A banded Wood Duck on the Ouachita.

While I was busy watching a Double-crested Cormorant flailing about in the river, Amber noticed this Wood Duck, hanging out in an overhead branch.
This was also the first time that I've ever photographed (or seen, for that matter) a banded bird, that I'm aware of.

On this little stretch of the river, there wasn't much moving around on Saturday afternoon, and I knew that with a high likelihood of rain and several things to do around the house on Sunday, it would probably be my only opportunity for a little bird photography.
As I was about to move on to other things, a pair of Killdeer flew into the field that borders this street, so when I noticed this one peeking over the edge of the curb, I jumped at the chance and tried to get a bit creative with a habitat shot (well executed, or not). 🙂
