FLYING PISTON BENEFIT™
PRESS RELEASE

Flying Piston Benefit to Fund All Kids Bike Program to Empower Kindergarten
Students in Daytona Beach, FL
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

All Kids Bike is on a mission to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class.

[Daytona Beach, FL, April 30, 2025]: All Kids Bike, the national 501(c)(3) nonprofit teaching kindergarten students how to ride bikes in PE class, is activating their All Kids Bike Kindergarten PE Learn-to-Ride Program at RJ Longstreet Elementary School, thanks to a generous donation from the Flying Piston Benefit.

The comprehensive program includes teacher training and certification, complete curriculum with lesson plans, games and activities, a fleet of 24 Strider balance-to-pedal bikes, pedal conversion kits, fully adjustable student helmets, an instructor bike with pedal conversion kit and helmet, two rolling storage racks, and access to a resource portal with live support for the life of the program.

RJ Longstreet Elementary School celebrated the introduction of the program with a kickoff event alongside Teddy Morse's Harley-Davidson attendees, who had the opportunity to build the bikes for the program beforehand.
"We are delighted to support the school in this effort," said Marilyn Stemp, co-founder of the Flying Piston Benefit whose charity breakfast during Daytona Bike Week, hosted by Teddy Morse's H-D, funded the school's program. "Thanks to our presenting sponsor, Motorcycle Safety Lawyers, and all the industry people like Rusty Wallace who stepped up to help, we're getting more kids on bikes and growing future motorcyclists."

Lisa Weyer, executive director of the Strider Education Foundation, expressed appreciation for the partnership with the Flying Piston Benefit, emphasizing the transformative impact of early bike riding education.

"Learning to ride a bike is a transformative experience that builds confidence, independence, and lifelong skills. At All Kids Bike, we see this as the first step in a journey that can lead to a lifelong love of two wheels—whether it’s a bicycle or a motorcycle. The Flying Piston Benefit is committed to fostering this passion, as they help inspire future riders while promoting an active and adventurous lifestyle."

At RJ Longstreet this program will positively impact approximately 40 kindergarten students each year by teaching them how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class. With a lifespan of 7-10 years for the equipment, it is estimated that up to 400 students will benefit from this initiative over the next decade.

The Flying Piston Benefit and All Kids Bike are committed to enriching the lives of young learners and cultivating valuable skills through the joy of bike riding. This collaborative effort exemplifies their dedication to building healthier, happier communities, one pedal at a time.

Ride in Paradise Rich, you will be missed by so many

💔It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Rich Quaid, one of our Quaid Harley-Davidson owners🪽

Rich passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, in San Diego with his wife and two daughters by his side. He was 82 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Bob Quaid, and is survived by two younger brothers, Glenn Quaid and Gordon Quaid; his wife of 57 years, Judi, their daughter Cristina, their daughter Allison and son-in-law, Juergen; along with his sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rich retired from a long and successful career at Rockwell International Automotive Division, only to start a new career as a Harley-Davidson dealer, joining his brothers in business. Rich worked with his brother Gordon at Quaid Temecula Harley-Davidson from the late 90’s to 2015. Rich was loved by employees and customers and was heavily involved in the local and biker communities. He was a former president of the Southern California Harley-Davidson Dealers Association. He also was the CEO at All From the Heart Charity in Temecula, CA, for 18 years, up until his death. In 2015, Rich retired from Quaid Temecula Harley-Davidson and he and Judi moved to San Diego, where they enjoyed travelling and checking out the local cuisine together. Rich loved to ride his Harley-Davidson and continued to ride into retirement, where he never missed the Loma Linda Toy Run, one of his favorite charity rides.

Rich will be terribly missed by all who knew him. We are certain that he was welcomed at the pearly gates by his brother, Bob, who will show him the ropes and all the great places to ride in the great beyond.

Ride in Paradise, brother.

Full Throttle Sturgis to Showcase Michael Lichter’s Iconic Motorcycle Photography During 85th Rally.
STURGIS, South Dakota, March 17, 2025 (VTC Newswire) – Full Throttle Sturgis has announced an exciting highlight for the upcoming 85th annual Pappy Hoel Motorcycle Rally. Attendees will experience an exclusive art exhibition featuring the renowned work of Michael Lichter, the world’s foremost motorcycle photographer. This special showcase will be hosted at the state-of-the-art Full Throttle Expo Center gallery during the rally, from August 1st through August 9th, 9 AM to 8 PM daily.

