #autumn #fallweather #pumpkinspice #leafpeeping #fallvibes #fallcolors #sweaterweather #fallfoliage #travel
📍Buckskin Gulch 📺 💥New YouTube video out now on our day hike through, whats known as, the world’s LONGEST and DEEPEST slot canyon! This place is otherworldly 🤯 as you hike through the canyon the walls get higher and higher and more and more narrow. And with the sun changing throughout the day you see a color variation of reds, oranges and browns we never thought possible. DO NOT miss this hike when you’re in the southwest. The canyon goes on for miles and can be completed via a backpacking trip. We chose to do a day hike and it was so hard to make ourselves turn around. This is located in Southern Utah in the Paris Canyon- Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness area. ‼️ALWAYS check the weather locally and in the surrounding areas as flash floods can be very dangerous in this canyon‼️
The Half Dome Cables can be challenging and intimidating but the views from the top are worth it. Sometimes the hardest climbs lead to the best views! Would you do a hike like this if you knew there were spectacular views at the top???
Did you know there is a bike path that runs right along the rim of the Grand Canyon?? 😳 😱 We recently discovered this as well. 📍Hermit Road This road is ONLY open to shuttles, bikers and hikers! We camped at Mather Camp Ground and got on the bike path from there. This was approx. 17 miles round trip. But, you can also take the path the opposite direction to make your ride even longer! The views were spectacular. We’ve been to the Grand Canyon many times and biking allowed us to see parts of the park we had never seen. There are a lot of places to pull off, eat and snack and take a break. As well as tons of amazing view points. DO NOT miss this next time you visit the Grand Canyon! #grandcanyon #grandcanyonnationalpark #arizona #biking #cycling #arizona
Of all the beautiful things to see when you’re on a vacation/travel assignment, sometimes it’s just a peaceful sunset that makes you realize how amazing life is. Love getting to see and experience new places through travel therapy and taking time to slow down and enjoy the moment is what it’s all about. #mauisunset #sunset #traveltherapy #maui #hawaii
Looking for something fun and unique to do when visiting Maui?? Check out @mauigoatyoga Located in upcountry Maui; you get to enjoy the views of the coastline while enjoying the benefits of yoga with these fun, cute, little animals. Make sure to reserve your spot online ahead of time! #maui #yoga #goatyoga #goats #animaltherapy #upcountry #upcountrymaui #hawaii #island #islandlife #aloha #livealoha
We lived and worked on the island of Maui for just over three months and snorkeling became our favorite weekend pastime. We’d wake up early, check the snorkel report with @thesnorkelstore and head out accordingly. We checked out multiple different places for snorkeling and these three are our favorites! We could ALWAYS count on seeing turtles and tons of colorful fish. The best purchase we made was our snorkel gear from @costco when we arrived. But, if you’re only there for a short time there are plenty of places to rent. Download the snorkel report so you can see where the best conditions are for the day and enjoy checking out life under the sea 🌊 🐟 🐢 🐠 #maui #hawaii #snorkel #snorkeling #islandlife #islandliving #underthesea #visitmaui #vacation #summer #mauihawaii
📍 Waihe’e Ridge Trail This was the first thing recommended to us, by all our coworkers, when we arrived to Maui. This trail is located in West Maui; it’s a 4 mile round trip hike that gives some of the most spectacular views on the island. Ocean views, multiple waterfalls and lush greenery. There are also some fun, ridge line, hiking sections as well. It’s common for clouds to roll in and obstruct the view from the top. But, if you’re lucky to hike it on a clear day, you will not be disappointed. And, as you can see, it’s dog friendly! #maui #hawaii #hiking #island #islandlife #aloha #livealoha #visitmaui #hike
Maui is magical but this just might be the most spectacular place on the island. #hawaii #maui #venouspool #visitmaui #roadtohana #hana #visithawaii #cliffjumping #waiokapond #venouspools
📍Haleakala National Park Located on the Hawaiian Island of Maui This volcano is Maui’s highest peak sitting at just over 10,000 feet. The name Haleakala means “house of the sun” in Hawaiian ☀️ This is a very popular place for sunrise and sunset. If you time it right, you can watch the full moon rising as the sun is setting! Get there early because parking fills up fast! If you plan to go for sunrise, a reservation is required. This is located in a national park, so there is a fee to enter. Always remember to enjoy and leave no trace 👍🏼 Follow along @tylerandkari_ for more of our adventures as travel therapists! #maui #haleakala #haleakalanationalpark #mauisunset #mauisunrise #sunrise #sunset #hawaii #volcano
