The Socialist Movement of Ghana (SMG) will observe this year’s Founder’s Day with a street carnival at Kotoko Avenue, in front of the Freedom Centre at Kokomlemle Accra, on Friday, September 22, 2023.
The event will feature reggae and highlife music by the Freedom Band, the exhibition of Nkrumah memorabilia, including books and t-shirts, and the sale of African and Ghanaian food.
It is expected to start at 11 a.m. and end at midnight.
The SMG invites all mass and progressive organizations, including political parties, trade unions, youth, and student movements, women’s organizations, and faith-based groups, to join in the celebration of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the Founder of Ghana and an inspiration for the national liberation movement throughout Africa and the world.
On the 112th anniversary of his birth, the SMG rededicates itself to the full realization of his dreams of the total liberation of the African continent from colonial exploitation in all its forms and the construction of a united Africa under the banner of scientific socialism.
To this end, we remain implacably opposed to the colonial occupation of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic by Morocco and the struggle to free the Garcia Islands from Western occupation.

Both Naira Marley and Sam Larry are not even in the country. I think they both believe so much in the injustice entrenched in the Nigerian system. One is reportedly in Amsterdam. The other is said to be in Kenya.
They are waiting for things to blow over. They probably didn't know the guy's demise will cause this much ruckus & cries for justice is fast gaining momentum.

Former President Donald Trump is facing a civil trial over an allegation that he r***d an advice columnist nearly three decades ago.
Jury selection began on Tuesday in a New York federal court.
Mr. Trump has denied E Jean Carroll's accusation that he attacked her in a Manhattan department store. He has said she made up the publicity claim.
Though this is not a criminal case, the consequences for Mr. Trump could nevertheless be serious.
What are the accusations?
The pair had bumped into each other while shopping, she said. Mr. Trump then allegedly asked her for advice when buying lingerie for another woman and jokingly asked her to model it for him. But once in the changing rooms, Ms. Carroll said the real estate tycoon lunged at her, pinned her against a wall, and assaulted her.
Ms. Carroll, whose "Ask E. Jean" advice column has appeared in Elle magazine since 1993, claims she managed to push him off after a "colossal struggle".
She did not report the alleged encounter to police, her complaint said, because she "was in shock and did not wish to think of herself as a r**e victim".
Two of Ms. Carroll's friends, Carol Martin and Lisa Birnbach, have said the writer told them about the alleged incident within days. Ms. Martin and Ms. Birchbach are on the list of witnesses that Ms. Carroll may call to testify.
Mr. Trump has issued multiple denials in the years since Ms. Carroll came forward with her allegations in 2019.
He has described her claims as a "complete con job" on his social media platform Truth Social, saying the alleged r**e "never happened". And during an October deposition for the case, Mr. Trump repeated his denials, adding that his accuser is "not my type".
Lawyers for the accuser plan to play to jurors a recording, known as the Access Hollywood tape, in which Mr Trump is heard boasting about grabbing women's ge****ls. Lawyers for Ms. Carroll also plan to call other women who say they were attacked by Mr. Trump to testify at the trial.
