"Lori will love this."

We were on a shoot for Whitehead Plumbing & Air Conditioning and Aaron Rich Marketing this week. One shoot location stood out.

We looked at each other and smiled.

"It's the house from Wild Cards, Whiskey, and Watches."

About 5 years ago, we were asked by Lori Allen at the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center to shoot a promo for a fundraiser called Wild Cards, Whiskey, and Watches. Lori wanted it to have a swanky James Bond vibe.

The house behind us had the coolest old-school library in it. It was one of our scenes.

That shoot changed our lives.

When Lori saw the finished video, she looked at us and said, "If you don't turn this into a business, you're crazy."

That gave us the encouragement we needed. You see, until that shoot, we weren't even a business. We were two people doing side projects. Lori's encouragement made us commit, get official, and become who we are today.

As soon as we arrived at the house, we snapped this pic and sent it to our earliest champion. We knew she'd love it.

Thank you Lori. We'll think of you every time we see this grand old home.

Wewa Films ❤️

We never expected this.

We never expected to work for big brands. We made artsy, heartfelt documentary stuff.

Turns out, that's what brands want. They want to show the heart of their people and give them the production value they deserve. They want to tell their story.

Big businesses are just people. But they are grown ups whose brands deserve grown up video.

Over the years, we've worked for -

- McDonald's
- Tyndall Federal Credit Union
- Destination Panama City
- HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital
- Panama City Toyota
- Florida's Great Northwest
- Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center
- Gulf County Florida Tourism
- Destination Innovate
- California's Central Coast
- Collins Vacation Rentals
- Emerald Coast Theatre Company
- Altrua Global Solutions

And many others. We're proud of this work and proud of our clients.

Grown up video for grown up brands.

We're good with that.

Love,
Wewa Films ❤️

We were featured in Bold Journey Magazine!

Our co-founder Kevin tells our origin story and how Wewa Films came to be.

"When we added Courtney’s raw, astonishing talent and started making videos for private clients, I knew I had found my purpose. We started Wewa Films. In midlife, I had wandered into something that satisfies all my cravings – a business where the whole job is to be as creative as possible."

Thank you Bold Journey!

Big brands are just people with hearts.

At the end of each year, we do a retrospective like everyone else. And every year, we're struck by the people.

When we lay our projects out on the table, we see the cool shots and rich colors and awesome businesses. But what strikes us are the folks who make up the brands. The people. They are the brands.

They're normal people trying to do good work and be kind and live a life they can be proud of.

We hear all the time, "Wow, I look and sound better than I thought I was."

That's our greatest compliment. But here's the secret: We don't invent or manufacture these people. We just point our cameras at them, ask them to tell us their story, and listen.

We don't shoot video, we reveal people.

What a gig.

Love y'all,
Wewa Films ❤️

P.S. - Thanks for a great year -

*New CRAFT Episode*
________________________________________________

Remember when we were kids?

Remember when everything could be art? When there were no rules on what you could or should make? Remember how great that was?

A few rare, lucky humans carry that freedom into adulthood.

Paulette Perlman is one of those fortunate few.

She is a polymath artist, but is best know in her hometown of Panama City, Florida as a car artist.

Paulette doesn't draw cars. Her car itself is a custom art piece. Unique in the world. She is unique in the world.

This episode of CRAFT is a little window into the life of someone who is freer than most of us.

Paulette opened our interview with these words: "The first thing to know is you can make art out of everything."

Even, perhaps especially, our own lives.

Enjoy the episode y'all.

We stop everything for Lori.

Lori Allen is the executive director of the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center. It's one of the bravest, most amazing organizations we've ever seen.

They are champions for abused children.

But Lori is also our champion.

She was the very first one to encourage us to start Wewa Films. She saw our potential when we didn't and told us she believed in us.

A champion.

She and the other champions at the CAC need our help. They want to pay off the mortgage on their main facility. It will free up $8,000 a MONTH that the CAC can use to help children in some of the worst circumstances imaginable.

Helping kids vs. paying a bank.

Lori asked us to create a video for her fundraising campaign, so stay tuned. And please give.

We all need champions. The CAC are some of our best.

That's why we'll always stop everything for Lori.

Our work in the wild. 😍

We love working with Tyndall Federal Credit Union. If you didn't know, they are a not-for-profit organization, not a typical "bank."

They have a different heart than typical banks, which means they have members instead of shareholders and they share profits with the members.

This spot is announcing their year-end giveback. Tyndall members, run to the online giveback calculator at www.Tyndall.org/Grateful

We didn't know how powerful this would be.

We were excited when Maharaja's Fine Jewelry asked us to create commercials for them. We had never shot jewelry and we love new projects.

But this was so much more.

The moment we talked with Manu and Mohit Samtani, we fell in love with their story.

Manu moved to Panama City, Florida from India (by way of Jamaica) in 1977. He didn't have much, but knew he was entrepreneurial and loved the beach. He had retail experience, so thought he would open a shop on Panama City Beach for a few years until he figured out his next move.

That little beach shop evolved into an apparel shop. Then he started selling bits of jewelry to match the apparel. That became Maharaja's Fine Jewelry.

Now, almost 50 years later, Maharaja's is not only the premier jeweler in the area, but a trusted friend and advisor to hundreds of local families.

We interviewed lots of their customers. Many are multi-generational. All of them glowed about how the folks at Maharaja's treated them and valued their family stories.

Jewelry holds those stories. When we pass it down, we tell our family stories to the next generation.

Maharaja's and the Samtanis don't just sell jewelry. They sell time capsules.

What an honor to help pass down the Maharaja's story.

Love,
Wewa Films ❤️

Why We Are Wewa

Sometimes you just know.

I’m Kevin Elliott, co-founder of Wewa Films. That is something I never thought I would say, until I met Courtney.

In addition to producing videos, I am an adjunct college professor. A few years ago the woman who would become my business partner as Wewa’s co-founder walked in to my public speaking class as a student.

She took the class, did well, and friended me on Facebook along the way. One day as I was scrolling, I saw a video that looked like a professional music video for a Mumford and Sons concert. I thought it was one until I saw my student in the video. I looked closer and then realized she had created the video!