The exhibition will present a selection of Lichter’s images from his forty-five year career, including some of his most iconic images of Sturgis dating back to the 1970s, as well as some never-before-seen works. This display coincides with Lichter being honored during this year’s rally as the recipient of the prestigious 2025 Arlen Ness Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating his unparalleled contributions to the art, culture and lifestyle of American motorcycling.

“On behalf of our family, staff, and customers, we want to congratulate Michael on his lifetime achievement award,” said Michael Ballard, owner and creator of Full Throttle Sturgis. “And we couldn’t be more excited for our customers to experience Michael’s work up close and personal in our beautiful new art gallery.”

Lichter’s photography captures the essence of American motorcycling, immortalizing its spirit, camaraderie, and culture through vivid and evocative visual storytelling. His legacy stems from decades of dedication, documenting the adventurous and artistic soul of custom bike builders, bikers and events like the Pappy Hoel Motorcycle Rally. His remarkable work reflects the blend of art, freedom, and shared experiences that define life on two wheels.

"Mike, Angie, and Jesse have made the Full Throttle a premier motorcycle and tourist destination over the last 20 years," says Michael Lichter. "Now, with their world-class art gallery — one that rivals spaces you would find in New York and LA – they’ve elevated the experience further. I am so looking forward to this opportunity to share my work with the audience at the Full Throttle, which will surely include bikers who have never seen it before.”

The concept of curated motorcycle showcases has gained significant momentum over the past decade, inspired by the groundwork laid by Lichter’s annual “Motorcycles as Art” exhibit, which captivated enthusiasts for over 20 years. His trailblazing efforts in combining custom motorcycles and moto-themed art helped elevate motorcycles to a celebrated form of folk art.

Full Throttle Sturgis invites motorcycle enthusiasts, rally-goers, and art lovers to visit the Full Throttle Expo Center and celebrate this extraordinary artist’s work. Attendees can look forward to an inspiring visual narrative celebrating motorcycling’s history, culture, and community. Watch for details on when Michael will be in the gallery to meet with guests and tell stories behind the creation of the images.

Just when you think, what more could Sturgis South Dakota have to offer besides the best rally in the country, Harley-Davidson and the owners of Sturgis Harley-Davidson (as well as many other dealerships) Sonic Powersports steps up and out and brings on one of the most interesting, talented, passionate motorcycle advocates around,
Tim Sutherland, to lead the Sturgis Harley-Davidson team into a brand new era for Harley-Davidson and Sturgis.

Tim Sutherland brings that Carolina charm as well as his extensive expertise and knowledge in the industry to the Sturgis Harley-Davidson team. Before Tim thought he retired just one short year ago He was the owner of one of the most successful in the country. Victory and Indian dealership in Myrtle Beach South Carolina for 20 years. He was also the owner of the fairly new Ryd Fast, Indian Motorcycle bagger racing team. Tim himself has set land speed records on a Triumph Rocket 3. Taking on his new position with HD he has turned over his interest (but not his love) in RydFast Racing to their great sponsor TAB Performance

Despite his devotion to Victory and Indian he has always owned a multitude of motorcycles, including Honda, Triumph and Harley to name a few. He and his wife Sondra have a full garage to say the least. Tim was also featured on the MotoDoffo Royal Tinto wine label (label pic 📸 Sara Liberte) riding the Indian He is on his 3rd year serving on the board of the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame

Tim and Sondra are fully committed to Sturgis and the lifestyle here (including the winters) and looking forward to this new adventure here in the Black Hills and the opportunity to be part of Harley-Davidson history

This dynamic team of Sonic Powersports, Sturgis Harley-Davidson and Tim Sutherland are just getting started and have set out to make legendary history and have started selling the first ever NEW Harley- Davidson motorcycles out of Sturgis South Dakota at the once boutique HD Store With plans already in the works to expand the current footprint at the current location by adding service and other opportunities for the convenience of Harley owners in the riding community in the Black Hills.

Of course, there will be surprises to come and certainly opportunities for the buyers of these new Harleys in Sturgis to be part of history with special custom commemoration of the first, new Harleys being sold out of Sturgis and during the the 85th Sturgis rally

Stay tuned for more updates as plans solidify over the next few months and if you have the opportunity to drop by Sturgis Harley-Davidson be sure and make a point of getting to know Tim and the Sturgis HD crew If you’re coming out for rally, be sure and hit up their social media ahead of time and give them a Like and Follow.
