In a world where streaming reigns supreme and mobile devices are glued to our hands, Regal Cinemas is breaking the mould with their audacious new ad campaign, "Pool," "BBQ," and "Ice-Cream." 💦 🌭🍦
Picture this: a levitating ghost poolside, regurgitating with both horror and hilarity. A dead-but-not-dead action hero, lining up for a sausage hot of the barbie as if he just wandered off a movie set. And let's not forget the majestic blue avatar, whose love for ice cream transcends dimensions. These familiar spoofs of iconic movie characters crash backyard barbeque’s and navigate familiar streets, delivering a simple message: "Don't wait for the movies to come to you." 🤯
Regal Creative Director, Rodney Griffin, hits the nail on the head: "Movie theatres are more than screens; they're communal experiences, where you become a part of something bigger. A story, a moment, a collective gasp or a shared laugh - all magnified on the grand canvas of the silver screen."
Like its competitors, Regal is feeling the present and future sting of the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike that’s disrupting the Hollywood pipeline with schedule changes and shifting release dates - so name a more iconic time to seize the moment to remind us why cinema matters because the experience of seeing the next big blockbuster on the big screen, is unparalleled. 🎬
The trio of spots are by Chicago-based creative agency Quality Meats Creative and were directed by actor, comic and former Conan O’Brien sidekick, Andy Richter.

“At Liquid Death, we take the internet’s complaints very seriously. So when a random internet troll left a comment that they’d rather “lick sweat off a fat guy’s back than drink Liquid Death” we knew we had to do something. To test their claim, we invited 10 real people and Zach “Zackass” Holmes to participate in an official taste test to decide which is better”

Growing up, we all had idols we admired, looked up to and inspired to emulate.
We were excited and entertained by them, we’d dress up like them, talked like them and celebrated them - influenced by their actions, words and opinions.
This has been a generational human practice since the beginning of time. When we see someone embodying the dreams, confidence, power, talent or success that we want for ourselves, we elevate them and hold them up as someone we’d like to aspire to be.
Fast forward to today, and the world has transformed dramatically. Our idols are no longer confined to glossy magazine covers or movie screens; they now populate within the vast digital landscape, wielding more influence and power than ever before.
But in this era of boundless connectivity: Are all brands and individuals harnessing their power for the greater good? Do they truly understand the immense responsibility that comes with their influence?
As a parent, I've had a front-row seat to this phenomenon, observing my 8-year-old daughter as she navigates her own world of idols and influencers. She's discovered her idol on TV, and like many kids her age, she watches this captivating figure religiously on YouTube (only because I’ve said no to her daily pleas for her own TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat accounts) but her admiration for this idol runs deep, and the influence is palpable.
This person she has chosen to idolise has a huge platform with multiple TV series, movies, song releases, brands and merchandise. They have a super engaged global fan base with accounts on all the socials and endless content easily accessible on the internet.
They have a platform, a voice and influence - a whole lot of power!
To my daughter, they are entertaining, hilarious and fabulous just like any of her friend’s idols, but their influence goes beyond mere entertainment; it's a force for positive change. They:

In a thought-provoking advertisement, AI technology is used to manipulate a child's image, transforming her into an older version of herself. The deepfake depiction of Ella shocks her parents when they see her on the big screen, revealing the potential dangers of sharing children's images online. 📸
The campaign aims to shed light on the dark side of social media and raise awareness about the risks children face when their images are shared without caution. It presents worst-case scenarios, illustrating the risks of cyberbullying, identity theft, and even child pornography. 😱
While the campaign emphasises the right of individuals to control their digital identities, it has us curious as to whether fear and shame are the most effective approach to educate people? 🧐
Fear taps into our primal instincts, driving us to think, form opinions, and take action so it's no surprise that fear-based narratives are commonly used by marketers. But do these extreme fear-based campaigns truly work? 💁🏼♀️
