As followers of Christ, it is our responsibility to bring forth the Good News of the Lord to our community. All of us may have experienced the presence of the Lord in different ways and so, what hinders us to not speak of the greatness and wonders that Jesus has performed in our life? These encounters with Jesus allow us to be able to proclaim His love to others with utmost sincerity for they are considered very personal to us. Therefore, we should try our best to voice out our experiences in order to open the eyes of those who turned away from the Lord and let them realize that with God, they may also feel the greatest kind of love that we’ve felt; that they may still find the motivation to do good and live a good life through the love of God.

In today’s time, we usually use the term “Marites” to represent the individuals who are usually updated with the latest news and stories and who enjoy gossiping with one another. Although it is somehow part of our culture that individuals tend to become a “Marites”, being one may have negative connotations. Instead of being a “Marites” in order to spread usually harmful rumors or gossip about the people around us, we should use the same enthusiasm as “Marites” to communicate the truths of our faith. This enthusiasm we have may help more people to engage with or participate in our mission to spread the word of God.

Truly, the pandemic has greatly affected our relationships with others. In the present time, we are still obliged to continuously observe distancing and isolation to prevent the further transmission of the virus which has caused us to become disconnected from the people around us.

I certainly believe that no man is an island since we still need to lean on others in order to survive, therefore despite these protocols that we must follow there are still ways in order to create meaningful connections with others; this is possible through the prevalence of different social media platforms which has given us an opportunity to interact with one another digitally.

Given these platforms, we have the chance, once again, to collaborate with others to create a community where we establish policies to have an equal distribution of goods, we give importance to the needs of the poor, and lastly a community where we advocate for respect and protection of human rights.

When we promote collaboration and participation in our community, overcoming different challenges becomes more manageable because each individual exerts an effort to do so. Because of working with the people around us, we are able to create meaningful relationships with them; this allows us to become aware of the needs of one another which then would motivate us to think of ways to support each other. Through collaboration, we are able to inspire one another to strive for the common good and well-being of all people. Thus, with collaboration, we are one step closer to solidarity.

"For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ" - 1 Corinthians 12:12

I believe that love is an intense emotion that drives us to do something– to care for someone, to be selfless, to be protective, and a lot more; this emotion allows us to connect with other people on a deeper level. Recently, I have learned that loving Jesus does not simply talk about one’s devotion or adoration for him but it also extends to loving his people, our neighbors.

Consequently, once an individual is able to experience a profound encounter with Christ they are able to share the same kind of love with others therefore it would be impossible not to love your neighbors when you love Christ. Moreover, having this encounter with God inspires us to love the people around us the same He did– unconditional and impartial; no matter who you are, with God you are loved, and that is how we should be as well.

As mentioned earlier, love causes us to perform actions and I think one of the greatest things that love has made us humans do is to serve others. We are commanded by God to love our neighbors as He loved us and because of that love inspired by God, we are able to care for the people around us and realize that each person should be valued for all of us are equally important.

Furthermore, love makes us selfless; as we overcome our self-centered tendencies we gradually seek for the good of others, not just those of the majority but of the minority as well. Certainly, love is such a strong force that enables us to move and because of that, I can say that with love, we are able to conquer whatever battle it is we face in life.
