Parenting with 100% compassion 24/7 is a BIG ASK!

Which doesn’t make it less essential

Just hard for us to do…

It requires several things:

A true understanding of the benefits of compassion

Trust that a compassionate response will always be the best outcome for a child

Work on ourselves to clear out our instantaneous harsh and critical words, thoughts and reactions

A commitment to keep returning to the use of compassion even if others drag us away from it with their negative comments

A commitment to rest when we can as tiredness and compassion don’t easily coexist

My commitment to my granddaughter is to ONLY treat her with compassion when I’m caring for her

Some days that means I carry her as she doesn’t wish to go in her buggy

Or I calm myself ASAP when she’s hit me (of course she doesn’t know yet that this hurts that’s a work in progress)

I hold her or lay by her when she’s screaming with frustration and overwhelm

It’s not always easy and I didn’t know how essential this was when raising her Daddy

But only using compassion means she’s one of the calmest most empathetic little ones I’ve ever cared for or known

With an amazing joy for life

So it ‘works’ and feels like a true honouring of her journey too

WooHOO! Aunt Doyle's Treehouse won FIRST PLACE in the category of BEST AUDIO for Panivox's Interactive Audio Competition using their ground-breaking app called RichCast! We can't wait for RichCast to be made available to the public for download on personal devices so everyone can experience Episode One: "The Peacemaker." Until then, a big shout-out to Sweet Creek Studios for killing it in this production!
