We had been wanting to get out to the Carolinas for a while and our last assignment gave us that opportunity 🙌🏼 we enjoyed 5 months exploring part of the South Eastern US.
When people ask us where our last job was and we tell them South Carolina, they ask us why we’d want to go there.
Well, here’s why ⬆️ ⬆️
There is so much to do and see; We explored almost every weekend and still didn’t cover half the things on our list. They have the ocean, mountains, lakes, waterfalls. Plenty of outdoor activities and lots of culture and history.
And, not only is there a ton to do in the Palmetto State it’s also SO close to many amazing places like:
Savannah
Asheville
Charlotte
North Georgia mountains
Great smoky mountains
Blue Ridge Parkway

Onboarding can look slightly different depending on your company and setting but here’s what the process looked like for us for our current assignment
📌 Licensing- DO NOT wait on this part of the process! Especially if it’s a state you are not already licensed in. For this assignment, we were already licensed in CA but we recently renewed our license and submitted those receipts for reimbursement.
📌 Drug screen/ TB test- our company asks for our zip code and sets up our location and sends us all the paperwork needed. All we have to do is show up (if walk ins are accepted) or go online to schedule an appointment. You may be due for other vaccines and your company will let you know what’s required.
📌 Fingerprinting: this job required live scan fingerprinting that had to take place in CA as well submittal for a background check.
📌 Due to this assignment requiring driving to different locations we had to submit a copy of our drivers license and auto insurance.
📌 Many companies have yearly competency tests or skills checklists and it was time for ours to be updated.
📌 And most importantly SAVE and SUBMIT all your receipts and send them to your recruiter for reimbursement!

It’s been a slow weekend over here but we’re real excited about this new treat we made!
It has been a LONG 5 years without my favorite ice cream! I Was diagnosed with Celiac in 2019 and had to cut a lot of things out of my diet. Every grocery store we go to I look for this ice cream. Here’s an idea of just how many we saw…. Kari got to the point where she no longer needed to stop or make a U-Turn to go see it…. That’s how you know it’s a lot lol 😂
In all seriousness… We lost count after 30.
This is an easy 15 mile ride that pretty much guarantees wildlife sightings; and multiple at that!
Bring your own bike, reserve a bike online or show up early to rent one of the remaining bikes for the day. However, You can also walk or run the path or reserve a tour on the tram.

2024 was another incredible year! But, we’d be lying if we said everything was perfect and went as planned. We set a lot of goals for 2024 and although we met many of them we also, unfortunately, fell short on a few as well.
Like Kari running her first half marathon along with a few financial goals. But, you learn to take the good with the bad.
And with that, we’re happy to note that we also crushed some of our other 2024 financial goals as well as goals we had set for travel. We even accomplished things that were nowhere on our radar!
So, instead of dwelling on the goals we did not achieve, let’s look at the ones that we did meet and use that as motivation to work that much harder in 2025 💪🏼 🙌🏼
This last Year We
• worked an assignment out West (AZ) AND out East (SC)
• completed TWO cross country road trips
• visited 6 NEW states
• 7 NEW national parks
• completed our first backpacking trip
• were selected for permits for THREE iconic hikes (the wave, half dome and havasupai)
• Tyler biked to the top of Mt. Lemon and completed his first half marathon 🚲 🏃
• enjoyed another east coast fall 🍁
• spent lots of time out doors and with family 💙