📍 Huntington Beach State Park; South Carolina Alligator alley is part of the trail system located in this state park of South Carolina. It’s a paved, concrete, pathway open to walking and biking. We took this as a detour from the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway in hopes of seeing alligators. And we are so happy we did! Apparently, we picked the right day to visit because we saw at least 10 gators during our short time there. We met others on the path who said they’ve been multiple times and some days won’t see any at all! As always, Remember to not approach wild life. Stay at least 15 feet away and away from the waters edge. Visit with caution and read the warning signs that line the path for more safety tips. #summer #southcarolina #carolinas #alligator #alligators #murrellsinlet #gators #bike #biking #cycling
When you’ve tried to catch a fish with your rod and reel multiple times since arriving in South Carolina and you’ve had no luck… time to look for plan B! Plan B = NOODLIN’ We actually were looking for a true southern experience and this was the first thing that came to mind. We found it funny that Kari had yet to catch a fish the traditional way, yet, caught a couple this very unconventional way 🐟 We looked into a few guided excursions and were happy to know our guides had been doing it for years and knew exactly where to take us to keep us “safe”. It was quite an experience, one we’ll definitely never forget! Would we do it again?? Now that is questionable Have you ever been noodlin’ ?? #noodlin #noodling #fishing #rodandreel #baitahook #fish #gonefishing #gonefishin #southernliving
When you have a dog that loves adventure as much as you do, you find all the ways you can to bring them along! Spencer 🐶 goes everywhere with us 🥾 hiking 🚲 biking 🛶 paddle boarding ✈️ plane rides 🏊🏼 swimming You name it, we find a way for him to join! He’s slowing down as he gets older and putting this video together made us laugh as we looked back at how much he has enjoyed exploring with us 🩵 Do you have a dog that loves adventure?? We had to share this super cute and eclectically decorated airstream @airbnb we stayed at just a few weeks ago! Visiting the Greenville area? Check out @holatinyhouse in Fountain Inn for a fun little oasis retreat! This uniquely renovated 1972 airstream is the perfect combination of retro and fun with relaxation in nature 🍃 Check out the video to see who paid us a visit each morning 🦚 ☀️ ☕️ And did we mention, it’s pet friendly!!! 🐶
Wanted to share a little more about us and how we manage to travel and do so many adventures. Just two people working full time jobs, taking advantage of a unique way to see the United States.

📍 Columbia, South Carolina 🚲 We finally got to enjoy our first bike trail here in South Carolina. We made the trip to Columbia to check out the Three Rivers Greenway. This trail has a lot of different sections so make sure to do your research and know which part you want to bike before heading out for the day. We chose two different sections. We rode the northeastern leg of the trail (8 miles RT) which had cool waterways on both sides of the path. We then drove to the next section located in Cayce. This section runs 8 miles, one way, and has lots of historic placards throughout the route. We love how green everything is here in the summer. We saw lots of signs for alligators but did not spot any on the trail. However, we were lucky enough to see many other animals including deer, birds, ducks and turtles! This path runs right along the Congaree river and has lots of cool wooden bridges. This is a very popular trail for biking, walking and running so expect to be sharing the path with others. What bike trail should we check out next?? #southcarolina #southern #southernliving #biking #cycling #summer #bikepath #columbia #columbiasouthcarolina #threeriversgreenway #bikelife
Finally got around the putting our video together for The Wave. So, here’s a look back at our first permitted hike of 2024! This 6.7 mile, round trip hike, requires a permit to access. The Advanced lottery opens up 3 months in advance. (We first applied in September of 2023 😱) The Wave is a beautiful geologic feature located in an area also known as Coyote Buttes North. This hiking trail will take you across the Utah-Arizona border. The route is not well marked so make sure to have a map downloaded off line or look into a guide service. We use @dreamlandsafari tours and had a great trip! We didn’t have to worry about mapping the route ourselves and figuring out our way by locating important landmarks. This allowed us to enjoy the hike even more knowing we had an experienced guide with us! #thewave #vermillioncliffs #coyotebuttes #hikearizona #arizona #arizonahiking #utah #utahhiking #hikeutah #hiking
