As we begin a new liturgical year, it's an appropriate time to ponder Preparation.
I'd love for you to do a little personal examination on this one. You see, as mothers, many of us have a disordered relationship with preparation and planning.
๐ชWe either overdo it, desiring more control over our lives to ease our anxiety or prevent horrible things from happening (like messed up nap schedules!!)
๐ or we avoid it as much as possible because of dread for whatever lies ahead or because we have crippling perfectionism that makes it seem like planning properly is insurmountably difficult.
โ
Let me ask you something a little odd; When you think of the word, Preparation, what feelings come up? What does it feel like in your body?
โ
Maybe, if you're a rare bird, it excites you and fills you with tingles of anticipation. You feel energized and eager.
Or, if you are like many people, maybe it intimidates you, bringing up memories of studying for exams or forgetting some important detail for an assignment. You feel a lump in your stomach or a shrinking inward.
What about Planning? What feelings come up? Confidence? Confusion? Shame? Discouragement?
Some people feel a sense of imprisonment, a fear that planning will inhibit them or kill their spontaneity and freedom.
This month, we are going to dive into the skills of planning and building quality preparation routines.โ

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.

so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Good Morning and Happy November!
We're beginning a new topic this month in the Well-Ordered Week; ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ. As the days become colder and darker, we find ourselves indoors more with our loved ones. These colder months are such a wonderful time to grow in our capacity for love and presence!
โ
But what does it mean to be present? The theology of the body teaches us that we are embodied souls. This means that we are most present when our entire selves are present, mind, body and soul. To be truly present, it is not enough to be somewhere only in our body or only with our mind. It is a whole-person experience.
In this age of distraction, we all have experienced the lack of presence shown by a loved one who sits nearby physically, but mentally is far away, scrolling on their phone. And the reverse is less than ideal as well. For example, studies have shown that Zoom meetings activate only a small fraction of the parts of the brain that light up during in-person interaction. There is so much more to a relationship than a meeting of minds!
โ
Further, we know that a spiritual communion with our Lord, is simply not sacramental the way receiving Him as the Eucharist is.
โ
In this, let me encourage you to begin this month with scheduling some time to sit at the feet of our Lord and rest in His Presence.

"The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth." -St. Teresa of Calcutta

I never used to sleep on Christmas Eve.
Can you imagine? Groggy, grumpy and headachy every Christmas morning. And that was AFTER weeks of running around like a crazy person to get everything done.
Sound familiar?
It doesn't have to be that way. I figured out a way to do things differently and now am teaching Catholic moms like YOU how to do it, too.
So, what if this year was different?
What if you could get ahead of the crazy?
