يتناول الفيلم حقائق تاريخية عن مخيم الشط، أكبر مخيمات اللجوء فى سيناء أثناء الحرب العالمية الثانية. يأخذ الفيلم مادته من أرشيفات كرواتية وعالمية، مضفورة مع صور معاصرة للمخيم الذى لم يعد موجودًا. يسعى الفيلم لإعادة بناء ذكرى تاريخ منسى لرحلات الهجرة فى البحر المتوسط، متنقلًا بذلك بين الماضى والحاضر.

Chasing the Sun: El Shatt
Ana Bilankov, Croatia, 2023 – 19’
The film touches on some historical facts about El Shatt, the largest refugee camp in the Sinai desert in Egypt during the WWII, based on materials from Croatian and international archives and intertwined with the visuals of this desert non-place now. Chasing the Sun is an attempt to reconstruct a fragmented memory of an unknown history of migrations in the Mediterranean, culminating in a transtemporal filmic journey.

يسعدنا الإعلان عن النسخة الجديدة من مقامات؛ برنامج أفلام من قبلة فى الصحراء بالتعاون مع زاوية.
مقامات هو برنامج أفلام قصيرة مستوحى من المقامات الأدبية، وهى شكل أدبى قديم يتميز بقِصَر المدة، وتواتر نفس الشخصيات فى أزمنة وأماكن مختلفة، فى أسلوب يشبه الفيلم القصير.

تيمة النسخة القادمة من مقامات هى «منطق آخر».

تعرض كل الأفلام مع ترجمة عربية/إنجليزية.

We are thrilled to announce the next edition of Maqamāt, a collaboration between A Kiss in the Desert and Zawya.

The programme’s namesake is the Maqamāt, a medieval concise literary format, with recurring characters adapting different roles in each Maqāmah like a short film.

This month’s theme is “Eccentric Intellects.”

The films are screened with Arabic/English subtitles.
